Should Goku get a new form?
We've gotten a couple of hints of him possibly obtaining a new transformation later in the current arc. While nothing has really been confirmed so far, the whole "something terrible will happen" poster from a couple of weeks ago does seem to imply that Goku will be receiving some kind of power-up. This makes me wonder; what would people's opinions be on Goku getting another transformation? Would it be a cool way of keeping the show fresh, or would it be too predictable and excessive?

It's the only reason I continue watching this arc.

I never liked ssjblue. It's a boring recolor of ssj1 that replaced ssjg and I really like ssjg Gokû. I have no love lost with blue being replaced. In fact I'm excited for Gokû's new form. That teaser poster makes it look like there's at least some effort put into making this form not another recolor of a previous form.
Re: Should Goku get a new form?
It would be predictable and it would be awesome.
Re: Should Goku get a new form?
I wanna say no coz weve just gone crazy with forms now but no doubt he will and ill be sqeualing when he does. The opening hints it too much
Re: Should Goku get a new form?
No. Enough with Saiyans/Goku transformations. There's no need and reason for more forms other than pure marketing and merchandising at this point.
While Saiyans/Goku continue to unceasingly getting more and more forms, other characters like Piccolo who really need a power-up/transformation don't get it. It's ridiculous and kind of annoying.

Transformations have long since become a hackneyed gimmick of Dragon Ball. I have no interest in them nor would I want any more if I could help it. Kaioken is the most interesting amplificative mechanism right now, in my opinion. Instead of aiming to horde in on another Saiyan form, why not have Goku build upon what he knows in the Kaioken -- maybe acclimate to the effects and raise the multiplier? We know he could go up to x20 and some non-canon movies have already teased us with the concept of the technique being raised to further levels than that.

Re: Should Goku get a new form?
I'm tired of Kaio-Ken and would like to see something new, when I heard the spoilers of Goku's all new techniques he was going use against Hit in episode 39, I was psyched. But when I actually saw that the new technique was nothing more than SSB with Kaio-Ken added on top, I was underwhelmed and disappointed. Kaio-Ken was fazed out because it became obsolete and too risky and so seeing it brought back at the time not only with the same risk, but greater than before seems redundant. Not to mention, it's just boring like c'mon I would like to seem some tactical technique or something not just some power boost.Lionel wrote:Transformations have long since become a hackneyed gimmick of Dragon Ball. Preaching to the choir. However, I think it's far more likely with this studio to increase the multiplier of Kaioken than have them animate with a mentality of brains overcoming brawn. Personally, I think pushing the Kaioken to new heights is still more original than yet another unseen transformation being offered to a species who already has more forms than Freeza and Zarbon combined.

Re: Should Goku get a new form?
Honestly I think they've already overdone it with new forms. If we have to have one I want it to be something like a fully mastered SSJG/Blue.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147
Re: Should Goku get a new form?
I think yes, but this time I hope it will be the last form and I want them to make it very difficult to control so that Goku has to master it to get stronger. I also hope from then on that Toriyama will make up some new way to make Goku stronger aside of new forms.

Re: Should Goku get a new form?
I'm not a fan of the escalating forms, and haven't been since I found out they started numbering them. (And yet SSJ 3 is my favorite) So I hope the God forms don't get the same treatment.
If Goku is getting a new form I want it to be different from the others. Also not something he can just pop in and out of like he does with everything else. a little vague but I don't even know what I want for sure. So I'll just wait and see what I get.

Re: Should Goku get a new form?
Personally I no longer get excited when Goku (and Vegeta) get new transformations. That route has been done so many times already that it's honestly boring imo.We all know he's getting some kind of power up/form in this arc however.
Re: Should Goku get a new form?
I also feel like you. I would like the new form to be a permanent power-up that cancels every other form (bar base unless it doesn't bring any physical change).Boo Machine wrote:I'm not a fan of the escalating forms, and haven't been since I found out they started numbering them. I'm tired of seeing Goku always holding back by changing between his forms, so I'd like to see things go back to how they used to be in OG Dragon Ball. That's also how every character except for the Saiyans works.
RoF tried to simplify it with Goku and Vegeta, but for some reason Toriyama went back to the old forms.

Re: Should Goku get a new form?
What's the point of bringing a team along when Goku's just going to get a new form when his back's against the ropes? I'd much rather see the protagonist solve the problem with the established tools instead of asspulling transformations so much.
Re: Should Goku get a new form?
I'm a bit tired of new SSJ forms. Specially since only the manga bothered to do something with SSJB.
Transformations are potentially nice if you work them, give them meaning and combine them for character/plot progression. Super Saiyan God had a beautiful design, served the purpose of being a bridge to the new challenges introduced, it even gave Goku some reflection. I only dislike the lore and how the form was obtained, otherwise it would have been perfect.
SSJG should be the minimum standard for any new transformations. Maybe they surprise us and it has nothing to do with Super Saiyan, being something completely new.

Re: Should Goku get a new form?
SSJ 2 and 3 is bad enough, I didn't care the the "grades", it was the weaker writing in the Cell arc. It makes SSJ2 more of an ass pull, though not as much as SSJ3. I think Toriyama should of started the idea of training power in the base form then powering up to SSJ for even more strength. Gohan could of not even achieved SSJ 1 and fought Cell in his base at first. Then when Android 16 dies Gohan unlocks a SSJ special to him, which looks like his SSJ2. Maybe then it would look like a little less of a plot device to beat Cell with.
Re: Should Goku get a new form?
Should he get new forms? Probably not, since they barely change in overall design these days. Is he going to anyway and keep getting new ones until the end of time? Yep.
Feels over Reals.
Re: Should Goku get a new form?
Toriyama wouldn't have been able to justify base Gohan being above SSJ Goku, and it was already established that the future Gohan was a SSJ. There was also all that talk about surpassing Super Saiyan.MR.Mark wrote:SSJ 2 and 3 is bad enough, I didn't care the the "grades", it was the weaker writing in the Cell arc. SSJ2 made sense. SSJ3 didn't.

Nope. Get rid of forms altogether. Have Whis or one of the gods wave their hand and say "Boom, you're at full strength now. You don't need to turn SSJ 1, 2 ,3 God or Blue or Pink or Purple or whatever anymore."
