More form sorting help needed (it's a list this time)

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

More form sorting help needed (it's a list this time)

Post by cheddarsword » Wed Jun 28, 2017 8:18 pm

This is the last bits of research I need done for the project I'm working on (a full chart of all known saiyans and all forms they have achieved) and I need help sorting the facts and if certain forms are legitimate.

Psuedo Super Saiyan
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Pseudo_Super_Saiyan
I'm sure most are familiar with this form, but the information from DB Wiki seems to contradict some of what I've heard, which is that this form was indeed supposed to be Super Saiyan, but there was a problem with the colors used.

Saiyan Beyond God
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Saiyan_beyond_God
I'm not questioning it's existence, I'm questioning it's status as a form. Essentially, it's just powered up base. Then again, so is Kaioken, but that's considered a form.

Spirit Bomb Super Saiyan
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Spirit ... per_Saiyan
This seems to be accepted as it has appeared in multiple video games after it's unveiling in Super 13. The thing is, in Budokai 3, Goku can use the form/power up in his many SS states. It has even been used by other various characters Including Vegeta. But is it a true form/form variation, or just one hell of a power up?

Strongest Form 1 (Baby Vegeta)
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Strongest_Form_1
I know the form exists, but how the hell do you label this? According to the Wiki, it's equivalent to Super Saiyan 2.

Strongest Form 2 (Baby Vegeta)
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Strongest_Form_2
Again, how do you label this? According to the Wiki, it's equivalent to Super Saiyan 3.

Ultra-Full-Power Saiyan 4
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Ultra- ... r_Saiyan_4
I'm thinking this is less a transformation and more a powerup, but if we count FPSS as a form... Oh yes, Broly can do it to, but it's named something more sensible:

Full Power Super Saiyan 4
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Super_ ... Full_Power
God this shit gets ridiculous... Apparently, this is Full Power Legendary Super Saiyan 4. Yeah. I know it's a video game only form/power up but still...

Legendary Great Ape
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Legendary_Great_Ape
Okay, THIS actually makes sense. This is supposed to be Broly's answer to Golden Oozaru. It's a video game only form that appears in both Heroes and Fusions. Interestingly enough, Broly has his tail in this form. At least, in Fusions. I can't tell for Heroes.

Super Saiyan Power
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Saiyan_Power
I'm digging as deep as I can here. It's an anime and game only form, but considering that it's spread even to (i think) Dokkan battle and similar forms exist, I feel the form has a certain legitimacy. It at least warrants a consideration.

Super Kaioken (Super Saiyan Kaioken)
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Kaio-ken
I know the form's usage isn't canon, but given that he pulled the same stunt to even worse effect with SSB during the U6 arc, I would think that it's at least plausible. Granted, he was dead when he did it. Thoughts?

Fused Zamasu's Super Saiyan form.
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Fused_Zamasu
I was wondering about this. If you head down to the Forms and Transformations section, they mention that since Black was using Rose during Fusion, Fused Zamasu retains the form during Fusion. Obviously something's going on, that's for sure, but can this still be called SSR? I would think Super Saiyan Kaioshin would be more accurate.

Broly God
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Broly_God
I know that literally nothing is known about the form or how Broly got his hands on it, but considering that they're calling it the LSS version of SSG, I obviously have some questions as this shares NOTHING with the SSG form. At this stage, all we can do is question weather or not this is truly "Legendary Super Saiyan God", "Legendary Super Saiyan Blue", or something completely different. We CAN however deduce that he has Godly Ki.

I know this is all from DB Wiki, but that's one of the things that concerns me.

I have questions about Kale's version of LSS (berserker?) as well, but given that we're still a few weeks away from seeing the form again, I'll hold off for now. Can anyone give me the TRUTH behind these forms before I go adding them to my chart and looking like an idiot?

Yeah, "False Super Saiyan" or "Pseudo-Super Saiyan" is not really a thing. People tried to make it its own separate form long after the fact in an attempt to explain away the perceived inconsistency (even though the movies aren't part of the main series continuity to begin with, so there really is no inconsistency), but in the Lord Slug movie it's clearly just Super Saiyan -- King Kai says it's Super Saiyan, the movie's title in Japanese is "Super Saiyan Son Goku," and so on. In the Lord Slug movie, that's just what the real Super Saiyan form looks like -- call it an alternate-universe Super Saiyan form that only exists in the universe that movie is set in if you want to call it anything different.

Basically, the reason why the form looks different in that move is that they had no idea what colors to use for the form -- the official appearance of Super Saiyan that would be used in the manga and anime hadn't been revealed yet at the time the movie was made, so Toei had to make their own version. I guess you could compare it to Vegeta's wacky color scheme (orange+green armor, red-brown hair) from their first appearance in the anime, when Toei had their designs in black and white but their final color schemes hadn't been decided on.
Spirit Bomb Super Saiyan
I would describe this as just an alternate way of using the Spirit Bomb -- absorbing its energy for a power-up rather than projecting the energy outward as a blast. It's not a form any more than "Super Saiyan Using Kamehameha" is a form. I don't see any reason this would be unique to Super Saiyans, anyone else who managed to learn the Spirit Bomb would be able to do something similar.
Bebi-Vegeta's forms
I don't think there's been any "official" description of these forms either way, but comparing them to SSj2 and SSj3 seems like a fairly safe bet. I'm guessing the difference in appearance is down to Bebi's presence, so Vegeta isn't purely Saiyan during these transformations. Kinda like how Cell's power-ups which seem to be his variations on of SSj (first shown when Imperfect Cell powers up massively and can now easily overpower Piccolo and match #16) and SSj2 ("Super Perfect") just give him a golden aura and/or lightning without changing his eye color (or magically giving him hair. XD)
Full Power/Ultra Full Power Super Saiyan 4
This seems to be the form/power-up that' I've seen described as "Super Saiyan 4 Beyond Limits" around here. Considering that it's just Goku getting energy from others to power up, and the same exact thing happens with him in regular Super Saiyan form at the end of the first Broly movie and then again in Battle of Gods (with the first failed attempt at the Super Saiyan God ritual, described as a huge boost but still not nearly enough to make him a match for Beerus), I think it's safe to say this is not really a form in and of itself, and not unique to SSj4.

Broly's version... doesn't really seem to be anything different from Broly's standard SSj4, at least in appearance. At least, I can't really see any differences going by the pictures used -- he's huge and bulked-up in both, the only possible difference is maybe aura color and it's hard to even guess at that since they used a card for one picture and a game screenshot for the other. I'm not sure who gave Broly their energy to power him up, or if he just magically got a power-up on his own, but I don't really see how this is separate from "Legendary SSj4."
Super Saiyan Power
Now this is a coloring goof. Goku was animated as a Super Saiyan during the scenes with him and Paikuhan in Hell, and then they decided that they didn't want him revealing that form until during their fight in the tournament so instead of going back and redoing the animation so he had base-form hair and no golden aura... they just recolored his hair to black.

The Dragon Ball Heroes ability of the same name seems to be absolutely unrelated, since it's just a power-up that happens if you use a Kamehameha and then go Super Saiyan afterward.
