It's possible, but it would completely change who I thought he was. I assumed this was him;

This style was heavy in the two episodes he supervised and then disappeared when he did.

Those are just Ide corrections, I'm pretty sure.

I figured this was Onishi since his noses are very distinctive. Particularly so in #49 where he was super rough.

Maybe. Either way neither style matches the shot of Vegeta from the NEP. I really hope it's Kenji Kuroyanagi.

I think him being pulled on for #49 killed any potential interest he had working on Super in the future. Same thing happened to Yuki Hayashi and Ryo Onishi.

If Kenji was ever going to contribute to Super, it would probably only be on a new OP or ED.

As long as they were offered enough time they'd probably be willing to work on the show.

Well I mean yeah, duh. It's just a saying. How else would you draw something if not by hand?

Newer animes will mostly be digital, older animes will be hand-drawn. In my opinion the Buu saga looks a lot better "graphically" than Super does because I prefer hand drawings to digital.
Super and 90% of the industry still use "hand-drawn"... i mean they drawn on a paper, not tablet (in the majority of cases) anyway digital is drawn by hand too... the colored yes: is digital
The finished result is digital though.

It's from DBS school stuff that's being released in Italy.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I know I'm late, but I just have to say that this looks really bad, hopefully the animation is goid because I hate his art style.

So much reused animation. Helles was the worst offender. She did the same pose like 5 times. A very safe episode but nothing really bad stuck out and fights were okay.

NEP looks serviceable.

The only re-used animation that was understandable was the kamikaze fireballs transformations.

Reeeaaally liked the storyboard and the animation reuse was used as a joke so it worked fine. Probably the first tournament episode I enjoyed a fair amount.

Episode 102

Animation Supervisors
Koji Nashizawa
Yoichi Onishi

Key Animators
Koji Nashizawa
Yukihiro Kitano
Futoshi Higashide
Kenji Miuma
Tu Yong-ce

2nd Key Animators
Miyako Tsuji
Mua Tsukino
Shuntaro Mura
A-Line
TAP
Toei Phils.

---

I enjoyed that. There was a stack of sequences used over and over again, and they pretty much created a plot point for the sake of reusing lengthy BANK scenes twice. Smart, but a little distracting at times.

I enjoyed the action. It was good to see the OP sequence in full, with a little bit tacked on at the end. Obviously the highlight, but in terms of things created for the episode, I particularly enjoyed #17 sitting up. Really alive with a cool drawing at the end.

So this is the return of Yoichi Onishi! That puts a bit of a spanner in the works. I joked about it with ArchedThunder last week. Time to go back and reexamine everything!

Anyway, before talking about the NEP, I don't think I can wrap up my initial thoughts on this episode without mentioning that storyboard. So strong. So many awesome angles to make up for the limited animation. Would love me some more of that on the regular.

As for the NEP, I'd have liked to have seen a little more of Tate in action, but the few drawings (possibly corrections) that were from him looked very nice, so that's reassuring to see after that iffy preview image. Bring on next week!

Oh, I certainly think there was intentional inside humor with the reused animation. It was just so blatant. Ironically, it worked in favor of Super for the most part :P .

Nothing lately, sorry. I guess he's busy grinding away through this tournament.

On another note, seeing TAP and Toei Phils. credited separately lead to an embarrassingly realisation today. They aren't the same studio, at all. Animator's Corner had them under the same 'TAP' heading, so I always assumed they were the same -- until tonight, that is.

TAP are a Japanese studio that are essentially Toei's little money bank since they provide work for like half the industry's shows, whereas Toei Phils. are the Filipino branch that our guys like Eugene Ayson and the various Ano-nuevos are from.

So, uh yeah, replace TAP with Toei Phils. for the large majority, if not all, of the previously translated credits. Derp.

#103

The animation wasn't particularly stellar but it got by on very strong directing and storyboarding. To be honest, thats all I really want from an episode thats trying to be conservative by design and they did a good job at delivering at least that.

NEP: Tate's next week, judging by the NEP I'm thinking his probably only going to be handling one half of the episode, while someone else tackles the other. Hopefully his able to make my interest in this tournament peak a little. Also BUFF Tate Gohan is amazing.

How did they reuse Tate's BANK with the other 2 characters?

It looked like the same animation made for Branne's transformation used for the two other girls, with a recolor for their bodies and background.

This episode had a lot of re-used shots and animation, even for simple scenes when characters were talking like the Egyptian God lady or Beerus and co.
