I don't MIND the recycled music from the games; what I do mind is that we could have something better and we don't because the publisher hates us.

They dont hate us, so much as they dont wanna fork out for the music copyrights, they probably realise that most western fans watch the funidub with the mostly horrible music to match the cringe inducing VA performances.

We a know that most western DB/DBZ fans hate on the japanese music and pay out on the original character voices ie goku sounds like a girl (or in the strange reverse for me: WTF? funi made king cold sound very drag queenish  ).

I really like Dragon Ball's original soundtrack, but I don't hate the game's either. Especially in the Sparking series, which let's the theme be chosen by the player, rather than the stage fixed ones from the Budokais I've played.

NECPS wrote:So by now you all may know; what kind of mode is in this game? Like storymode or dragonuniverse or something.. there will be flight over?
As already mentioned, there's "Dragon History" which is the main story mode. There's no map or flying around this time, but the results of matches change the storyline. Besides that, there are cutscenes and story quotes which are shown during the battle.
The example from some old scans: If the player is getting beaten by Nappa with Tenshinhan, Chaozu will appear during the battle and grab Nappa, trying to self destruct, like in the anime. After the sequence, the battle continues.
If Tenshinhan dies, the story continues like in the series, as Piccolo and Gohan tried to survive until Goku's arrival. However, if Tenshinhan defeats Nappa, the battle ends right there, even before Goku's arrival.

Besides that one, there's the SimDragon, which is the Ultimate Battle mode of this game, but it seems fairly interesting this time. You choose a character and then control his training during 10 days (that control seems to be mostly through menu screens, choosing different places and talking to the people there- ex: Talking to Chichi, she makes food which let's the character recover stamina for more training), after the training, there's a battle against a (random?) opponent. It levels up the character and there are also items to be received.

There was a scan showing that Gohan's first matches in SimDragon were against Turles and 1st form Cell. The choices seem a bit senseless, when placed next to each other, so the opponents are probably random.

It's sounding pretty damn good.
I didn't really care for the overworld flying in BT2, since it was so very limited, B3 had some pretty neatly hidden things though to change the story.

I'm not sure if this mentioned or if I missed something but ... Is there any word on if characters have more than two Blast 2s?

I really doubt it, yeah they are putting a lot more effort in now, but I don't think they'd go far as to add another Blast 2 that's unique to every character (Because god knows I don't want every single character to have Super explosive wave or the Ki barrage)

Well, from the demo at Comic-Con, there were still only 2 blast 2s for every character.

Well, in all fairness, every character can do a ki barrage or full power beam. I think a blast 3 would be awesome. Name a character, and we could easily fill in a technique for him/her. At least most. I think only some should have a blast 3, it would add more power depth as well. Like, most Dragon Ball characters won't have a blast 3.

Every Blast attack in the game, according to the last videos, can be charged (during the pre-attack clip which focus on the character). A few attacks seem to receive new animations when they're charged.
The only one known so far is LSSJ Brolly's Ulimate:

-Without charging, it's just a blast like in Tenkaichi 2.
-Charging it, if the blast hits the opponent, it triggers a cutscene showing Brolly detonating the blast while the opponent tries to hold it.

EDIT:
Well, I haven't played the game, so I can't say that for sure, but I've seen a video which shows the BT2 attack, and a newer one which shows Brolly charging before firing and the new animation. So, it seems likely to me.

However, maybe they only finished the animation of Brolly's ultimate in the last demo, and the previous animation was just a placeholder.

Haha, a guy on the Atari forums had a great idea!

"I think Wii users should be able to do the fusion dance with the Wii mote and Nunchuck. You have to stand up and mimic the Fusion Dance like in the show. You will see the person you are going to fuse with on the screen and you have to mimic what he is doing. If you did everything correctly, you will fuse normally, and if you did something wrong, the fusion fails."

That'd be hilarious. Although I don't think the wii is that good at detecting motion.

No, the Wii isn't exact enough to detect such crazy motions not even pointing at the screen. But it WOULD be very easy to make SOME sort of motion-based little game for the Fusion dance.

I think I'm gonna pass out!
Did they really remove the dust clouds that are made when the blast2 blast hit the ground or is it still a work in process?
I mean the the dust clouds that are made when a character hits the ground are still in of course but removing the ones for the blast just seems idiotic.
It added strategy when thick dust clouds were made obscuring vision not knowing what was really coming next (jus' like in the show!)
Cause from what we've seen so far are puny firey excess from the blast after it's died and hit the ground  but I absolutly love that they brought back the light flash after certain powerful blast make contact (but this time with the ground also 8) but the dust cloud thing is making me cry

I've always wanted more than just a dusty floor when a massive energy attack hits, where are my explosions that make craters and junk? :(

Dragon History sounds amazing. I can't wait to see all the various branches.

Next generation is'nt even needed to achive that it could be done very well on the current.

How do you even know it could be so easily done? I'm sure if that could do it, they would, but because of either time or budgetary or technical constraints, they can't.

Yeah, same. I wonder if it'd be possible to beat Raditz without Goku dying? Or if it'll be like Legend of the Super Saiya-jin for the SNES and let you survive the battle against the Saiya-jins with everyone but Piccolo? It'd be awesome to have Yamcha, Tien, and Chaotzu along to help on Namek. Haha. Chaotzu, Yamcha, Krillin, Tien, and Gohan Vs. Guldo. Frog boy wouldn't stand a chance.

They've got some really good chances with places to split the story-line into what-if paths. Hopefully they take advantage of them and all of the splits aren't just little things that don't matter in the end. Like, make it possible to kill Freeza with Vegeta or Piccolo, before Goku even fully recovers! Or for Piccolo to kill Imperfect Cell, or Vegeta to kill Semi-Perfect Cell, and so on. And they had better make it possible to kill Super Buu with 'Ultimate' Gohan!

<Xyex> Good point.

I'm not quite sure how much of a crater you want, but I had played Hulk: Ultimate Destruction on PS2 several weeks ago, and they have crater-like damage and cracks generating all over the place.

Even on PS1, Vigilante 8 had a weapon that could make craters in the ground. And unlike Hulk, these were actually sunken-in craters that you could go downwards into; Hulk's were just a visual thing.

I'm sure that even those may not be the best examples. There may be some games I haven't played that do something more than Hulk and Vigilante 8.

Heh I sold Hulk the other day, and now I want it back!
I think due to time limits, they'd be hard pressed to put permanent craters in, I know, it's a video game, but these are characters who can blow up cities with a mere ki blast, and it just looks unimpressive when Broly fires his ultimate and it misses and just fades away.

Even a distant explosion with wind and dust flying toward you would be good, and the screen shaking a bit.

About the storylines branching, I just hope that they've really put a lot of work in to it, I mean, killing Vegeta on Earth with say, Piccolo or Gohan, will it mean Vegeta is absent forever?

I doubt they'd go that far and in depth for every single little storyline change possibility. :(
