Dragonball Crossovers: Opinions

I remember this guy who made a crossover video to Naruto and DBZ and it sucked. I wonder what he was smoking.

Crossovers can be fun! They can also be the sux0rz!

Actuaully... I don't know if I remember why I decided to write a DBZ / Starwars fic. I think it was because I'd just got some Starwars figures and was at not my house (well... it's my house now.

), and so we had them fight the DBZ figures tha were present, and eventuall I decided it should be an action figure movie. But it wasn't, and therefore the story itself has many flaws because it was written to be awesome as opposed to good (and my writing has improved lots since...).
Nonetheless, figuring out how to make it work was... well... fun.

. And then I got sidetracked and tried to write sequels. And that... just... doesn't work.

I saw that amv and I disagree with you, LOL.

Neko Majin is the greatest thing EVER... but it's writtin by Toriyama too so of course he would do it properly, haha.

Other than that, there have only been 2 DragonBall crossovers that I have read which actually handled the powers and the characterizations properly.

One of them was a what-if, where Trunks travelled to the wrong reality instead of going back in time to meet Goku, and instead went to a different earth with the Sailor senshi. His time machine was damaged in the trip, so he had to stay there until he could fix it. He ended up pulling a Gohan and using his Super Saiyan state as an alter ego for helping the senshi fight youma.... blah blah blah, romance... it was really very good, especially when english wasn't the guy's first language.

The other story was one in which Usagi makes a wish on the Ginzuishō to go to a world that needs her help. So she's transported to the DBZ world, and everyone is training because the androids will appear in 3 years... lalala romance...

Those were written AGES ago though. I haven't seen any crossovers, other than official stuff, coming close to being entertaining.

Mostly I like to do DB crossovers with Yugioh, and sometimes Sailor Moon.

My friends and I do Original DB/YGO crossovers in our RPs.

You're kidding me dude. I literally have had the exact same idea... since 6th grade (I'm in college now). It started off as something my friend made up during an assembly, and it's expanded and grown from there. Now, it's never been those timelines/characters explicitly, but the likeness is uncanny. You haven't been reading my posts on other forums have you??

But really, the first installment (whenever I get around to completing it; I seem to keep rewriting Chapter 1 every couple of years... ) is tentatively titled The Dark Wars: Dimension X. And sure enough, it's about an inter-dimensional evil that's spread throughout multiple universes. I don't want to give too much away, but I have my own original cast of characters as Mains and they go through each one, fighting this force and encountering many familiar faces along the way. In fact, the very thread topic is something I've thought a lot about, and I believe I have a way to tackle the "problems" Kunzait outlines.

Anyway, I don't know when you'll be releasing yours; mine could be a long while but I intend to share mine with DaizEX and so while the concept might be similar it'd definitely be interesting to see how they both turn out. Hell, maybe they could even intersect; who knows...

My idea came from wanting to do a DB/Naurto crossover story. So I set about working on a plot for that and it evolved into this. Largely cause I've wanted to do several other crossovers featuring Naruto and Kid Goku and figured this was the best chance for it. I've written the first couple of chapters but I'm still toying around with the names for the original characters.
