Nappa's elite status

Was Nappa actually a Saiyan elite or was he just a highly awarded lacky for Vegeta? I seem to remember somewhere that Nappa wasn't really an elite, can't remember though and just wanted to double check.

It wasn't explicitly stated that Nappa was an elite Saiyan, but it is stated that he was one of the strongest Saiyans - that makes him elite in my book.
Also, knowing the Saiyans' obsessive pride, Vegeta wouldn't allow anything lower than elite the privilege of standing within his presence

There's also one screenshot of Nappa with King & Prince Vegeta and a bunch of other (presumably elite) Saiyans one of them even has blond hair! SSj? during the episode in which Vegeta dies (Freeza arc).

I believe i heard somewhere that he is the millitary leader, or something like that.

In the new season one, he says he was the commander-in-chief of the whole Saiyan Army. He's an elite.

I think there was an old thread concerning that line ('"Captain" Nappa?')... I think the conclusion was that it was a madeup line that may or may not have held merrit, but I could be remembering thingrog.

Nappa shrugged of Chaotzu's (spelling?) TELEKINESIS with his ki alone. He is indeed Saiya-jin elite.

Concerning his position in the saiyan army.

He's like... more than twice Raditz's level without going all-out, so ... umm... the only thing that leaves me wondering is Bardock. But I'd imagine that Nappa is not mondo Elite but still elite, if that makes sense...
