From what I saw in Hong Kong, bootlegs won't be going anytime soon. Pretty big business and, as somebody pointed out, used in organised crime. Interesting scene really when your caught up in a raid as I was. When the police are gone, the shutters come back up again and bootlegging goes on :P . As long as the more up-to-speed fanbase is avoiding the bootlegs, then thats just as good.

 Seems overpriced when compared to the mainstream marketer/dubber's price for DVDs and Boxsets. Good example of this would be finding "Dragonboxes" in store stalls in Mexico or Chinatown.
 Funky looking art is always a tip-off that something isn't right. Lack of a company logo is even driving the point further. A logo that is a fansub organization is a downright and blatent STATEMENT of it's illigitimacy.
 A shoddly made website with poor English (or Spanish, German, French etc) is a good indicator when found with the above ones. HTML errors, unlicensed media or stolen media is another clue.
 Free downloading of episodes for free is a VERY strong indication that the site for the company is not legit. No company would give away it's product for FREE unless they were immensely stupid.
I think that is a lot of the signs and it's very obvious that people can on some level tell if somthing is a bootleg. It would be nice if the fans could curtail the problem this way.
I wanna see these mexican dragonboxes.

Ask, and ye shall receive. I found this in Chinatown but this is the standard DBox bootleg.

Meh, I think this is a pretty pointless thread, sorry to be so down but most people know when they are buying a bootleg and buy them regardless because of the cheapness. Sure some people do sometimes get fooled into buying it, but most of the time when it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Everybody knows that they are there, all your doing is promoting it even if you don't mean too.

Toei does not need more money. If they wanted or needed any more money, they'd make the Dragonboxes easier to get.

I think releasing all the Dragon Box contents, save a few extras, on individual, non-limited edition discs seems pretty easy.

I too was ripped off by Bootleggers... I was much younger, and not very well informed. I thought I was getting "Quality" and "New" DVD's. What I got was burned DVD's with crappy inkjet stickers on them in some slim cases with crappy printed covers! I think we should have a "How to Avoid Bootleggers" sticky added. I think that the more fans we inform the more people we will save from spending any money on a shoddy product.

Yeah... lets fight back.
