So, is the red haired character behind Chocolate Goku another form beyond this? Perhaps a power-up? Or is it just SSG Vegeta?

It's just SsjB Goku blended in the background's red color.

I think we are finally going to break away from Super Saiyan.

This seems like Gohan's mystic form where it unlocks the user's full power but the problem is that Ssj forms bring in too much $$$ for everyone involved so I don't see them doing that or at least not for long.

That doesn't mean he didn't get this form. We're a long way from Super ending so chances are he'll get this and others down the line.

What provisions are there in place to keep Goku always one step ahead? An innovational streak when it comes to training? On two different occasions, yes. But what generally sets him apart from the others is having certain opportunities afforded to him before anyone else can partake in it themselves. It's been like this since the Red Ribbon Army arc when he first scaled Karin's Tower and was restlessly chasing after the water claimed to heighten his strength and then travel across the world building himself up. His fellow fighters weren't privy to this approach until three years later, at which point Goku had already taken the next evolutionary step by drinking the Choshinshui and raising his power to almost non-comparable levels. But what I find interesting in this arrangement is the considerable disparity in individual progress each character seems to make through these methods. When Goku trained with Karin, his power only escalated to a point where he could overcome Tao and defeat Baba's roster of fighters. The humans managed to use these same conditions to propel themselves upwards to levels arguably superior to Daimao (old and young depending on the person), albeit they were in a far stronger position when they underwent the training.

Vegeta is the same way. If he decided to take some initiative rather than complacently sit shoulder to shoulder with Goku, he might start to get ahead. What he should be doing is learning new techniques that can compensate for the advantages Goku has. Go out and pursue higher orders of mentors on your own. Take what you have and try to remake it into something that can be useful in your hike up the power ladder.

I'm surprised Gohans battle smarts are even being questioned at this point. He very clearly has used strategy. The excuse about the Botamo strategy not being smart just because it wouldn't have worked if someone was equal in strength really isn't a good argument at all. Its still smart and takes advantage of the opponents weaknesses. Gohans been repeatedly shown to be a good fighter this entire arc. He's been outright respected by both Bergamo and the guy in 103. Saying Gohan wasn't an intelligent fighter never really made sense because he never got to show off his intelligence in Z. He was always either way stronger or weaker than the enemy. Supers been showing what he's really capable of.

The problem is that Gohan has to stand there and think with out doing anything else while with Goku and Piccolo it comes very naturally and Toei has not got to show us what they are thinking in their heads unlike Goku. If Toei are getting characters like that to say comments like that to the audience than obviously Gohan has no history of this sort of thing and are trying to force something on to the audience.

Correction, Vegeta and Piccolo both are retiring after this arc, they brought Gohan back to be the one rivaling Goku, he always has surpassed everyone whenever he had the chance, and he is back now.. There's so much they could've and still can do with him. Being Namakien, there's a lot of different things he can bring to the table, same thing with Buu. It would've been a smart move to start this franchise revival with him alongside Goku & Vegeta as the main 3.

What I'd like to see is more diverse characters introduced, once you've seen what one Saiyan or human can do you've pretty much seen it all. Having Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Buu, Hit & 2-3 other completely different characters would bring a lot to the plot and how things are delt with. One Piece and Naruto have been doing it for years and it works really well so there's no reason DB with its multiverse can't. Imagine how different things would've turned out if Buu with his healing and Hit with his timeskip would've been there fighting Zamasu and Black.

Your Vegetas,Piccolos and Gohans can be his cheerleaders and maybe just maybe they will matter enough in the future to be stepping stones for a friendship power up for him.

If he is lucky, Gohan let's him live by saving him from fodder toppo ( fodder to Gohan ) then once his 24 hours are up it's back to hell for him..
You might actually have a point there, Freeza could theoretically replace Vegeta's active role as a rival

It would be great if Vegeta got sidelined just for one arc, even two if it's needed. He's getting stale.
Have him explore himself, change his perspective and drives. Have Bulma and Trunks help him find some true motivations, and also let Vegeta show some passion in training and fighting. We've seen shades of the real Vegeta but whenever Goku is around he seems to change. It almost seems like he trains and fights only because Goku also does the same. He always gets mad whenever he realizes Goku is better. This mental barrier is holding him back. Even Whis pointed it out back in RoF.
Obviously they would have to show this development, and also show us some Vegeta training out of passion instead of rage or because of inferiority complexes.
Vegeta must get less tense, then they could have him come back when Goku and the others need him, so that everyone can comment how Vegeta looks different, and especially calmer. This way Vegeta can finally be the one to save the day. And stop seeing Goku as his enemy rival. He should see him as his brother which he likes competing with but in a friendly way.
Which also fits with how Vegeta is in EoZ, where he seems much more laid back, and almost looks happy when he sees Goku is still trying to improve himself by training with Uub.
Of course Vegeta smiles, thinking that he will beat Goku next time. I feel like current Vegeta would angrily leave the tournament arena to go and train his gravity room to not get surpassed by Goku. I want to see Vegeta smile when he sees Goku surpassing him. That would make his relationship with Goku healthier.
By the way I think Vegeta has shown his Buu arc development in Super, but I still think they should do more with it. Vegeta's sole drive is still Goku. Have Freeza take on the role of Goku's enemy rival. Which is more fitting and I'd rather see Goku always being a step ahead of Freeza than of Vegeta.

Freeza actually managed to beat the stamina problems, he won't be burning through his time, it was pointed out as soon as he went gold after coming back..
