thats my problem with FUNimation casting they are just unwilling to cast the old voices like Kaiō or Fat Boo's Even if it is unbearable.
You mean recasting.
Lol yup that's what I meant.

Goten could and should matter more than the series allows him to do.
Or maybe the unpopular part isn't the logic, but that a good number of people don't care.
I really wish Super tries to focus more on the younger generation specially Goten and Trunks because they have been literally useless in the whole show. If they go for a comedic slice of life arcs involving these kids, I will be satisfied with Super because in my opinion slice of life is the only thing that Super did right.
I prefer Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, DB/Z/GT Movies, Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT in Japanese.
For DBZ Kai and two new Movies I like both Dub and Sub. I Prefer Shunsuke Kikuchi Soundtracks over All other Composers.

Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.

Totally agree. It's sad that both Bandai and Toei completely ignore Goten; he's like my favorite character now. I'm 100% with you on that.
And a slice of life with Goten, Trunks and Marron (maybe even a EOZ highschool spinoff??) would be great. I second the opinion that the comedy/slice of life is the best parts about DBS

In Z, the characters were so depended on Goku that they couldn't go an episode without mentioning him in some way even by hoping he will arrived, get better, training to get stronger, our last hope, being like him, ect. Goku was wanked to hell in Z, even when he wasn't in the room and everyone else was secondary to him. In fact, this was a major issue Goku had, which is why he didn't want to do anything in the Buu Saga.

Not like it already isn't with DBS lol.
Yeah, but High School AU is entire different league
That's why Fairy Tale did it...

I don't know if it's unpopular here but I did't mind the whole Goku being a kid thing in GT. I never watched OG DB before DBZ and GT when I was 11 and it just never bothered me.
After re-watching it, I don't mind Piccolo dying in Super during the RoF arc. ALTHOUGH PREFERABLE IF IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, it did remind me how much Piccolo cares for Gohan and it also reminded me how serious Goku can be when he heard the news and arrived on Earth yelling at Goten and Trunks to go to Dende.

What do you mean? I mean I get it, but why would someone who DID see OG like GT less, or more? What's the logic?

Well, someone who watched the OG Dragonall would be more likely to catch the obvious nostalgia grab, and might see turning Goku back into a kid as regressing his character.

Except that he wasn't literally turned back into his child self. He has a child's body, but he still has his adult mind. His character hasn't regressed.

I never said they would be right.

Why should he matter more than what he has gotten in the series? He doesn't have much of a personality, his design is nearly identical to Goku's when he was a child. Outside of creating Gotenks, one of the best gag characters in the series, Goten really has nothing going for him outside of being the second son of Goku.

He's shown flashes of personality in Super, wanting to avenge his father and turning down his own Saiyaman outfit and such. The building blocks to do something with him are clearly there, even if they are scant. I would think that being Goku's son should be fertile ground for some kind of worthwhile development.
Super, at least at the moment, seems to disagree. But I'll hold out hope until the last.

The NUMBER ONE Goten fan, and a fucking epic one at that.

I'd say he's shown flashes of personality as far as Z. With his anger at the death of his mother at the hands of Boo, and when Trunks cheated at the Tournament, but even then Dragon Ball on a whole has never really shown any interest in giving him a character, besides GT where he was apparently a guy who chased women. Even being Goku's son doesn't really mean he should become a main member of the cast, Raditz was Goku's brother and yet he had an incredibly minor role, Bardock was Goku's father and he was effortlessly vaporized, and only mentioned in passing during Dragon Ball.

I have to agree.
It doesn't capture Dragon Ball's charm at all. It started out good with the Goku meeting Bulma scene, but then went it's own route and rushed everything.
It doesn't help that the colors/designs were changed to be more dark and edgy. That's not how the original DB is supposed to look like.
