A WTF Toonami moment

Post by Sun_Wukong » Sun Aug 26, 2007 5:08 pm

So last night at 10:30 Toonami aired 152/137 (cell's second transformation) out of the blue. Did anyone find this really weird?

I didn't know Toonami started airing DBZ again or moved it or whatever it was. But I do know that if they continue it, I'll be watching.

I think they had it at 7pm or some odd time I could never catch it beforehand.

I prefer 10:30. Then at least I can catch it some of the time.
On hiatus.

They probably aired it then so they could show the new Mega Man for 2 hours at 7.

I also thought that was what happened. But I did check my digital TV guide and it's scheduled there again for 10:30 and something called “Props Special” is on from 7:00 - 8:30. I have my DVR programed to record all Dragonball program no matter what time or channel it's shown, it's set to the highest priority.

Did anyone catch the Mega program? Was it any good? I tried to record it but they changed the title of the program and my DVR didn't record it.

I was also surprised to see DBZ on Toonami at such a late time last night. I wasn't even at my House when I saw it, I was at my Cousin's house watching it on their Computer that has a hook-up for Live TV. I had no clue that they were even going to show DBZ, because I checked earlier to see if DBZ was even going to be on, and I didn't see it on the listing. I wonder if this'll continue, or if they'll keep it on the usual 7:30 spot?
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

How exactly is showing the show that built their network, shitting on it exactly? O.o

I'm not a fan of the dub, but the dub of the show IS the show that built their network, as you put it, not the far superior Japanese original show.

I thought DBZ always came on late... I also have my DVR set to record anytime it's on. I thought 10:30 was it's usual time. I should check that.

By the way, laserkid, I like your avatar.

They don't really show DBZ as much as they used to. But then again, anime has taken a back seat on Cartoon Network in recent years.

Looks like they wanted a replacement for One Piece now that the 4Kids dub is completely finished airing. Guess this is just to build up until FUNi's dub kicks in.

The appearance of a certain orange ninja makes me question that, aside from CN screwing over Gundam and YYH which originally appeared like Funi was grooming to be DBZ's successor and looked like it would've been during the Dark tournament. It's more those new comedy cartoons that they promote like crazybut are dumb that get me.

If by "CN screwing over Gundam" you mean SEED, that probably has everything to do with the horrible ratings.
Hey, I entirely forgot I had an account here. AGAIN.

Yeah I meant SEED. Heck, when talking to Trevor Devall at con 2 weeks ago (Mu La Flaga) he was shocked that Seed Destiny didn't come on US TV.

I think the official call on the matter was that Toonami was tired of licensing Gundam series to try and recapture some of that Wing thunder and having it never pan out.

I think it was when they started airing the first Gundam series that ratings began dropping. Everyone loved Wing and G Gundam back then.

Not originally. If I remember right back in the early 2000's(man that makes me feel old) it aired at 5pm on weekdays.

You're right; it did. In fact, I think that was the first timeslot it had on the Toonami block.

It never moved around too much after that, either, but it didn't particularly matter since anywhere it moved it was always a huge ratings hit anyway.
