Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
I think today's episode is a great example of how far Super's production has come and how it still has a ways to go before it's normal. This episode was clearly troubled behind the scenes, but just like with episode 90 they were able to turn out a pretty polished episode regardless, something that they weren't exactly capable of before this arc.
On the subject of Karasawa, thinking about it he might not be on the special and instead show up 8 or so weeks from now. Obviously he wasn't working on this episode the whole time since 94 and I doubt he was working on the special in that whole time as well, he most likley had prior arrangements to work on another project and had to finish up his work there between 94 and 106. I wouldn't be surprised if he finished his work on that other project 3 or 4 weeks ago and they threw him on this episode to help out. The special is described as the start of the climax of the tournament, and with the pacing this arc has had I'm willing to bet we're at least getting a climax that matches the length of BoG's, so 5 or more episodes. I would imagine they wouldn't want to blow their load on the start of the climax and would probably want the whole climax to be at least good looking, so it would make sense for Karasawa to show up after the special instead.
Basically I could see the next few episodes turn out something like this. Numbers in () are weeks since last supervised episode.
107- Kitano(11) and Ishikawa(9)
108- Yashima(9)
Special [109/110]- Yamamuro, Ono(10), Manabe(10), Nashizawa(9), Toei Phils.
111- Tate(9) + Onishi(10)
112- Wanpack (9)+ Namatame (10)
113- Itai (10) + Nii (9)
114- Karasawa (9) + Toei Phils and/or Shimanuki (9)
All this being said, I still don't think the arc is ending with the tournament, so this tournament climax wouldn't be the end of the arc if that's true.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
The art and effects animation was nice. Animation wasn't anything special.
The animation in the tournament hasn't been outstanding, but we have seen some nice cuts in between. At the least they have produced some decent animation in back to back episodes. In the FT arc we were even struggling to do that. But I hope we see even better stuff. We have only covered 1/3 rd of the tournament so far, so let's see how the tournament turns out as a whole.
As for the special, I am pretty sure Shida's work would be great. He confirmed quite some time ago that he was working on some DB stuff. Really interested to see who else turns up on the special.

I think this was pretty much every bit of unfiltered Karasawa.

[/spoiler]
There is so little, but it's all so good looking. I can't wait for his next episode, hopefully he gets to really show his stuff.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
Either the previews are created way too early, or everyone is working like mad very fast.
The episode was completely saved by Tsuji.
The bad art vanished and even if it wasn't anything special, I can safely say that it wasn't bad or weird.
Art continues to look ok with little to no bad shots and the animation even if limited, is presentable.
The tournament has so many episodes and even if we occasionally see some bank, the animation in general is new and good. I feel that in the end of the tournament, someone will make a "Super cut" of the tournament and cut like 40% of this.
The idea of providing action animation every week on a tight schedule, must be one of the worse in this production. I don't know who said "owww we struggle with animation? So let's provide a lot weekly" and still has a job.
Unfortunately, this tournament arc still lacks the impact or the emotional investment from the characters that we expected. The recruitment arc felt more meaningful.
If the highlight is "Goku vs Jiren and then the tournament is over", it would be a huge waste of time. I expect a more dynamic plot to kick in once Goku beats Jiren and Vegeta is out.
Maybe when everyone is super weak, Freeza and Frost will try to kick everyone out and declare themselves the only winners?
I sure how that all this battles are nothing more than build-up for a bigger and larger plot/arc.
We still have 1 episode and then the special. I sure hope that they can at least deliver something beyond good. If both episodes are like the usual ones and in the middle we have Shida's cut, then the whole hype would be a waste (Not that I have high expectations)

Karasawa's shading is the best thing that has happened to this show. So good!
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
The special is really a special, like a OVA or something like that? Or are just 2 Super episodes released the same day? Because if it's the second they aren't losing anything, the episode that won't air because of OP special will be aired next week with the episode of that week too.

It's basically a double episode of the Tournament Of Power where we will see Goku's new form.Alee9977 wrote:The special is really a special, like a OVA or something like that? -Episode 106-
Considering how some people were criticizing this episode before even watching it, because of some less good shots in the NEP that for some time now end up getting corrected in the episode, it's amusing how consistently good this turned out. More "episodes 5" like this please.
I particularly liked the part where Goku and Vegeta charge up their attacks while running towards Prum.
It sucks Shimanuki and Karasawa won't most likely be the supervisors of the "Special", but since I don't expect that to be the ending of the Tournament it's okay. I would still like them to animate something there. Karasawa has been out for such long periods that I've been waiting for something as epic as this from him again:

Hard believe this was Kara/Kuni from #66... yeash.
What I am curious about is, whether they will have normal 2 supervisors or if they'll genuinely treat it as a double episode and we'll have 4.Lord Beerus wrote:It's basically a double episode of the Tournament Of Power where we will see Goku's new form.Alee9977 wrote:The special is really a special, like a OVA or something like that? Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
We can say for sure now that it will be two episode at once on Oct 8th. Since, One piece website lists their special as being two episode aired at once.
