Indeed, I just took a look through the thread where the idea for filters was first presented (which was before my time). Your motives were not all professional ones, now, were they?

VegettoEX mentioned that Krillin was easier to say even for him. Plus its not a bad dub name like what Mr Satan has or a commonly used misspelling like what Goku and Freeza have.

I only have three problems with the name changes. Those being Turles being changed to 'Turles', Tien getting changed to 'Tien', and Pikkon getting changed to 'Pikkon'. I don't really see the point with 'Pikkon' at all. I've never understood the "you can't recognize the pun" with Turles (as I've always recognized it as lettuce) and it sounds better (to my ears at least) than 'Turles'. And 'Tien' bothers me largely for it being an even more pointless change than 'Pikkon'.

Though I have to admit the filters come in handy for posts like this where I only have to type one name to get two.

Paikuhan and Tenshinhan are the real names of these characters, why does it bother you ?

As for "Turles", or "Tullece" of whatever, if I'm not mistaken, his name is spelled "Ta-resu", so Tullece makes -a little- more sense, even if I don't understand why he has not been called "Tales" ; I think than the pronunciation is more important than the transcription of the pun.

I admit not seeing the problem with Pikkon. Aside from the spelling, it's pronounced almost the same way. It doesn't seem any worse that "Krillin".

From what I've heard in recent games and such, FUNi's "Turles" is pronounced pretty much the same as "Tullece." If they were distinctly pronouncing it "Turr-lays," then I might have some beef with it. But I've been hearing it pronounced more like "Tur-less," with the R barely audible. So that's fine with me.

Otherwise, "Krillin" and "Pikkon" are perfectly acceptable to me, but "Tien Shinhan" just seems like a weird and unnecessary thing.

Wait, what was this thread abou? Oh, "Most Wanted Characters." Uh... Ledgic and Rildo. But mostly Ledgic. That way we can have a nicely-put-together little GT chunk of the story. Screw the other dragons; Omega, Nova, and Eis are the only good ones anyhoo.

Turles doesn't sound like 'turdless' and 'Tales' is just horridly awuful and retarded.

But yeah, SSJ Kaboom pretty much covered what I was going to say. Pikkon and Pikkon are the same exact pronounciation so I don't see where the issue is at all. And yes, I know, Tien's the original name, but unlike a lot of people I don't go into screaming rage when a name is changed in a dub, it's a name, I get over it and move on. And Tien, to me, feels like a nickname in a way, so that I don't have to say (or write) Tien.

I guess what it comes down to is, unlike a large majority of 'fans' of the series, I don't have a knee jerk "ZOMG THAT SUCKS! EW!" reaction when a name is changed for whatever reason because there's no instances of a name being completely wiped out and made unrecognizable beyond Hercule becoming Hercule and that was only for the edited version anyway. Granted, it sticks around in the games but it's not like Hercule is the end of the world or anything.

Oh, right, forgot about those. So yeah, they join Hercule in the "Who was that originally?" catagorey. And into the "What the hell? Why'd they do that?" catagorey too. At least with Hercule they had a real reason to change it....

Well, no, Bra to Bulla fits with the Hercule to Hercule thing. But the others have no point.

Anyway, in an attempt to get this post back on to something resembling the original topic....

I've decided that I don't want any new characters in the next game. None. I just want them to put in a Create a Character mode. I'll make all the new characters myself.

Well, they can't very well say "Bra" on TV as a character's name, so using "Bulla," which is technically correct, just romanized differently, works too.

I personally hate writing down the word 'Tien' in any forum. I always use 'Tenshinhan', and I usually use 'Kuririn'.

Anyhow, my 5 personal choices for being additions in this game, or the next are...

1. Koga (Gokua)
2. Android #15
3. Android #14
4. Kid Krillin
5. General Blue

Whiny parents will still throw a tantrum, though. Same with Mr. Satan --> Hercule. Doesn't make it a good name, but at least there's a reason for the change...

You're American, you should know more than me about how cirtain parents over there get worked over the slightest thing a TV show does that illudes to sex or relegion.

In these peoples minds Bra = Breasts = Sex = "My child isn't watching this"
And likewise they think Satan = The Devil/A Relegion our family doesn't follow = "My child isn't watching this"

That's what I'm talking about Kunzait_83! We need henchmen. I made a pretty long list of characters I thought were good enough to add (minus movies #1 and #2 because I haven't seen them in a long time) and attacks they could use. Let's see if I can find it.
