Tournament of Power Character doppelgangers
Is it just me or do the characters in the ToP look a lot like other established characters? http://i.imgur.com/8pMHgar.jpg

Re: Tournament of Power Character doppelgangers
Its their shtick that is what makes it stick out. Not exactly doppelgangers.
I really like Universe 3 because Paparoni gives off Dr. Tenma vibes and the robotic beings just remind me of robots of the 60s/70s

U9 don't look like sonic characters, bergamo is way too muscular when compared to the skinny character build in the sonic universe

Re: Tournament of Power Character doppelgangers
It's about time DB goes on attack through mockery, it outpowers every product of human imagination out there.
In the year 42 of our god calendar, Zarma acquired a special patent for his original design.

I really don't see the doppelganging, only thematic inspiration. And Team U11 is based on Tokusatsu, not american Superheroes.

A lot of people say that, but other than their stupid poses, I don't see any similarity to the power rangers. They each have unique abilities like super heroes. God damn Toppo keeps talking about Justice. And their names are similar, Justice League, Avengers, Pride Troopers. So here are some character parallels I see, I promise you there ARE more. It seems that Zen'oh was also a recycled design from the Jaco's manga, chapter 3 (at the bottom panel):

IN-UNIVERSE
It's a multiverse, so parallel worlds I guess.
OUT-UNIVERSE
DB has always been partly parodical and so based on other characters. Goku at this point is part Monkey King-Superman-werewolf.
That didn't use to be a problem though, but with with so many diverse heroes in Western comics/manga the similarities can be more obviously seen, and may be a little frustrating for some people.

also Toppo (since hes the leader) is Superman while Jiren (who isn't the leader but can still take down the leader and who is always serious) is batman. Vermoud is the Joker, Marcarita is Harley Quinna and Kai (due to his color scheme and height) is Robin. And Vuon uses a justice whip, like Wonder Woman's truth whip or somethingmalicecrossrevolver wrote:A lot of people say that, but other than their stupid poses, I don't see any similarity to the power rangers. I called it that Gogeta, Bardock, and something Broly related would be in the movie before it was even announced that it was a Broly movie.

You mean the Tektek? I always though Zenou looked like a Tektek, but that's not the first usage of the species; IIRC, they hail from Nekomajin or Tocchio, but their foremost member is Gine, Vegeta's sister-in-law, from the Return of Goku & Friends.MyNiggaGoku wrote:Dai-Saiyajin wrote:It seems that Zen'oh was also a recycled design from the Jaco's manga, chapter 3 (at the bottom panel)

Vegeta's sister-in-law, Tarble's wife, is called Gure, after grape.
Gine is Goku's mother, named after the spring onion (negi - which is a bit hilarious if you know about Negima).
