All your examples are the threat taking out the strongest person they can and in this arc it is Goku right now so fighting Goku first makes sense. Jiren fighting anyone else brings nothing to the story since he is not fighting the strongest he can.

In this arc, there are several people near and around Goku's level. Namely, 17, Gohan (going by the narrator), Hit, a now controlled Kale, and Freeze. You also have powerful secondary characters like Piccolo, Cali and the leader of the magical girls.

Also, unique to this tournament, if Jiren gets ganged up by several characters with powerful or even broken abilities and he wiped them without trying, that is also a great showcase of his strength.

Also, "all your examples are the threat taking out the strongest person they can". Not true in the Buu Saga since the strongest person for Fat Buu to worf was Goku and that didn't happened. The strongest person in the Saiyan Saga to worf was also Goku, yet he was purposely left out since he would have killed Nappa without any issue.

The audience needs it to be Goku or otherwise the audiencr will just say "what about Goku". The only thing that would work if the Jiren was ganged up but what characters would do that.

This just seems like this big fight is coming early and that would make complete sense in a battle royale. There is obviously going to a surprise here in this battle though.

Caulifla and Kale vs Brianne
Freeza vs Toppo
Piccolo and Gohan vs Namekians

Those are the only fights I could think that are special/PPV material.

Frieza, Vegeta etc haven't done anything yet or had a real fight so far. Many people want to see them fight. Toei can't be so stupid...

If that's what is intended by Toriyama then that's what will happen, toie can't do shit..

I doubt either are intending that. Starting with the special, we'll probably get multiple big fights happening in the same episodes. I think every episode will have a part of Goku fighting Jerin while they switch between other fights.

I don't think Jiren needs a moment for so many go Gang-Up on him to prove he is the Real Deal cause the build up for him already did that. Maybe I can see a few, but just a Handful at MOST Jiren eliminating, but really that is it. I think Jiren will in the end completely belong to Goku so fans that are worried the Hype of Goku vs. Jiren may not happen will most likely have little to worry about.

Also, by how Ribrianne had Fought 17 and I put her on the Tier of the 1st Levels as well, she has not yet had enough time to show all her true power yet, but so far she is done Impressively and Teased a High possible level. But in the end, it is up to Toei with what they want to do, we can only wait and interpret once it happens.

Jiren is being built up for Goku as the climax. For someone to build up to be such a threat to Goku, there needs to be more than, 'oh he beats up Goku' since the moment they start to fight, that is the climax.

Also, "big fight is coming early". People keep saying it's early despite this arc starting on 77 and we're nearly 30 episodes in and Goku won't fight Jiren until over 10 episodes past in the tournament. How long did you think they were going to hold the big match? This isn't Z or even Kai.

Not necessarily. The build up for the 21st tournament was almost as long as the actual tournament. The Champa Saga had six episodes of build up and the tournament was nine episodes. For this saga, we got those exhibit matches before the tournament which were five episodes and the recruitment episodes were 14 episodes.

Also, given Super's pacing, it was crazy to think that over 10 episodes into the tournament is 'too soon' for Goku and Jiren to start fighting, especially if their fight last two to four episodes before we even get to the fall off.

It was very confusing, they couldve have had Hit rescue Kale with tokitobashi(he was right there next to Caulifla).

They're handling Jiren poorly since the start, its why I think Jiren will kick some U6 and 7 butts out of the ring, the guy has zero ring outs, the so called big threat doesnt have anything going for him besides... crossing his arms and going "hmmmm"

The main goal is to stay ringed in not ring people out, it is not his fault people except Goku are too pussy to challenge him. Staying ringed in and not doing much for as long as possible is a pretty good strategy, one Gohan came up with until Kale ruined it.

Goku vs. Jiren is the start of the climax, not leading into it. Just as Goku vs. Hit was the climax of the Champa Saga or Merged Zamasu merging with the climax of the Future Trunks Saga. Battling towards the climax is short-term for the final. Using Future Trunks Saga again, the start of the climax was Merged Zamasu creation, the actual climax was Future Trunks destroying Merged Zamasu's body, the finale was Zen'o wasting him.

The Buu Arc had several climax (Vegetas Sacrifice, Gotenks and later Mystic Gohan vs Super Buu, Vegito vs Buuhan, Goku and Vegeta vs Kid Buu)

And yes Goku Fanboys usually get very defensive when someone criticise their hero.
