Is there really a problem with "freeloading complainers"?
Is there really a problem with "freeloading complainers"?
(this thread contains spoilers up to current episode (as of this time))
i am referring to people who watch the series for free and then having an opinion on the episode, arc, or series that can be considered an intrusive opinion. i don't necessarily classify it all as complaining, but i will go more into the details of my opinion on the "freeloading complainers" in due time. you see, these people have been around since the first episode of dragon ball super, but only over time does it seem like more and more people are having a problem with it, especially during the more popular times of each arc, like the current arc (this arc is so awesome that the hype alone generates an extreme amount of excitement and anticipation).
so far in this arc and late last arc we've had people complaining about how long the goku black arc was and how it ended. people complaining about goku getting bruised from a bullet wound. people complaining about some of the rules, especially the 47 (or 48, whatever it was) minute time limit for the tournament of power and how much time they have to prepare for the tournament. people complaining about goku "overusing" ss blue, people complaining about buu's slumber, and Freeza's appearance on the team.
most of these bold opinions, complaints, etc, seem to be coming from people who watch the series for free (because there are probably more people watching for free than paying directly for it). this is nothing new, of course, but as the series gets more and more popular, there are more people with these bold opinions since the beginning of the series. however, i believe there is a much larger increase of people who have problems with the complainers now relative to the start of the series than the complainers. for example, you may often see someone saying "stop complaining, you are watching the show for free so deal with it".
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
i'm not going to disclose whether i view the series for free or not, but i'd like to make my opinion on this matter clear. getting straight to the point, i think it's perfectly fine for people who view the series for free to have any kind of opinion, complaint, suggestion, request, demand, etc. these things are very important to making the series better and better. when dragon ball super first started, the art style and animation were um..... well, you know. regardless of whether or not things are better in the blue ray versions, the first release needs to be good as well. dramatic and good changes have come to the series thanks to the viewer base, whether they are watching for free or not.
imagine how the return of our beloved vegito would have been if standards for this series were not as high as they are? we would have had to watch master roshi stomp out ss blue goku just a few episodes ago if people weren't complaining about the overuse of ss blue, and how outrageous the jump in power of the weaker z warriors appeared to be. it's obvious that the animation and art style in the past few episodes was "okay", but it's still done fairly well, i suppose. it's bearable. i think it has to be this way due to budget issues, and the massive tournament coming up, but they better break that budget when the tournament is underway. i want to see some muscle definition in the bodies of those u6 saiyans (no, the raging monster doesn't count).
what do you guys think?

The entire market Super is directed towards in Japan watches free. Kids dont pay bills.
The way someone sees something has nothing to do with their opinion. I watch free on Crunchyroll myself.

No TV show, and the majority of games would get nowhere if there was no way for free viewing or testing of products. That is a huge part of marketing. If you didn't know, Crunchy-Roll, Netflix, FX, HBO, Hulu, etc, all offer "Free 1-Month Trials" for those who wish to test the service.
Helps with their marketing and helps get people interested. Helps promote feedback and otherwise as well.

You dont even need Crunchyroll subscription either as you can watch it free with ads without one.DrakenballP wrote:No TV show, and the majority of games would get nowhere if there was no way for free viewing or testing of products. Premium and Free are both solid choices for Crunchyroll. I personally watch it free. Ads help people out a lot so the content can keep flowing for us.GodKaio-Ken wrote:You dont even need Crunchyroll subscription either as you can watch it free with ads without one.DrakenballP wrote:No TV show, and the majority of games would get nowhere if there was no way for free viewing or testing of products. Re: Is there really a problem with "freeloading complainers"?
Sounds like the original poster just wants to make up a reason to saw people have no right to complain....
Nothing in life is free. Super is ad supported meaning advertisers are paying to have as many eyes see their product as possible. Advertisers aren't too worried about the quality of the show as long as the eyes are there. But if you'd like to get rid of every view with a negative impression of the show we can certainly imagine what that would look like.
It means less total viewers,
Equaling less advertising dollars
Equaling lower production budget
Equaling lower quality show and potential ratings drops and cancellation.
So go ahead and complain about people complaining and how they should all stop having an opinion that's different from yours. Maybe you should encourage them all to stop watching in mass and you let me know how what works out for you.

Re: Is there really a problem with "freeloading complainers"?
Every show, movie, etc. has freeloaders and if not then those people rely heavily on reviews to make up their mind.
The only way to get those people to invest in something is to make the product good. If what they see for free isn't good then they're not going to buy it and if they can't see it but hear about it being bad then chances are they won't buy it.

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

not at all. i plainly stated that i have no problem for people who view the series for free to have any kind of opinion, complaint, etc. it's literally the first sentence of my opinion.TheMikado wrote:Sounds like the original poster just wants to make up a reason to saw people have no right to complain....

I'm not sure what youre getting at then. Its either okay for them to voice their opinion or not. Also the word complaining as negative connotations behind it generally so it makes people defensive.Kastex wrote:not at all. i plainly stated that i have no problem for people who view the series for free to have any kind of opinion, complaint, etc. it's literally the first sentence of my opinion.TheMikado wrote:Sounds like the original poster just wants to make up a reason to saw people have no right to complain....

The fans of DBS are no better or worse than the people who follow other shows whether they be anime or otherwise.

Re: Is there really a problem with "freeloading complainers"?
i was talking about it from a neutral point at first. i was referencing it based on the perspective of those that view it as a problem when people watch the show and make the kinds of posts that can be considered intrusive opinions (or statements, etc) from that perspective (and i don't view it as complaining, as i mentioned). it's my opinion that posts like that are fine to an extent, and i made this thread to get the opinions of others.GodKaio-Ken wrote:I'm not sure what youre getting at then. Re: Is there really a problem with "freeloading complainers"?
Meh, don't let Kanzenshuu fool you. The vast, vast majority of people do love Dragon Ball Super. It's Toei's highest rated show along with One Piece. This place is just packed full of obsessive, powerscaling nerds who oftentimes watch pirated raws because they can't wait a fucking hour for Crunchyroll to show the episode legally with subs. Their opinions represent a tiny, tiny minority of Super's fanbase, and even if they all did stop watching the show (they won't), it wouldn't even be a blip on Toei's radar.
Re: Is there really a problem with "freeloading complainers"?
I've honestly never heard someone say "Well you watch the show for free so you don't get to complain" as some kind of defensive strategy, so I'm not really sure what you're referring to
Plus I also pay for a Crunchyroll subscription so I don't watch it for free.

Re: Is there really a problem with "freeloading complainers"?
It happens a lot more often then you might think. Specifically for anime where watching some of this stuff legally, much less paying for it to do so, can only become an option down the line.Asura wrote:I've honestly never heard someone say "Well you watch the show for free so you don't get to complain" as some kind of defensive strategy, so I'm not really sure what you're referring to

Hell, we didn't get a legal way to watch Super until the Goku Black Arc if not later.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.
