I'm not seeing the problem. If they were omitting charas in favor of more Gokus, yeah, but they're not.

Thank you. Why do people keep complaining "Oh there are 500 Vegeta's and 84 Goku's we don't need that many!". What does it matter? It's not like if they put in another Goku they can't put in a different character.

Not all Goku's have transformations, and some only have one.

Kid Goku - Oozaru
Early Goku - None
Mid Goku - SSJ
Late Goku - SSJ - SSJ2 - SSJ3
GT Goku - SSJ - SSJ3 - SSJ4

So that's 14 instead of twenty, and I don't remember transformations counting, but I'm not going to say they don't.

Yeah, that's basicly my issue. Though, there's not 20, but there is a lot. Kid Goku, Oozaru Goku, Goku (early), Goku (mid), SSJ Goku (mid), Goku, SSJ Goku, SSJ2 Goku, SSJ3 Goku, GT Kid Goku, SSJ GT Kid Goku, SSJ3 Kid Goku, and SSJ4 Goku. That's 13 Gokus. That's more Gokus than you'll find characters in all of Hyper Dimension.

Not even Gohan or Vegeta are that bad. For Gohan we've got Kid Gohan, Teen Gohan, SSJ Teen Gohan, SSJ2 Teen Gohan, Gohan, SSJ Gohan, SSJ2 Gohan, "Ultimate" Gohan, and Saiyaman. That's 9. Vegeta's got Scouter, Oozaru, Vegeta, SSJ Vegeta, SSJU Vegeta, Vegeta (second form), SSJ Vegeta (second form), SSJ2 Vegeta (second form), Majin Vegeta, and SSJ4 Vegeta. That's 10.

So, that's 9 + 10 + 13. That's 32 characters.

You guys know that 161 is only an estimate... right?

Last I heard, no, it wasn't. They were saying 161 characters. Exactly. No more, no less, no estimating.

. I'm not complaining I think it’s somewhat neat but the similarities between Final bout and the Tenkaichi series struck me ever since the first game of the series. I won't get into that now but yeah don’t take what I said as a comment attacking the game or anything, believe me I have better reasons for being iffy about BT3. If my goal was to insult the game I wouldn't start on the number of Gokus.

Then do the math.
See how much characters we got now, see how many it takes to reach 161. Then cross-reference that with the completly new characters and how much more it takes to reach 20. You'll see what I mean. Plus if you add the "we'll add has much character we can until the game is out" quote (it was something to that effect).

Yeah, I left him out of the Gohan count largely because I consider him a distinctly different charater, in the series as well as the games. Where as all of the Gokus and Vegetas and other Gohans are just flowing from A to B he's off on his own path. Just like I view Kid Trunks and Future Trunks as distinctly different.

We're 5 new characters short of 161 characters.

Also, you need to consider printing and distribution time. They can't be working on the game any later than a month and a half prior to release (and even that is fairly generous). Granted, release is still a good ways off (it's November for all regions, right?) but I think they've already added all of their 'extras', hence why they've given an exact figure (161) where as, until now, it has always been "Over [insert rounded number here]!" before.

Had I a Wii, I'd have to agree. Though I'd likely be the Yamcha that gets eliminated in the first round. Then I'll let my 8-year-old cousin play and he'll filter out all of the novices. Then one of the ultra masters that will make it to the semifinals will take him out. Meaning I'll have no idea what actually happens. Meaning we must have a Mr. Anouncer!

It's almost as if the first two Sparking games were solely to lay the foundation of the game with as little attention to detail as possible while still being playable, but now the 3rd one is coming they seem to be going all out!

Kind of like Budokai 3 to Budokai 1 and 2...
