Musing on Android 16

Post by Thanos6 » Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:57 pm

I've been giving this some thought, and I think it's possible he came back to life. Not definite, maybe not even probable, but possible.

This is just going by the manga, so I'm not going to waste anyone's time with the whole "#19 in Hell" thing.

We know that Android 8 came back after Buu blew up the Earth, and we're never really told what he is. Daizenshu #4 lists him as "Biomechanical" along with 17 and 18, but we dunno if he too is a modified human, or maybe like his inspiration he really is corpses sewn together.

That same Daizenshu lists 16 in the same section with 19 and 20, which is confusing to say the least, seeing as how 19 is also purely mechanical whereas 20 has a completely human brain and could no doubt come back. So that leaves it up in the air.

But my main reason for thinking this is just based upon the tone of the series. Arale is purely mechanical too, and I don't think Toriyama would have liked to kill Arale permanently when Buu blew up the Earth. She's too cute.

So please, think of Arale. ;)

Thoughts? Holes in the theory?

Hmmm, difficult to say. The keyword is that they were brought back to 'life'. The question is: did #16 truly live? And did 17, 18 and the various other androids?

I for one believe that #16 was in fact 'alive', so then he should have come back. Perhaps he's just sitting in the woods like #17 contently watching all the pretty little birds :P

well, in the manga 17 and 18 were cyborgs, normal humans with cibernetic parts, hence, 18 not aging, but being able to have children. Gero was just a brain. If someone wanted to revive him, I suppose the Dragon would have had to recreate a new human body for him (like Kami rebuilt Chaozu's body and restored Ten's arm).

I guess 8 could have been similar to Frankenstein, but he was also from a more cartoonier dragonball era so logic wouldn't apply to him. 16 was just a robot, so he stayed... um... deactivated...

Logic definitely does NOT apply to Arale. I mean the girl just touched the ground and made the planet split in half in an episode. For all we know, she could have soccerkicked Kid Buu into the sun and think it was a game.

Good theory. I'm sure Bulma could've easily re-built #16, if she wanted to, from when she helped repair him for the Cell games, so it's probably possible.

Didn't 16's processor even pop out of his head after Cell stomped on it? They could have done something with that, even if it was just putting it in a new body or computer or something.
Hey, I entirely forgot I had an account here. AGAIN.
