Wait, Kinoshita wasn't on this episode? Huh. Wonder if she was just busy with something else or if we are going to have two sets of Wanpak episodes in the rotation now.
Sodhi wrote:I wonder what Nashizawa Koji did in this episode. I could not tell. I also wonder when his next episode will be coming up.
Here's my guess for the next couple episodes
96- Kitano
97- Itai
98- Shimanuki
99- Yashima
100- Ishikawa
101- Nashizawa
102- Manabe
I think Karasawa's return shifted Nashizawa up, but he's probably spent a good amount of time since 89 working on this episode, but not the whole time.

On a different note, it was just pointed out to me that Nagamine co-directed this episode. Pretty cool to see him involved in some capacity. Looking forward to his inevitable solo effort.
Oh wow. It is always good to see the SD getting directly involved in an episode. I am happy that his first time came much quicker than others.
Golden Freeza looked sooooo damn good throughout the episode. My goodness, just look at some of these shots:

I just love his facial expression here

Amazing stuff.
The animation on this episode was glorious, the art on the first part was really nice, it got a little rough on the second part (probably Tate) but Shida nail it! I don't know why people are so impressed with him being present on this episode, every arc finale has to have his finger on it as this was the last episode of the Recruitment arc
Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.
That was absolutely beautiful. I wish SSB looked that good every time. The last few episodes have been absolutely night and day when compared to every other arc in Super.
I hope Shida releases his genga for the bit where Goku and Freeza are teleporting all around. The blur makes it hard to make out the details, but even still I can tell it has his crazy detailed shading all over it.
The first half was really well done, some interesting movement and lots of extremely polished artwork and even some interesting jaws like when Frieza got trapped in the sphere of destruction.
The second half somehow managed to one-up the first half with Tate delivering probably his most polished work to date. Even though his animation didn't shine through it did have it's moments such as Frieza torturing that random thug. I don't think there was a single overtly wonky piece of Tate art this episode. Also SHIDA's scene, while being extremely conservative was as always, very nice.

Overall, an extremely solid episode with little to nothing wrong with it. Hope to see more great episodes like this in the future.
The NEP wasn't great, it's Kitano afterall. I at least hope that next week isn't offensively bad.
We finally see Goku's Gi getting torn appart, I hope they do it again for the Tournament. Especially seeing him shirtless with big muscles and doing 10x Kaioken with Shida... (I also miss the Blue top Goku like in Buu saga)
I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me.

His gi got torn in Battle of Gods and the Future Trunks Saga.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

I mean, I want it to be all torned apart, and Goku battling with his torned Gi.

The three Freeza's episodes have been fantastic. They really are making justice to him.
Tate's rough style started to coming out in the second part, but it was nothing offensive.
Can't believe we got proper battle damage for Goku. Feels like it's been forever since the last time.
The small Goku vs Freeza scene animated by Shida humiliated the entire ROF arc.
For them to use Karasawa and Shida like this, I'm confident the Tournament will last long. I believe in them. This arc is full of right decisions and makes all the other DBS arcs pale in comparison when it comes animation, art and consistency.
They took out all the brakes and in the next episode right before Tournament to start we will even see some GoDs fighting. Crazy!
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota
I also loved seeing Goku's gi torn off like that so my only complaint is, WHY DID THEY FIX IT THE MOMENT SHIDA'S MAGIC KICKED IN!
Was it just me or did you guys also notice Toyotarou's now credited in the OP as a ''character draft cooperation'' キャラクター原案協カ in the shot of Goku after Vegeta's fight with Teletubby (he wasnt credited back then on ep 92 and blow, 93 and up his name popped out)
Wow. This episode looked so damn good!
The art and animation from Shida was incredibly good, the art gave me some 90s vibes. Wonderful episode, it got me even more hyped for the tournament.
