I think it's fine to not like a character, but some users spend way too much time posting about how much they hate that character at every opportunity whilst talking about how wonderful their character of choice is like it's some sort of political party or sports club.

I imagine for a Goku fan, this "Goku is awful" at every turn must be getting a little tedious by now.

It gets border line creepy when I see people write about these violent kill fantasies they have for certain characters. "I want so and so to have their skull crushed and their brains scooped up with a spoon and then eaten. Then have their heart ripped out and be worn as a hat because that's what they deserve."

I don't mind the dislike of a character, but I'd find it a lot easier of people could learn to relax a little bit. We're all fans of the same franchise. It doesn't have to be an "Us vs them" situation all the time.

Wait, really? I thought Toriyama provided a lot fo the designs for GT, that being his limited involvement with it.

He did some of the character designs and he has drawn Super Saiyan 4 before, but the form was designed by Nakatsuru.

I think people should stop identifying as a single character's fan. Goku is my favorite character, but that doesn't mean I throw a fit every time he acts stupid or gets shafted the same way "Gohan fans" or "Vegeta fans" or "Piccolo fans" or even "Goku fans" do. Being extremely attached to one character isn't healthy, people, it's okay to like multiple characters.

What not really he's not even my favorite character and so I can't watch dragon ball because I don't like goku that logic tho,it's funny because goku is literally the most overrated and hated anime character but I'm pretty sure db fans didn't know that

How can something be "literally" Overrated and most hated? I feel like those two don't go together. It's like being the most hated liked person.

I don't understand how someone could actually hate Piccolo. He never really makes a huge mistake that endangers the people around him the same way other characters do and he's not an asshole. Seems pretty strange.

I'd say piccolo is like a calmer Vegeta. He's got the whole badass thing going on, can be stern, but he's less hot headed and doesn't feel the need to assert dominance . He kind of goes with the flow. I've grown a liking to piccolo after episode 88.

He did. Het let Imperfect Cell escaped because he got careless when he could have ended him in seconds. He also didn't tell anyone about the Hyperbolic Time Chamber despite having knowledge of it after merging with Kami. Serious, he could have the humans and Saiyans trained while he hunted Cell days before Goku made the suggesting. I mean, even just a month, since he thought a year was impossible, would have made a different since kid Goku stood in there for a month.

Even if that were true, I don't see how that makes him the most hated Anime character. Goku is beloved everywhere else. Otherwise the dude wouldn't be front and center on damn near all of Dragonball merch. It would be really silly to advertise a character almost no one liked.

It still doesn't answer my question of how something could be both Overrated and most hated. To be overrated a lot of people would have to like it, wouldn't they?

He did the designs for kid Goku, Trunks, Pan, Vegeta wish his mustache, the space ship, and some concept art. He had nothing to do with Super Saiyan 4, although he did sketch it one time.

I don't know how to respond to this guy. The hate he has for certain characters is creepy. He can say whatever he wants about Piccolo, but I don't understand what he's trying to accomplish. Best to ignore him.

I remember back in the 90s Goku was usually one or two since Vegeta is almost equal to Goku in popularity in the US.

Overall, there is no evidence of Goku being 'hated'. Unless you compared him to Superman who has a very loud and vocal group of people who hates him, which makes people believe he's unpopular, when the opposite is true.

No he isn't, I browse a lot of forums and see none of that, plus you said yourself Goku's terribley written, so it's kinda hard to take whatever you say as credible. Although, I will agree he is terribly written in Super and I will say as of recently Goku has been getting some hate because of his portrayal recently in Super.
