Same here. I watched them with two different upscalers (a Reon HQV chip and a Faroudja DCDi chip), and both looked horrible. That's with both calibrated to reference and so on. I'm surprised that the DragonBoxes always look so washed out here though, they look amazingly vivid on my display.

I was looking at the SSJ Goku pics. judging from Goku's skin tone, the colors are extremely accurate, which means that I'll be able to change my TV Settings back to normal (although I'll lower the contrast slightly)! I must say, Funi did a really good job with these ones (less glitches, accurate colors, etc...)

And damn, ect really didn't feel like pulling those Dragon Box pics, apparently - That pic of Goku transforming was from a near-complately different frame than the Funi pic.

And you know what's even stranger? You almost see as much footage at the top as the Dragon Box. Evidence:

Those shots, in my opinion, look better than the DragonBox. Too sad the bottom had to be cropped, it would have made Goku's close up look so much more bad ass.

They probably figured it would look less stupid if Goku was missing some of his legs or feet than if he was missing the iconic Super Saiyajin hair.

I'm just saying - you can't see the background in the dragon box pic. It's a different frame.

Hey, they did a good job. Sure, it should go without widescreen, but Funi did a nice job with this.

So you don't lose much footage at the top...but that annoying P.Reuben guy on Amazon.com is gonna post pics and exaggerate the amount of footage lost.

The only elitist on this board, really, is ETC123. Corey comes off as one to the newbies, but he's not.

I still think it's selective cropping; see, Chris Sabat said his character was more important than Gohan so they made the whole series that way so he could see more Vegeta.

Or maybe I just really hate that guy.

I have the first two sets, and they looked OK. I didn't have any major complaints. But, from these pictures, this set looks great. Keep up the good work, FUNimation.

With these sets, the colors are accurate, they're just brighter. Here are my TV Settings for the first two sets (doesn't apply to all TV's, of course, if you want accurate colors)

Brightness: 100 (you lose color details such as shadowing for darker colors if it's lower)
Contrast: 50
Color: 50
Sharpness: 50
Tint: 30

For these sets, I'll bring the tint to around 40, and increase the color to 60 or 70. hell, I'll probably lower the brightness, too.

Nah, I didn't really think Corey was one. It's just that a lot of people come off as automatically throwing the DragonBox into the conversation for the sole purpose of making the boxset look bad.
