One Minute Melee: Gohan Vs. Superboy

Post by cheddarsword » Sun Jul 02, 2017 9:00 pm

Looks like One Minute Melee is starting off it's 5th season with a DB related fight:

And the winner is:
Gohan
It seems that Goku will also be participating this season with Freeza making a return. Previously, he defeated Mewtwo who is also returning. Rematch?.

Frieza vs Mewtwo is such a weird match up to me.

One was caught by a 10 year old kid and his six Pokémon. The other can blow up a planet (or a universe now I guess) with ease.

How do they determine the winner? Fan votes? Anylizing of their strengths and weaknesses? I remember most of the Superman vs Gokou fights I have seen have Superman winning.

I could be wrong, but I think One Minute Melee seems to have been separated from Screw Attack about 2 seasons ago. As for how they pick the winner, I'm not sure. When they did Hulk Vs. Broly, it could have been based on what they thought the fans would like or just personal preference. The guy who runs it, Mali, seems to like Anime. I don't think he's completely biased though, as when they did Akuma Vs. Kenpachi, Akuma won all 3 fights.

To my knowledge, they don't analyze though. They used to make a note of that in the early seasons. I can only imagine it was because they were ran by Screw Attack at the time and they wanted to make sure it was known that it wasn't supposed to be Death Battle.

Not sure why the separation occurred, but I can only imagine that it's the reason we now have DBX.

Supposedly, Mewtwo can cause instant amnesia, and his Y Mega Evolution only increases his Telekinetic power. Not sure if of it's accuracy, but watch the Mewtwo Vs. Shadow Death Battle.
Everybody would also need to disable seeing the like/dislike bar if they don't want it spoiled. I think the only time I've seen the bar not plummet when DC won one of these battles (made by anybody not just screwattack and omm) was with Martian Manhunter vs Piccolo.
