Any strange voice stories? (Or strange quotes)

Post by JusticemilkVegetablewoman » Tue Aug 28, 2007 9:21 pm

In one of my games, I believe it was Shin Budokai: Another Road, could be wrong, the voice actors sounded sooooo bored. XD I laughed so hard at one of Goku's. I can't remember what, but it was a while back. I noticed the higher voices, ie: Goku, Gohan, Krillin, were a little lower than usual. It was like they'd done it so long they'd gotten their voices tired. I also noticed typos in a few games. Like Shin Budokai.

On another note, I like that they've started letting them curse a little in the games. It's better than the "Holy Cosmos!" Ionce heard Vegeta say in the show... XD I'd love to hear other instances like these. Where either the voices sound tired, or there are typos or things that just sound strange.

I know that the acting in the BT3 demo was quite lackluster. Quite bluntly, the performances sucked. Also, it seemed contrary to what you were saying about the cursing. I was constantly hearing little bits about "sending you to the next dimension" and such. Good thing I switch to the Japanese voices.

The "next dimension" stuff in recent games, I think, is a joke. Like how Kaiousama says "Hell... or HFIL as it's called in some circles...."

And although I haven't played Shin Budokai 1, I read the script and there's a lot of Hell jokes. "I've got to go to Hell to find Kakarrot!", "Aren't you going to Hell?" and the like.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Shin Budoukai's script is just weird. (Vegeta absorbing the genki dama? VEGETA absorbing the genki dama?!) Though I wish I could watch (or at least find) some of those cut scenes.
On hiatus.

Well I guess it could be linked to the strange voices thing, probably;

All of the faces in the BT games that have exactly the same expression on them no matter what, it's kind of annoying and I wish they'd put more effort in to making the fighters look like they're in pain.

It just doesn't seem right when Goku says Kamehameha with feeling behind it but his face just looks like :| (he does have an angry face during the first part of the Warp Kamehameha though...)

As for strange quotes, I dare any of you to find a stranger quote than Vegeta saying "YOU AUNT SALLIES!" or Goku calling Nappa and Vegeta "Meanies" in Budokai 1. :)

IN BT2, Cell Saga Gohan sounds very forced and wooden whenever he says "Ow." It just doesn't seem real at all.

Cell-saga Gohan should only say "ow" in base form. He's too freaked out in ssj and too "I'm gonna kick your ass!" in ssj2.
Then again, he could be played to sound extremely whiney. Be glad I'm not doing the voice of Gohan.

Cell Saga Gohan (in Super DBZ with the Japanese voices) sounded really bored in his Dragon Finish, it was a bit of an anti climactic Kamehameha until he blows up the freaking moon.

Then all is well :)

Wow, a lot of responses! XD Unhappy with dubs. I like Japanese voices too, although I do like the US Goku much better. Has anyone spotted those typos I was talking about? I think it was near the beginning of Shin Budokai. (Too lazy to look for herself.)

Most of the voice actors in the US version of Final Bout were a bit odd. I'm referring to the ones you hear when you pick your character at the selection screen.

For some reason that was the copied version floating around my school about 6-7 years ago with the English voices, and I thought it was pretty cool at the time.

Didn't Piccolo say something like "Time to clean out the trash of the universe?"

Typos? In the Tenshinhan saga set by FUNimation, a line in the ending theme song goes "Don't go hiding you're youth." That could just be weird Japanese wording, but I think that's a typo.

There's one dub line in Budokai 3 that cracks me up. During the Namek Saga, after receiving a Senzu from Goku, Vegeta said "What!? My Body!" in a very deep and provocative manner that it sounds wrong (Ick). Gotta love Sabat for that. :P

XD My Mom said she didn't like Chris Sabat's voice... I like him better than Brian Drummand, though. I have GOT to go back and replay these games. I always did enjoy when two characters that had some history between them said something referring specifically to the other. (ie:Vegeta/Goku)
