I invite you to go back and watch dragon ball. Roshi made it clear that his time was up and that these new fighters were going to surpass him. And they did. There's no way Roshi would've stood a chance against Raditz. Let alone Nappa. Now hes supposedly going to put in work on some of the strongest fighters in the universe.

Tien has grown very strong since his dragon ball days. Enough to surpass the ginyu force. You remember how strong they were, right? Fast forward X amount of years to the present. Tien is constantly training. The only human to do so. And now Roshi is all of a sudden able to put Tien on the defensive when he couldn't even beat Nappa or the Ginyu Force?

Don't come at me like what I'm saying is illogical. I was hesitant to even respond to your post. Roshi DID peak. If you really didn't see that in Dragon Ball and Z, then I'm wasting my time even talking to you about it.

I watched OG DB and yes Roshi was and still is all about letting the newer generation take over.But you are pretending like there was some kind of barrier that prevented him from becoming stronger.When such thing never existed in and out of universe outside of Toriyama not wanting to use him at the time the manga was running from a specific point and onward.
In fact in the saiyan and cell saga,Roshi stated in numerous occasions that he wanted to be more of help but could not due to his current power.Him becoming stronger because he wants to help when he can and him letting the new generation take over do not contradict each other.
If you do not even understand that the reason Roshi was not used in dbz was because of the writer's intent at that period instead of a magical barrier you call peak then i don't think we have been watching the same show.The same thing goes for a lot of other characters that fell behind like 17,Freeza,Gohan and a lot of more.

I'm not pretending there was a barrier, there WAS a barrier. The first barrier was an unspoken barrier of how strong humans get compared to aliens/androids. It wasn't imaginary, it was literally how they did things. Don't know why, but that's what was established. The second is the barrier for Roshi in General. How do you not see that Roshi was retired? It took his entire life to get to that point of strength in Dragon Ball. Now he's making 10,000 times the amount of gains he ever did. Just from "training on the side". His pupils were growing at astonishing rates. By the end of dragon ball, all his students essentially surpassed him. Keep in mind Roshi was still active in Dragon Ball, so it's not like he was just a spectator throughout. He could NOT keep up with his students. His time was up.

So you're saying just because Roshi said that he wanted to help out on multiple occasions, that means he was capable of getting stronger..? You're reaching for straws if that's your defense. If there were any real gains he could've made, he would've done them. But he knew he was useless. They established that he was a side character and nothing he can contribute to the fights anymore. Now all of a sudden he's made gains that took the rest of all of Z fighters (who are In their prime) just to keep him irrelevant. I can't count how many times I've watched the entire series through. There are some things that you just know and certain things are established.

If I hadn't seen some of your previous posts, id think you were some unreseasonable fan who would defend Toei no matter what. But I've seen you post things that make more sense than a lot of the things I see on here. I just can't agree about Roshi.

Agreed. I'll add the out-of-universe rationale barely holds together as far as I'm concerned; there's also no legitimately valid plot device that made Roshi that strong (nor is Roshi unequivocally portrayed as incredibly strong, regardless). He trained on his own, got some gains that enabled him to beat up some third-rate Freeza soldiers, magic made him strong enough to thrash Tien, and the reason he was in the tourney is because of his wealth of techniques and battle smarts. One could very easily argue that they do not have any intention to portray Roshi as anything different than usual.

They probably should, but seeing as they kept this tidbit till now and still haven't explained the Yardratian, I think there might be more to it. Thanks to the last episode I was sure they will never explain this inconsistency, but I think I jumped the gun a bit, seeing this stuff gets teased still.

I have to say, the new form for Goku looks absolutely stunning. It's simple, yet extremely effective and stands out very well. Top marks to Toriyama/Toei/Toyotaro or whoever was in charge of deigning the new form for Goku. It's excellent and I can't wait to see it in action.

The reveal of the "hidden" Universe 4 fighters is a big disappoint, on the other hand.

Want to see it in action, but so far I kinda like it. I like how instead of just being base Goku, we have a new different take on that hair style. It's different. That's literally what I've wanted instead of just recolours. If you want to be inspired by a previous form, take a more interesting design spin with it. Could be the first form I like right off the bat.

Probably shouldn't take too much stock into this, and as much as I hate to say it, I don't see the U6 Namekians on here and all of the big guns from that universe are present; which leads me to believe they won't play a much of a role. We'll see.

Because mostly, power boost are completely plot dependent without any logic whatsoever..
