There's a fine line between dressrosa pace and doing a little backstory on people. I admit I was getting really annoyed with what one piece was doing to draw things out, even though I'm a huge fan. Super seems to treat everything rushed. I was one of the few people who enjoyed the recruitment episodes (aside from Tiens and roshi).
Get off your high horse and making it seem like everyone is crazy for wanting the series to go more in depth with the characters.
People want them to in-depth with the most minor of characters in the series. that's my problem here.
we only knew like three things about characters like Dabura back in dbz which was that he the king of demons, worked for Badidi and was the strongest demon there. nowadays the only new thing we about him is that he has sister who is non canon anyways.

No one comes to Dragonball for backstory.
I'm just gonna say I agree with this and I don't feel like debating for pages on this site anymore.

I get your point but Toriyama was never Togashi,Oda or Araki Hirohiko in that aspect.

Ahhhh. Yeah I'm not too interested of knowing every single characters story. People like Cabba who regularly appears now is someone I personally would like to know more about. Maybe a reason why toppo is so enthusiastic about justice. Is it natural or did he have a super hero he looked up to and wanted to mimic?
Little stuff like that would help with empathizing and emotional investment with the characters. Just not to the extreme like naruto and one piece.
How i predict the tournament will end:

I can agree with you on that tho, I don't see the point of giving super minor characters like magetta, bat u9 dude or botamo a back story.
