What are your expectations for Piccolo in the tournament?

So like most people know it feels like Piccolo is really under the radar this tournament. He hasn't done much of anything so far and there's nothing pointing toward him doing much in the near future either. I mean I know eventually Piccolo will get *some* kind of spotlight or major fight, but it really feels like he has no hype going for him. It's easy to tell the writers are saving Gohan, Freeza and 17 especially for some big fights later on...but Piccolo just seems to be treated no differently than Tenshinhan or Roshi.

Is anyone getting deeply concerned that "my boy Piccolo" won't do well? After his embarrassing dropping out to Frost in the U6 tournament, I would hope he'd get a major moment of glory here.

As you said, Piccolo will be treated as Roshi and Tenshinhan, since the majin buu arc, he is a nobody. Just another one to fill space. I don't believe that he will have any major fight, he is too weak, maybe he will beat the purple bunny from U11.
That's my bet.

Piccolo will have a rematch with frost, and I think it's going to be a fight where Piccolo pulls out all his tricks..

But for the most part he's going to be following Gohan around.

He'll shout encouraging words at Gohan and treat Gohan using common sense like the thoughts of a genius? At this point, Piccolo's only role has been to tell the audience about Gohan

He seems to be clearly going to be used as a way to further boost Gohan tbh. Never had much faith in Piccolo amounting to much in this tournament as he hasn't been a major player in ages. I can see him taking out a few people, but I don't see him getting a major fight within this saga the way I do for Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Freeza, and possibly 17. Even then, I'm still iffy on 17 being in a major fight this saga. Kuririn got a decent showing before being eliminated but he was taken out first despite his hype and build up. With that said, Piccolo and to a far greater extent, Tenshinhan just feel like extras at the moment. Piccolo at least has the fact he's tied with Gohan, but Ten doesn't seem like he has anything going for him.

I see Piccolo getting a few small good moments, but ultimately I wouldn't be surprised if fans ended up angered or disappointed by how he will be handled this saga. I think if anything, having him defeat Frost in a rematch would be a great win for him.

I never expected much from Piccolo this tourny, However with the bar as low as it is in this thread. I hope he surprises us with something. I'm still of the mind that everyone will get something before they go. Gohan and Piccolo fighting as a team is something I expect to happen, so that's probably at least an assist knock out on somebody. I fully expect Tenshinhan to take out both the U4 invisible fighters as well. Idk what Roshi will do, but it'll be outrageous.

As sad as it is to say this, Piccolo will only serve to bolster my boy Gohan. I expect Piccolo to lose in a beatdown fashion to awaken Gohan's fighting spirit in the tournament.

That stare down between Android 17 and Piccolo when all the U7 fighters were gathering was pretty awesome. And of course all the Gohan recruitment episodes were good for Piccolo too

He'll take out a few mid-tier guys and then get taken out pretty unceremoniously. What I'd actually like to see is for Piccolo to dodge out of the way of an attack and let Gohan eat the full brunt of it for once. I know he probably never will, but still.

Not excited for him. He hasn't impressed me in Super (and in the Buu saga) thus far, and I can see him getting his limbs ripped off the same way TFS Nail had his. He could take on some random fighters and defeat them using strategy, then he glances at one of the top guys and gets kicked out.

You guys are forgetting how good Piccolo is, he didn't have anything go his way yet sadly but this tounament will show his true powers. I believe Piccolo has another power up due, he has gotten as powerful as ssj2 Gohan atleast, and has the potential to aquire god powers.

I don't think it's that people are forgetting, people are just recognizing the way he's been treated for a long ass time. You said he'll show his true powers in the tournament. Seeing is believing. I want to see something good from him, but nothing has led me to believe that'll be the case, especially when he just comes off as a just Gohan's satellite character.

I think Piccolo is going to have his own thing too. Yes, Gohan will be involved, but that's not bad. The U6 guys have to be namekians, I think they have pointy ears and why would they hide them if not.

My expectations about him are really low. He would do some combo moves with Gohan and probably motivate his pupil by jobbing. Anything else would be a nice extra, but I'm not raising my hopes.

Some implications have #18 performing admirably against Frost. If that's true then Piccolo should be much stronger by comparison. So I think it would be reasonable to assume Piccolo would be strong enough to handle himself against any competitor who isn't part of the topmost tier of the tournament. Moreover, Gohan's previous request for developing combination strategies and manouvres suggests they'll be collaborating to overwhelm an opponent or two.

My expectations for him are going to remain leveled, but I hope for him to at least perform as equally well as Krillin did, if not better.
