Super Animation Catalogue 2.0
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 93
I agree with most of what you said.
But Goku vs Bergamo was one of the weakest part of the arc, doesn't make a lot of sense to use that if visual quality was what they wanted.
Also, it's preposterous to compare cheap FX in a NEP that can most likely be tweaked easily, to entire scenes that re-use animations. Those are not magically gonna go away.

Yes, i think this is what Tu was referring to. But given the interpretation Ajay gave his tweet, it could be something else. Either way, people are seriously overreacting taking it to twitter and going into the account of an animator and insulting him. This is why someone said before (i think it was Ajay), that the fans interacting with the animators on twitter should not become a norm, because those people work extremely hard and people asking them stupid questions and insulting them whenever an episode looks bad will probably affect their work on the series.
Super disrespectful.. This fandom can be so dissapointing sometimes.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 93
I watched the episode again today, just to see if I was being too harsh with my judgement last night. I came to the same conclusion as last time, it was a pathetic whimper when what we needed was an aggressive shock. Nothing interesting to talk about for the beginning of such a supposedly grand event.
That said, the behavior I've seen, specifically from one particular individual on twitter, has been incredibly rude. I feel as one who's been a more adamant detractor so far, I need to put out there that neither I nor any of the several people I've spoken to who agree with me condone this unacceptable behavior. It upsets me to be reminded of how horrible and juvenile this community can really be.

You are mixing Tu and Shin up.Mazingerdestro wrote:

When did Shin Youngsoon hype anyone?
I remember posting a comment, where he was saying that he had a bad feeling and that there were serious issues. Yes later he said that he was getting good vibes from Nagamine but he never retracted that the production was facing issues. Maybe after seen all this chaos, Nagamine decided instead of going "full original animation", to initiate bank animation processes early, to secure that the good stuff in the middle/end will look good instead of mediocre. The NEP means nothing. Last week's NEP had cheap explosions, which were fixed for the episode's broadcast. This people work like crazy all the time.
And Ajay later explained the Tu comment saying it wasn't a doom and gloom thing, just that work was tough.

Still that doesn't just change the fact that this act is awful. Why even go to a random animator complaining and insulting for a production?

Exactly... You are in your right to dislike an episode and to think it was complete shit, but going to twitter and insulting the animators??Jinzoningen MULE wrote:I watched the episode again today, just to see if I was being too harsh with my judgement last night. Probably because the person who did it is a dick who is completely ignorant of the details of anime production.Mazingerdestro wrote: (thanks for the correction)

Actually this is just fine with me.
How many times have you seen all these cool action bits in an opening that never happen in a show? Just don't go showing the same thing (cough fembroly) 17 times.
And in principle it's the same as something like this

Even normal people that don't know too much animation didn't really complain about reused animation and usually the same people who bash on Super's animation didn't even notice much until people on twitter made this more obvious. And this also caused someone calling an animator a liar! I mean, come on! People on this thread were so negative about this episode...

You cant even talk animation in youtube comments without some dude going "BUT [gasps for air] LIKE U DONT GET IT [gasps while smacking on doritos] DRAGON BALL IS TOEI'S GREATEST FRANCHISE SO THEY HAVE TO HAVE 100% MOVIE QUALITY ANIMATION AT ALL TIMESD!" I wish that were a straw-man....ok the dorito bits were
POINT IS: people actually think that DBZ, the super cheap weekly anime series, should have the most animation out of any show ever even 12 episode 1 cour shows. And those weekly reactionaries (they are NOT reviewers, they dont look critically at anything, they just react to it) keep going into [read this in fornever's voice] "yooooo....de animation was so crudsty"
"Does Toei not..." "Toei stepped up their...." "Toei's animation........" which leads to the popular perception that Instead of it being the particular animators and directors of an episode, it's just Toei, and crusty animation. Why? because people dont know names they are completely unaware of just how freelance this industry is.
Back on AP forums for One Piece the people over there (I believe it was Crossword who started this) actually have the episode's head-honchos in the opening posts for each episode. Kanzenshuu has this "SUPER ANIMATION GUIDE" and the main site has an actual production guide. None of those goobers on youtube bother to do the slightest bit of research. The only name they know is "Naotoshi Shida" and "The Guy who's work looks kinda like Shida's" (Yoshikazu Tomita) And this leads people to never noticing differences in animation, and styles, yet they speak with such authority on "animation" an art they know nothing about. People still think anime moves at 24 drawings a second at all times even with the obvious use of still images. or people who say "these episodes are made in a week"
it's absolutely maddening.

You forgot "Super's budget is too low. If only they would give more money the animation would look better". Opm had like billions in every episode!!! I fucking hate it when these youtubers say stuff like "the animation budget was low for this episode" or "they're saving the budget for later". My god if it was that simple Super would have One Punch Man tier animation by now.
But its the typical capitalist mindset, that everything revolves around money.

It's not like they're constantly working on around 8 major projects per-year or anything... no no, they're just greedy."Toei makes so much money why cant they put more of it into One Piece/Dragon Ball? they're greedy capitalist pigs"

Honestly, whenever I see those kind of comments I just link Ajay's videos to them, simple. I mean it's just mildly annoying but there are still popular channels like Geekdom101 who don't fall into this trap so it's not so bad.
Feel free to correct me if I say something wrong.
