You could tell its Kitano in the preview because of the wonky faces, good idea to use him in the introduction to the ToP.

The storyboard behind Frieza trashing the assasins was great, i laughed when Frieza made those assasins head explode. So Hokuto No Ken.

So I'm guessing Animage just got Kitano and Itai backwards, so we'll have Itai with 9 weeks on episode 97. Very interested to see what he can bring with that time.

Shida does not disappoint. He killed it! Freeza got the animation that he deserves.

Added staff on the previous page.

Tiny staff list from Toei, this week. Interesting to see Tetsuya Saeki make his Super debut (I think?). He used to work on Dragon Ball back in the day!

So at this point Shida did two cuts for the Black arc, one for the intro and one for this arc. I might be getting a little ahead of myself, but I think he's here to stay. Not in a huge capacity, but he's almost certainly going to appear at key spots. What a blessing the man is!
I missed most of the second half so I'll rewatch it with subs later, so hope Tate was great too. Caught a lot of his art from where my stream dropped off and I liked it, though his and Shida's style certainly don't mesh well together. They are like polar opposites! It did get a little jarring.

Kitano looks decent next week and the NEP looks interesting as a whole. I can't wait to see what they have in store for the main event, considering animator comments, Karasawa's break, Higashide's absence for some time now, Shida's involvement and who knows what other guests they bring in!

Those visuals posted above are astounding, plus the slash smile that Freeza gave, resembling Black's. Unfortunately, I missed them because of stream reasons.

I wonder who animated this: [spoiler]

It has some kind of "Shida feel" but it isn't him

Instantly recognized Shida by the way he draws SSGSS, so awesome. Can't wait to see what he does in the ToP! So happy right now what a phenomenal episode.

Shida storyboarded the episode, that's why it feels like him.

Shida and Tate in the same episode?? HNNNNNNNG

Golden Freeza has never looked so good. So many amazing close-ups of him throughout the episode.

Golden Frieza only looks good because of the shiny highlights remaining on him throughout the duration of his appearance, without those he would look like a muggy yellow.

Next episode looks ugly, but I'm certain, that's as ugly as this arc is going to get. Still hopeful.

I'll be surprised if he's on this episode. The whole thing looks so alien and I just can't place it outside of the obvious Ide stuff.

There's the possibility he's been 100% redrawn or we just haven't seen anything resembling his style in any of these preview images, but I dunno. It's odd.
No a lot of those shots, movements and effects screamed TATE! of course this is being posted after the episode came out.

Let's just be grateful that Kitano isn't animating episode 97, which I highly believe is going to be a battle episode *shudders back to Goku vs. Botamo/Frost*. Save Kitano for the beginning, and let the slightly more appealing animators animate for the meat of the tournament.

And what a huge coincidence! Super's newest English dubbed episode (episode 22) on Adult Swim/Toonami includes Frieza and is also storyboarded by Shida!

Wow, that was awesome, too bad more stuff didn't happen in the Goku vs Freeza match, oh well.
Tate only had a few shots that looked a little rough, most of his work looked great.
Shida's art was sooooooooooo good, it's nice to have his amazing shading on full display in an episode of Super finally.

I wonder what Nashizawa Koji did in this episode. I could not tell. I also wonder when his next episode will be coming up.

Post production work was beautiful in this episode. There was so much atmosphere.

In terms of shading and lighting, damn, it was spectacular. I think they're going for that in the world of void too.
Where there's a bunch of ambient light around and a singular source of light that serves as a Rim-Light in interesting situations.

Very pretty stuff. I have high hopes for 97.

The only bits that stood out to me as him were corrected by Ide, but the cheek shading seemed like a giveaway in this instance:

On a different note, it was just pointed out to me that Nagamine co-directed this episode. Pretty cool to see him involved in some capacity. Looking forward to his inevitable solo effort.
