I'm not truly understanding the concept of the Grand Priest being evil (hinted by multiple users here).
I just find it likely he's of a more careless type character, that he may not think of anything beyond performing his own duties. Probably lives a really comfortable life without worries and does not experience the same things lower beings experience. It would not surprise me if there are quite diverse beings in higher powers who act vastly different than another equally important beings. Honestly I think we are quick to judge this situation and I am predicting right now he's not going to be a villain in the DB franchise. And I agree with a few other users that his gap in power compared to other Z fighters are going to be too great to fight.

The problem is that the Grand Priest has come across as being a little too happy at the idea of universes getting destroyed. He even gave Goku a pretty devious smirk at the end of episode 98. I'm not saying that he's guaranteed to be a villain, but I feel that he's been depicting him in a manner that wouldn't be out of place for a future villain.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:I'm not truly understanding the concept of the Grand Priest being evil (hinted by multiple users here).

Like I said in another thread, what reason could be possibly have to be evil? He's the second most powerful character behind Zeno, and he pretty much already makes decisions for him. They've been alive, ruling the multiverse for billions of years. He's kind of beyond 'good and evil.' If he wanted the Universes erased, or whatever elaborate plot he could have, I'm sure it would've been carried out by now.

Even if he's not supposed to be a villain, per see, this whole manner in which he's being depicted definitely shows that he's not necessarily to be trusted, and a character you should watch out for. Zen-Oh treats the erasure of an entire universe as child's play, a quick jolt of self-fulfilled extra entertainment, but those eyes when he announced that Universe 9 would be erased. Damn. That dude is messed up.WittyUsername wrote:The problem is that the Grand Priest has come across as being a little too happy at the idea of universes getting destroyed. People here and on other threads are saying that Goku and any other fighter or God of Destruction are nowhere near the level of the Daishinkan. But, they don't really have to be. We've seen how willing Zeno is erasing everything. If GP actually acknowledges that he's up to no good in front of everyone at the end of the tournament, Goku could say to Zeno "Hey, don't you think you should erase him?" and maybe he would. Zen-Oh's kinda unpredictable. Up to the this point, the Daishinkan has been pretty good to Zen, and the nicest thing Z's done for him is give him a piece of candy.

Well the GP doesn't have to be the villain the second that the ToP ends. And Ginyu was only 1/1000th as strong as Freeza and Goku fought them only a few hours apart. Or go a little further back Freeza was around 6,666x as powerful as regular Vegeta but Goku surpassed that in like a month, and without KK he was less than half of Vegeta during the Saiyan arc. Heck Goku went from low 400s to ~150,000,000 in about a year, that's around a 350,000x increase. You could very very easily fit all the GoDs, mortals, and angels that are stronger than Goku inbetween Goku and GP with any one of those gaps.Asura wrote:It would be like Majin Buu coming to Namek when Goku is already getting trashed by Freeza. He might be able to overcome and defeat Freeza, but there's no way in hell he can beat Buu.WittyUsername wrote:I don't get why people are saying that the Grand Priest can't be a villain because of how strong he is. Are we forgetting how much stronger Freeza was than everyone else at the beginning of his titular arc? At the beginning of that arc, Freeza in his weakest form was more than 20 times stronger than Vegeta, who himself was significantly stronger than Gohan and Kuririn.
Similarly, Whis is stronger than Beerus, and Beerus is assumed now to still be stronger than Goku, or maybe we can even put them around the same strength if we're being generous. Goku has never even landed a hit on Whis, I think the closest he's ever gotten was biting him. The Grand Priest is even much stronger than Whis.
Basically, he's so far above and beyond Goku that Goku would have to surpass multiple people ahead of him before even being up to the challenge of fighting the Grand Priest. So while Goku might be able to beat Freeza (who would be Beerus in this instance, but he probably can't even do that) he'll never be able to beat Buu (Whis) or someone that's even far, far stronger than Buu, like Beerus (Grand Priest in this instance)
So imagine if Namek Goku had to become stronger than Freeza, stronger than Buu, and just as strong as Beerus, all while on Namek. That's basically how impossible it would be for Goku to win.
And we have already seen giant jumps in Super as well. A bunch of people are now stronger than Buu saga Gogeta or possibly Vegetto (and I think most say Vegetto), base Vegeta one shotted a guy that was said to be equal to Gohan at his peak pre-RoF. Goku is going SSB against anybody in sparring matches. Gohan some how got way weaker and then almost instantly became stronger than ever.
And its not like a giant gap would be needed for Whis to say the GP is out of his league. He might be thousands of times Whis or he might be like 2x. We've seen people say similar things with smaller gaps.

Where is Zarama??
Re: Do you want the Grand Priest to be the next villain?
You know, that was so weird. Gohan said that Tagoma was equal to Gohan when he was at the top of his game (Buu arc Mystic Gohan i supposed). Yet when Ginyu took his body, it was stated that he got even more powerful, because Ginyu was able to use Tagoma's body even better than him, because Ginyu has more fighting experience and bla bla bla. The problem i find with this is that Gohan then turns SSJ and one shots Ginyu in Tagoma's body who was stated to be at the very least, equal to Gohan when he was at his best. So rusty Gohan was able to one shot someone who was stronger than him when he was at his peak??dario03 wrote:

Shit was ridiculous, one of the most badly written episodes in all of Dragon Ball.
