Maybe he's slowly been gathering the energy this whole time and brought it with him?

Why would Goku even use the Spirit Bomb so quickly? Doesn't he actually like to try and fight first?BlueBasilisk wrote:Maybe he's slowly been gathering the energy this whole time and brought it with him?![]()

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Thats odd, the only episode I know Nagamine co-directed thus far was episode 95. I think they realized that people are tired of Freeza and Freeza rip-offs, so they're going to try their best to make episodes related to them far more endearing. I really don't have any complaints though, episode 95 is one of the most memorable of the arc and more stuff like that would definitely be welcome.ArchedThunder wrote:They're the series directors.BlueBasilisk wrote:Maybe he's slowly been gathering the energy this whole time and brought it with him?![]()

This must be a really important episode if both the series directors are directing it. i'm almost certain that Vegeta will be eliminated now.ArchedThunder wrote:They're the series directors.BlueBasilisk wrote:Maybe he's slowly been gathering the energy this whole time and brought it with him?![]()

That summary could cover the first 5 minutes of the episode for all we know. If Goku is using the Spirit Bomb, it's probably because Jiren is stomping his ass pretty bad.namekiansaiyan wrote:Why would Goku even use the Spirit Bomb so quickly? It still feels rushed though for a Spirit bomb to be thrown so quickly in 1 episode.BlueBasilisk wrote:That summary could cover the first 5 minutes of the episode for all we know. I feel like 109 only has 5 guys left, Rib... Yadrat... Gohan... Goku.... Jiren base what 109 show, we don't even have 110 I think that where goku going use his new form on there against Jiren in 110, if jiren is that fucking crazy then goku has no choice to use Spirit bomb on him lmao, correct me if I'm wrong is spirit bomb only works if it evil person? kinda like mafuba if that make sense, however I think goku learn something during black arc when Truck was able to get spirit bomb, I'm pretty sure truck didn't just learn that goku probably just pop that out of his ass and gave it to trunks, call me crazy but that just my take until we actually see how he get his new form

They are deliberately not saying anything about 110 to keep it as a surprise.vashter wrote:I feel like 109 only has 5 guys left, Rib... Yadrat... Gohan... Goku.... There is definitely not only 5 people left in episode 109.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
What if Goku uses the Spirit Bomb and it detonates in the ring, takes out a bunch of the remaining fighters, including some of the U7 people, but leaves Jiren unscathed? That would certainly qualify as a "terrible thing."

Firstly, I meant to write "smarts rather than raw power."DragonBallFoodie wrote:I think DB is characteristically unique because of its focus on strength and power, in contrast to other anime sagas that focus on strategy with their abilities. I hope that makes sense.
But obviously that angle has turned out to be a double-edged sword with this saga. Anyway it's cool to see the Z-Fighters rely on strategy as long as they don't do it too often.
But yeah, I am aware that DB puts emphasis on pure, destructive power and flashy beams, but what I don't get is the disdain some people show towards characters that are obviously skilled, just don't have the brute strength to take on any opponent head on.
I've mentioned this before: Piccolo and the humans are the ones with the most creative and diverse set of attacks, at least when compared to the saiyans. (The only exception to that is Gotenks) I don't know whether this is because they were introduced during the earlier part of DB when the creator cared a lot more about coming up with inventive methods of fighting, as opposed to later when it got reduced mostly to punches and beam struggles, which is also when the saiyans took over or because he really wanted to establish a difference. Point is, you have so many ways in which to make them all relevant without threatening the power supremacy of Goku and Vegeta. I'll take a smaller but a well choreographed fight with creative moments over a earth shattering head-butting match any day.Lionel wrote: I think it would be more impactful to the viewer if the difference were substantial, not just a "Vegeta vs first suppressed form Freeza" fissure. These characters are supposed to be martial arts prodigies and geniuses. How are they not calling upon every technique under the sun to overcome or bypass these steel bulwarks called physiques that their opponents have? There's thousands of different martial arts styles and sub-styles. You mean not one character has thought to use something that isn't one-dimensionally summed up as "punch and kick"? I can find two styles immediately that deal with inflicting damage to the meridian system -- Kyusho Jitsu and Varma Kalai. What's to stop even the weakest, but notably skilled and well-versed on the placement and lethality of pressure point exploitation, of U7 from attacking the most vulnerable areas of Jiren's body (provided they are given an opportunity to do so first by disorientating him)?
Outsmarting through other means beyond stylistic martial arts would also be meaningful if a character happens to boast other strengths like Piccolo or Roshi do with some of their Ki attacks.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Well it seems these were confirmed now via Jake in twitter. I'm still very underwhelmed by these so far and that almost never happens. I think it's because some of these descriptions would fit an episode from the start of the ToP, not the end. Even the Goku and Jiren one seems so weird. There is nothing that points to any reason Goku should transform in that episode, and the Genki dama has no place in the ToP, unless he's aiming it at someone like Freeza. Regardless, I'm going to wait and see how these episodes play out. I'm hopeful that I'll be surprised and enjoy them.

Both the Mafuuba and the Genkidama work on everyone.vashter wrote:I feel like 109 only has 5 guys left, Rib... Yadrat... Gohan... Goku.... Lol at being upset at Frieza for not helping Gohan, whilst also not helping Gohan.Tombstone1988 wrote: 2.) The translation for episode 108 states that "seeing Freeza watch and smirk as Gohan gets knocked around, the Universe 7 team have the uneasy feeling that he has betrayed them." So everyone else has the time to notice Freeza contemplating betraying them, but none of them help Gohan? Not Piccolo, who was at Gohan's side at the end of episode 106? Not 17, who stopped fighting Ribrianne to shield Goku? Not 18, who assisted Goku with the Pride Troopers and was willing to help 17 against Kakunsa? Not Vegeta, who jumped in to help Goku against Universe 9? This makes very little sense, especially since this is a battle royale that encouraged working together. All of a sudden nobody is going to assist their team captain and instead gawk at Freeza?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
For me, my disdain is largely in response to the idea that the weaker fighters are more tactical. Goku's not only stronger than Tenshinhan, Krillin and Yamcha, he's a smarter fighter than them as well. Flashy techniques with a dozen weaknesses aren't more tactical just because they look more complicated than a punch. That they have to resort to such gimmicks is a demonstration of desperation, not a superior understanding technique.Michsi wrote:Firstly, I meant to write "smarts rather than raw power."![]()

The fundamentals of attacking and guarding, of prediction and anticipation; those are where the true tactics of a fight are, not in the gimmicks. If your technique relies on your opponent's inadequacies then it's not good in the long run. It's only a matter of time until you run into an opponent who knows how to respond.

Suspicious because he seems to be taking pleasure in Gohan's suffering, not upset because he isn't helping.TysonWine wrote: Lol at being upset at Frieza for not helping Gohan, whilst also not helping Gohan.

Just going to state this in advance, judging purely by the staff list, I think 108 might be kind of a dud. The script writer isn't really that great, and the animation will probably be similar to what we got back in episode 100.
I'm far more excited for the 107 and 109, they at least look to have some promise to them based on the staff list.

This genkidama is nonsense and we know that it will be useless. Seriously, Goku
