Power levels are the last thing you should use to guess who can beat who. This is the same show that had a Ssj2 Trunks go up against villains that SsjB had trouble with. For all we know Piccolo will be the one to take down Toppo.Vados_chan wrote:Too bad that's never going to happen cause Toppo is equal to Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken
There's no such thing as "Z manga"...Makai wrote:The Super anime is a continuation of the Z anime, the Super manga is a continuation of the Z manga.TheMikado wrote:So hears a legitimate question. Pikkon was shown at the end of Kai, yet Goku didn't even consider him. The Grand Kai also exists in the manga, but he has never been shown.Bullza wrote:It would definitely seem like Super followed the Kai continuity instead of Z especially as it aired directly after it.
From memory the things in Super like Gregory, Mr Satan's two lackeys and Bulma's reference to the Ginyu Frog incident and even the Ginyu Frog being on Earth....all that was included in Kai.
Now whether anything exclusive to Z's filler has been part of Super, I honestly can't recall anything. Princess Snake, Goz and Mez, Pikkon, the other Kai's, Grand Kai etc they haven't been in Super and they very easily could have because Pikkon could have been mentioned as part of the team.
They didn't even reference the Yo Son Goku OVA this time around.

You're comparing two different mediums cannot compare Super the anime with Dragon Ball the comic book, it absolutely has to be compared with it's anime counterpart. Toei aren't making a black and white comic book they're making a coloured animated television show that requires a heck more than one person totally different.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:Well... sort of, but not really. The pace of this arc is far slower than anything we got from the Z era. At least if we're comparing with the original manga, which at its slowest, still had something pertinent happening most of the time. If you're comparing to the Z anime... well, that's irrelevant, since the source material was always ahead and available.Hellspawn28 wrote:I don't mind the long wait that we have for this arc. This is a question worth answering. The idea of "Dragonball Canon" never had weight for me until I began to visit this forum which was around the time RoF was coming out. I wanted to learn more about one of my favorite series and the direction it was headed in. One of my first posts and threads I created here was about Cabba possibly being the LSSJ.Lord Frieza wrote:Mikado...why man, I mean really?Doctor. wrote:There's nothing in Super that outright contradicts the manga. Just because it uses anime elements doesn't mean it doesn't follow the manga's story, because obviously that's what Toriyama writes the outline around. It certainly seems like Toei sometimes takes filler into account but, at the same time, they know when to ignore it (the case of Freeza's Hell, for instance).TheMikado wrote:So hears a legitimate question. Have years of people yelling "GT is not cannon" scared you that much that you must at every potential opportunity try to "Decannonise" Super? Plenty of fans dont see it as any more cannon then GT, thats their choice for their own reasons. So what exactly will you, or anyone else for that matter, really gain from this?
Also as Doctor has pointed out there is nothing here that is even solid enough to try this again. Yardrat and its people are part of the manga but are never seen or physically described. If Toriyama and Toei want to base their design off of the filler they OK'd years ago, thats their choice and it will become the official design for the race. And again I must state until someone says "That Kale looks like Broly" we cant have that talk yet.
The VERY first response was from a moderator.TheMikado wrote:Sorry to post this here but I cannot create a new thread in the Super section.
Thinking about Cabba and what would make him so special. He of course could have God Ki like Vegeta and Goku, but at this point I guess its a possibility that everyone at the tournament could.
Anyway, we know that the LSSJ exists in the Saiyan race and Saiyans and their original planet are in Universe 6. Since Kabba seems to be unique because he's at the tournament it would be likely that he could/would be the LSSJ. This would also explain his young appearance and weak look. Brolly also underwent a massive transformation from base to LSSJ so it would be amazing to see the same here.
Thoughts? Would it make sense in the grand scheme of the tournament and why Cabba is there specifically in the first place. Saiyans natural power level is no where near as high as say Freeza's races natural strength so this is the only plausible thought I have without severe conflict present in their universe. They all seem way to at ease and relaxed for their universe to be a particularly stressful environment.
As a moderator and trusted source on this site, this was about as authoritative of an answer as you can get here. The remainder of the responses didn't get much better.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:You will not see Broli's "Legendary Super Saiyan" form in this story arc. That transformation is not the form from the legend in Toriyama's manga. That title belongs to the basic Super Saiyan state Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks and Goten already achieved long ago.
Then I even had this wonderful exchange explaining how arbitrary this idea of "canon" was.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't really care about canon, but Broli and the "Legendary Super Saiyan" form are not and will never be a factor in this story arc. Toriyama was the one responsible for writing the manga as well as the recent Beerus and beyond revival. While he did design him, Broli and his mutated Super Saiyan form are not a part of that work and were not his idea. The man does not care about stuff he didn't come up with (see his complete contradiction of the Bardock TV Special with Jaco/DB-, despite praising said special multiple times over the years), so his legendary Super Saiyan is what we've already seen basically every Saiyan on earth already unlock.TheMikado wrote:Except the legend specifically states every 1000 years. If the LSSJ status were achievable like you state then there is nothing unique about it and it could happen every 500, 100, or even every other year like it does in DBZ. Basically SSJ and legendary are two different ones due to the uniqueness and infrequency of its occurrence, unless you consider Brolly non canon?
Kuririn Fan wrote:Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten and Trunks are already Legendary Super Saiyans. LSSJ = SSJ1 in the canon world
The point I've always ever made is that dismissing ideas out of hand due to "canon" status has shut down conversation. You cannot expect someone to be beat over the head with the concept and then be upset when they view everything through the lens you've essentially forced them to look through. I still don't care about canon but if that's the fandom's concern and as has been reminded to me before that the original manga takes precedent then I will play by the rules established. I'm also not looking to turn this into a canon debate, my question really is about race which was filler getting formally confirmed, we've already had LSSJ form basically formally confirmed, and there are other possibilities of non-canon content being confirmed in the future as well as instances where it already has. What does this mean for Super or these specific instances? Are these items introduced as canon to the original manga to which serves as our primary source or is Super kicked out? I didn't create the concept of "canon", I'm merely following up with each new announcement and getting confirmation what is "canon" and what's not because otherwise any attempts to discuss it will be dismissed out of hand. So I hope this gives little insight into why, I care. Because I've been told repeatedly what is and isn't going to be part of Super.TheMikado wrote:If you are strictly saying anything within his vision is canon then that would include things he collaborated on as well? Because there is a LOT of stuff he didn't directly write or draw which we consider canon and in fact a lot he had much more hands on involvement which people consider "non-canon". That "vision" comment is arbitrary enough to allow parts of GT to be canon while parts of Z to not be canon.Kuririn Fan wrote:My man's Toriyama's vision, you know, the guy that created this whole thing.Lord Beerus wrote: What is this "canon" you speak of?![]()
It depends if you read viz's translation or not as they used "Z" for their second portion of the manga due to popularity of the anime.Hit!! wrote:There's no such thing as "Z manga"...Makai wrote:The Super anime is a continuation of the Z anime, the Super manga is a continuation of the Z manga.TheMikado wrote:So hears a legitimate question. Dragon Ball Z was the name that was given to the anime that covered the post Piccolo Arc timeskip part of the original Dragon Ball manga till the end.

Which surprises me cause we have Broly AND Gogeta coming back yet no one is talking about it.Xeztin wrote:Also don't know if it was mentioned or not...

That's not Gogeta. That's Gogoku, the fusion between Goku and Goku.Xeztin wrote:

I don't see how it relates to Super at all, and Broly God was showed long ago... Not to mention that I doubt it's Gogeta. If he is, he's extremely bad designed. His hair looks like some strange mix of base and SSB (and it has Goku's SS hairstyle and face) and his clothes doesn't fit at allsintzu wrote:Which surprises me cause we have Broly AND Gogeta coming back yet no one is talking about it.Xeztin wrote:Also don't know if it was mentioned or not...
