Nice sentiments, but yes, a lot of exaggeration and misinformation. Not really the end of the world. Seems the point of the video was to keep the amount of time that goes into these episodes in mind when talking about the show's visuals. Fair enough, I guess.lunaticthegame wrote:Mastar Media made a video explaining why Toei is utilizing bank animation. From what I've seen, it has some inaccuracy

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 93
That was okay, nothing amazing, nothing terrible, there were some nice cuts and some nice direction even though overall the episode was only okay. They used some of the reused animation effectively by changing the characters, so that's nice. Tsuji was basically the supervisor this episode, Shimanuki was barely there and only near the end and he wasn't as polished as he was in 90, wonder what's up with that.
I didn't spot any reused animation in the NEP, anyone else?

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 93
Today's episode was decent for me. I did not enjoy the 1st first half but the 2nd half was solid. I think the reused animation was used better in this episode than the last one.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 93
there is a reused animation from episode 84 where krillin fires the kamehameha, and 1 more which i didn't focus onArchedThunder wrote:That was okay, nothing amazing, nothing terrible, there were some nice cuts and some nice direction even though overall the episode was only okay. A solid episode. Nothing really noteworthy to mention. Solid art throughout and serviceable action, even if some repeated frames looked at little sub par. And thankfully, the reused animation was a little less in your face than it was last week.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 93
The bit of Goku fighting Bergamo from the intro was a piece of the whole fighting animation sequence, so that wasn't as obvious as Rō's bit when the camera zooms into his eye, which was played twice.

They did a good job, they shortened some of the recycled bits and the new stuff was doing its job.
Nothing to complain about honestly. The last NEP was probably made the way it was because the episode's production was rushed to hell. So it turned out fine all things considered.

Fuck that staff list. "Literally who" to some of those. Took forever to translate!
That episode was nicely directed. I'm not even going to pretend for a second that it was well animated, since it was pretty uninteresting on the whole. The reused animation made its return, but it flowed more naturally into the action than last week. Still not too pleased that it's there, but whatever.
It's nice to see names like Tu and Miuma next to Higashide. Glad our golden boy isn't alone anymore. Hope to see them deliver competent work as the tournament progresses.
Shimanuki's animation was mostly standard stuff from him, but as always, it's his close-ups that shine. Pretty much got what I wanted from him, so that's fine.

Yeah, I don't recognize a lot of those names, but it's good to see new people!
Interesting that this wasn't outsourced other than some work from TAP.
I really want to know why Shimanuki was as sparse as he was and not near as polished as in episode 90.

Maybe they are having him for the finale or close to? I found it weird he was on so early considering that that none of the big guns are in and around yet.ArchedThunder wrote:Yeah, I don't recognize a lot of those names, but it's good to see new people!

Nah I doubt it has anything to do with that it has been a theme in this arc for the NEP's to be essentially in a word crap, they been showing pretty much all the worst or uninteresting things in the NEPs.Slaythe wrote:They did a good job, they shortened some of the recycled bits and the new stuff was doing its job.

Those really are bunch of no names and TAP. I won't be surprised if it took a lot of hard work to correct lol.

What were the odds of them picking literally only re-used scenes in an episode that had almost none though ?Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Maybe they are having him for the finale or close to? Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 93
I loved how this episode had more action that got my attention than last week, the reused animation was very well used, I don't mind any recycled animation as long as it looks as good as it did in this episode, the use of it was clever and blended well with the action going on, specially the cut of Tate used in the Opening, in my opinion, blended perfectly in between cuts.
Also loved the direction of the episode, kinda wished the new characters had a bit more time though. The appearence of a barrier was clever against Lavender, really liked the effect, Vegetto's barrier used on Buu needs to upgrade to Super version lol.
The episode got me at the edge of my chair at the end, the way Universe 9 was erased and how all the other warriors look kinda afraid at the Grand Priest and Zen-Oh sama was so intense it was an amazing cliffhanger for the next episode.
The animation was fine, had some rough art in some cuts, but it's tenfolds better than last week atleast.
This episode was a lot better than last week, things are starting to rev up, really liking it so far!

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 93
Decent episode. Didn't had amazing animation but still enjoyed it. I think we had a new storyboard artist for this episode, as sodhi had pointed out on his Twitter.
Overall a decent episode. Somewhat of a case like 90 I guess. Didn't had great animation but had a good intensity to it.

#98
It was "OK".
The episode used loads of Bank and repeated frames throughout both halves, stealing stuff from 61,79,80,81,90, the OP and 95 on a first inspection. However, they actually managed to make it not stick out as badly as it did last episode, and the made minor modifications to scenes to achieve this. The episode was decently directed, and on a whole was completely serviceable, but it kind of left me wanting more.
There weren't really any highlights from the episode, though I must say I like how that iron skinned guy and how that ice golem launched there attacks, it was pretty snappy and decently well done. Outside of that, there was nothing particularly noteable.
The NEP doesn't look particularly special, though the art was definitely polished, and I only saw a tiny bit of bank animation in it, though you would really have to look for it. The BANK is mainly coming from 84 and relates to Kuririn firing the Kamehameha and throwing some Kienzan's.
Also, was it just me, or did the NEP have some Tate in it.

So I wasn't the only one who thought there were one or two Tate looking shots in the NEP. Especially the first bird scene.
