I realized something odd about the Namek aging process.
I just noticed it. When Goku killed Piccolo Daimou, Piccolo, of course, spat the egg containing the Piccolo we all know out. First, we get some clips of Piccolo as a kid, and then, fast-forward three years, and Piccolo is a fully grown Namek. Now apparantly, the Namekian aging process is incrediblly fast, but for Dende, he first appears in the Namek saga and we don't see him again until the Cell saga which is 4 years later. How come Dende remained a little kid even after 4 years, yet it took Piccolo 3 years to become fully grown and matured? It seems odd.
I think the moment Nappa said that Piccolo was a Namekian, we all figured out that Piccolo wasn't a demon like we all originally believed.
Don't think being a Warrior-type or special training had anything to do with his age. Otherwise, Piccolo woulda been an old prune by the time the Saiyans arrived.

I remember that. He never did it once after the Namek saga.Tsukento wrote:Don't worry about it. This is really nothing surprising considering Toriyama's done it more than once where he writes something and completely forgets about it later on. Like Goku's weird psychic abilities when he arrived on Namek.

Eh, he's a Demon in as much as Kami is a God. To me, "demon" or "god" is more of an alignment so to speak. Kami is pure good, therefore a "god" and Piccolo was/is his antithesis. Piccolo even says he is a "demon clansman," making it sound like a following more than an actual race.Tsukento wrote:I think the moment Nappa said that Piccolo was a Namekian, we all figured out that Piccolo wasn't a demon like we all originally believed.

That's how I looked at it. He's a Namek, but he's just considered a "demon."MajinVejitaXV wrote:Eh, he's a Demon in as much as Kami is a God. Now, Dabura is a straight Demon, no other way to put it, but Piccolo is just aligned with the Demons. I even remember him saying that he would turn Gohan into a Demon-clansman just like him in the Jpanaese version.

There was something about Raditz going to the other world. Did that officially mean that Piccolo was no longer a demon?
I mean its something Kami-sama was talking about with Mr. Popo, and I remember Karin-sama (in DB) saying something else about Piccolo Daimao's victims going into some kind of limbo or something.

Let's all not forget Dende's de-aging during the Buu Saga. He starts off older looking... and then by the time Buu blows up the Earth he's back to looking like a kid again.
As for Piccolo's fast aging I chalk it up to his "father's" wish. When King Piccolo wished for Eternal Youth he de-aged to a certain age. When he was killed he passed his own, eternally young, life force on to Piccolo. So Piccolo aged quickly to the 'eternal youth age' of his father since the wish was still in effect on him.

Yeah, they made a big deal about that because, apparently, those killed by a demon end up in limbo and not the afterlife. So the fact Raditz went to the afterlife signaled to them that Piccolo wasn't a demon/wasn't pure evil. I think it was just forshadowing on Toriyama's part that the new Piccolo wasn't evil incarnate like his father. There was something about Raditz going to the other world. <Kaboom> I'm just glad that he now sounds more like Invader Zim than Rita Repulsa
<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Haha, wow. I never noticed Dende's magically shifting age before, but in hindsight, yeah, really inconsistent.
As for Piccolo himself, it's definitely either one of those "Toriyama changed his mind" things (seeing as I'm not convinced he had the Namek thing planned out for an instant when Piccolo first showed up as "Ma Junior", runic shouting match between him and Kami or not) or just one of those off-screen fill-in-the-blank parts that make Dragonball so fun, like Yamcha's magically appearing scars.

Hey, I entirely forgot I had an account here. AGAIN.
