True, true, Roshi has a lot of Techniques too, I forget, but Tien also has his Dodon Ray, another beam attack from his third eye, and even Telepathy. I was really expecting Tien to have something new for us, especially something, anything utilizing his third eye, but he showed us, if anything, he's forgotten techniques rather than coming up with new ones. Tien seems to have gotten much weaker than he even used to be. Bummer.HeroR wrote:Ziegander wrote:MainJPW wrote:Roshi knows about the same techniques as Tien. And Ten can reflect major ki attacks back, he did this once, it's a quite useful thing to do.Ziegander wrote:

So does Roshi. He can also mind read, something we haven't seen from Tien.Ziegander wrote:

They did used Tien's eyes, namely his superior sight.

Which used his normal two eyes that everyone else has, but Tien's are better, I guess? That's not a trait I remember him even having. Superior normal eye-sight? I was expecting a special power involving his third eye, you know, the thing that makes Tien special, but the writers didn't even touch it.HeroR wrote:Ziegander wrote:They did used Tien's eyes, namely his superior sight.

Well, they used the clone technique effectively at least, it's something I didn't think it would ever be useful.

How long has it been since we've seen Ten use Mimicry? That would've come in handy.Basako wrote:And Ten can reflect major ki attacks back, he did this once, it's a quite useful thing to do.Ziegander wrote:

He's usually three of his eyes and the eyes from this clones to catch even a smaller trace of movement. It's a trick he used back at the 23rd World Martial Tournament against Goku.Ziegander wrote:

I think he used it against Yamcha's Kamehameha, or maybe Goku's, not sure. So that's the 22nd budokai, his first appearance and ever again.MainJPW wrote:How long has it been since we've seen Ten use Mimicry? It was against Jackie Chun; It would've been interesting to see that ability again after such a long absence.Basako wrote: I think he used it against Yamcha's Kamehameha, or maybe Goku's, not sure. So that's the 22nd budokai, his first appearance and ever again.
It might've been used after the 22nd though, always thought Chaouzu used Mimicry against Nappa after witnessing the Saibamen self-destruct. They studied under the same school so I don't see why not.
Re: What's up with Tenshinhan this arc?
I'm not sure if we are speaking about the same thing now, but whatever. What I feel is that Ten had more potential for this arc, both tournament and his horrible recruitment chapters.MainJPW wrote: It was against Jackie Chun; It would've been interesting to see that ability again after such a long absence.

And what's up with his arms always behind now? I don't recall him with that pose even once in Z.

Re: What's up with Tenshinhan this arc?
Well that was... kind of underwhelming to be honest.
I was hoping for more from Tien. What he did was fine I guess, and the pose shot of all his clones was nice, but for a guy with so many more techniques to offer they really underutilized him. The line about "DON'T WORRY GOKU AND VEGETA WILL TAKE CARE OF THE ENEMY" was probably the most embarrassing thing they could have gotten him to say. At least he chased down the sniper and cornered him solo.
Krillin honestly was more impressive even if he went out quicker, and I'm not even saying that due to personal bias, I'm just surprised Tien only got to contribute to two eliminations in the end.

True, as far as Impressive showings go, it's Roshi>Kuririn>Tien. I do agree though that they definitely underutilized Tien. I'm sure most of us expected him to come into some serious play later on by taking out the hidden fighters of U4. It would of been perfect for him to use his feats for that purpose and score him some great KO's. It's really a pity that didn't happen. Although, he went out with at least an elimination on his own. If he didn't, that would of just been real bs lol.

Re: What's up with Tenshinhan this arc?
About that line, the truth is the one taking care of the enemy was him. I think the writer made Tenshinhan too modest, I mean, he could have said "Don't worry I'll take care of the enemy". The blob had no technique by himself, the source was the sniper. Anyhow, it's a bit unfair Vegeta got two today and Tenshinhan only one, but that's how it is.Akyon wrote:Well that was... kind of underwhelming to be honest.

Krilin was directly involved in three and Ten in two, not that big difference. On the other hand, Roshi got five, three of them completely alone and still on stage.

Re: What's up with Tenshinhan this arc?
Goku and Vegeta were unable to beat Purn.
With Hermila defeat, Tenshinhan know than Purn lost all his strengh.
He contribute to the defeat of Purn.
Seems no one see it but Purn immediatly lost after Hermila cause he was a problem ONLY by the help of his U4 friend....
Literally, beat Hermila is like defeat the 2 fighters....
Hermila attacks seems as dangerous as Makankosappo.
Purn is unable to fight without the SNIPER.
So it's 1 win (Roshi assist), 1 win alone and 1 assist.
If Tenshinhan doesn't contribute of Purn elimination, we need to take assist of Krilin and Roshi.
Hermila is a very powerful guy able to defeat Gohan or Piccolo with ease.
Tenshinhan use his body to win and to protect the 2 Z fighters exhausted....

Re: What's up with Tenshinhan this arc?
I mean you could also argue Purn lost was because Dr. Rota took Vegeta's ki blast and acted as a cushion between the Galick Gun and Purn's ki absorbing body, else Purn would have just fired it back at them again. Maybe we should give the assist to Dr. Rota whilst we're at it. As long as Purn has people firing blasts, he's got an endless supply. He just needs to dive into battle.ShinTenshin wrote:Goku and Vegeta were unable to beat Purn.

Re: What's up with Tenshinhan this arc?
I think it was a terrible performance by Tenshinhan since he didn't have a melee fight with Hermila while using his three eyes ability to see further and beat him in a real one to one fight, after all, Hermila wasn't very strong. Actually, the blob of shit could have had a better design since he had heat vision and face Tenshinhan as well, but, let's face it, Tenshinhan was treated like shit in super and i think we saw the last of him in the series.

Re: What's up with Tenshinhan this arc?
THIS IS HIS BIG MOMENT? COME ON!!
Re: What's up with Tenshinhan this arc?
Tenshinhan could have certainly been offered more than what he received this episode. When you compress everything he's done in this tournament you realise that he failed to deliver one punch or partake in any kind of hand-to-hand choreography. The contributions he made amounted to reusing the Kikoho several times, using the Multi-Form to stage a suicidal charge against Hermila, and then griplocking said U2 opponent to ensure a double elimination. It was unimaginative compared with Roshi's varied utilisation of classic abilities and his experience last episode; and the sad truth is that this may have been the last opportunity for Tenshinhan to shine before his character is discarded for at least the foreseeable future. When is he going to be afforded another chance to fight like in this tournament?
