How weak was the average Saiyan?

I've been thinking... If King Vegeta was killed with one blow by Freeza still in first form, how weak was the rest of the race?

I imagine most were around Raditz's level of strength.

Raditz was also a low-class Saiyan. I have no idea what class the average Saiyan is, though. Anyway, I'd say that the average Saiyan power level is probably around 2,000 or so. Just a guess.

Yeah I certainly wouldn't put their power level any higher than 4000, tops.

Nappa was an Elite Saiyan.

So the "average" Saiyan topped out at around a couple thousand, eh? Vegeta was hot stuff with his royal blood, then, to be in the dozens of thousands like he was. Bardock (10,000) was amazingly high for his "class," too.

Question: To those who own the manga and can give me a canon answer, is it ever stated that Raditz is a "low level" Saiya-jin, or that Nappa is an "elite" Saiya-jin? Can't quite remember. Any page numbers would be helpful if it is stated.

You're right, I remember that now too.

MFG puts Nappa at 7800. I'm pretty sure they got their stuff from the Daizenshuu, and was apparently put up by Duo. Someone should check real quick.

Nappa's power level is stated in the Daizenshuu as 4,000. There's no other one given. But the picture that goes along with the power level is a Nappa who has only powered up once. And 4,000 fits perfectly with that Nappa. Goku (at this time, power level 5,000) easily bests Nappa. Goku powers up to "over 8,000". Nappa powers up. Goku bests him easily again. Nappa calms down and powers up again. This time he's nearly on par with Goku (although Goku isn't really giving his all during the fight, but does state Nappa has improved quite a lot).

Your "idiotic speculations from 2 years ago" are likely still more reliable than most's solid, recent "facts." I was willing to bet the Saiyan saga stuff was accurate.

I believe Nappa and Vegeta merely called him a weakling. Which compared to them he is. His class was never stated as far as I remember.

I don't think it was ever given. I've seen some suggest 5,000 but I can't see him as being weaker than Nappa. So I'd say more likely around 10,000.

Vegeta also briefly mentioned that he was stronger than the king when he was a kid. With this in mind I estimate King Vegeta at roughly 10,000 and Vegeta (as a 14-16 year old) at 12,000. He reached 18,000 some years later during his appearance in Dragonball.

Vegeta-sei was destroyed and King Vegeta killed when our Vegeta was five...so there wouldn't be any possible comparison between the two when he was 14-16....

I think I agree with Xyex's suggestion of 5,000....

Nappa's had another twenty years to get stronger, though.
