Not even close. The pilaf gang rarely has anything to contribute and often intruded where they are not needed and halting the story. Roshi does no such thing. He is there sometimes and has only "Stole the spotlight" in his own episode. Roshi hasn't stolen anything from anyone yet. Y'all are talking like Roshi is in every episode, taking up half the screen time.
With Roshi, they were just banking on Nostalgia and now there is a risk that he will ruin Frost and turn him into a joke that no one will take seriously, and also it would make 50% of Universe 7 look like total trash.

Frost shouldve gone to hunt Piccolo tbh, which wouldve been a continuation from their first encounter, way back in the Champa Arc.

Banking on Nostalgia or not, Roshi is nowhere near as intrusive as you make him out to be and in fact has gone above what most of us even expected from him. He is there in the background and had his own episode. That's it so far. You're upset at something that MIGHT happen. We can discuss how roshi ruined everything if/when it happens but until then Roshi has been a fine addition to the team. He has business being there and he showed us as much.

I'd barely call that a history. Not every little encounter has to be followed by a personal vendetta. Frost has no reason to care about Piccolo. Vegeta, yes. Which is who is actually targeting.

Give Roshi a break guys, just cause he isn't that string doesn't mean that he has to be eliminated already. He used brain over brawn in 105, so who knows what's gonna happen in the future.
Roshi IS getting milked. The guy couldn't beat King Piccolo and all of a sudden he's in a universal tournament? He can't even compete with Raditz. What they did with Frieza at least made sense. His race was naturally strong and never needed to train. Roshi on the other hand has been sitting down beating off to magazines all throughout Z and somehow he's as strong (or stronger?) than Krillin and Tien? That's bull crap. Tien trains everyday of his life and was shown to surpass Roshi in Dragon Ball. Now all of a sudden Roshi can compete at the same level as everyone else?

I never watched 105 out of fear that I'd be too frustrated. But for someone to sit here and say Roshi isn't getting milked is just ridiculous. Toei/Toriyama have already shown that they don't care about any consistencies they established in Z, but you people sit there and defend it like it's okay and nothing's wrong with it.

I obviously can't list Freeza yet because they haven't done anything with him so far and he's being saved for the end.
Piccolo has not dome much and has the same fighting as Frieza. The pnly difference he has done is save Gohan from being knocked out.

Looking ay the spoilers Frieza and Piccolo could be going the equivalent of 14 episodes in this tournament with no real fight that last more than 15 seconds.

Gohan would be behind 17, 18 and Roshi as well.

It won't ruin Frost for me as I see no problem and the problem many of you have is that you see characters as either 'Top tier' or 'fodder' with nothing inbetween and without actually properly analysing characters.

As far as the ToP goes, I'd argue outside of Goku and Vegeta, 17, 18, and Roshi have all been treated better than Gohan so far.

If you actually watched the episode you'd know Roshi didn't beat characters by being more powerful than them, rather by using techniques. Roshi is at best somewhere between Nappa and Saiyan Saga Vegeta in terms of power now.

He's gone "above" what most of us expected of him because the writers wrote it that way. It doesn't make it right or consistent with everything else.

I already know he used tactics and experience.

Dragon ball has, on multiple occasions, shown us that these strategies don't work on overwhelmingly strong opponents.

I'd highly doubt Roshi could be that strong. King Piccolo was an ant compared Raditz. How could he possibly get as strong as Raditz if he wasn't even strong enough to beat King Piccolo after he's had 60+ years of training in Dragon ball?

Well yeah, of course. That's how fiction works. Shit happens because it's written that way, these characters aren't living beings with a mind of their own but big bad Toie/Toriyama keeps using their mighty pen of reality bending to trip them up with magic.

You just said you didn't watch the episode. So I can't really expect you to know what was "right or consistent" about what Roshi did. No, hearing about it doesn't count.
If you don't like Roshi, then fine, I'm not trying to sell you on him. But there is nothing wrong with Roshi still being here. Him having one episode hardly counts as "milking" him.

Roshi is hardly fighting gods. He is fighting Tricksters and people are just aren't all that skilled. When Roshi knocks out Hit with a swift kick in the ass , then I will be on your side.

He is good enough to compete against characters in the tournament and that is all that matters.

If someone calls a fighter 'fodder' then that person does not understand what a battle royale is or the rules of this tournament.

Going on eliminations Roshi has been involved in 5 so no matter what he does next he has justified his place.

Roshi only lost to King piccolo because he missed the rice cooker and because Piccolo was retcon to be a namekian and not be a demon, roshi probably could have sealed raditz. Toriyama could have used him but he forgot.

Also are you forgetting in the saiyan saga that Krillin, Tien, Yamcha and Chiaotzu surpassed Goku, Piccolo and Raditz in year doing the same training he did for 3? Not to mention Goku was stronger than before that 3 years because Kami was stronger than King Piccolo.

Essentially. Not sure why some are saying it isn't consistent or right. It isn't consistent with what exactly? He's fighting opponents that aren't from U7 and so can be portrayed at a level appropriate enough to have Roshi get a good performance. They did a good job justifying Roshi's spot there. As far as the fodder thing, I think most people just mean fodder to the top fighters. At least that's what I gathered.

The fodder thing makes no sense as many would say Tien is fodder to Frost but then Frost is fodder to Goku but people won't call Frost fodder. Everyone is fodder right now accept for Jiren as no one can beat him right now. This is what I mean by people not understanding a battle royale or the rules of this tournament.

You said Roshi only lost because he missed the rice cooker. Roshi HAD to seal him because he was too powerful to fight head on.

There's no way he could "forget" Roshi for the entirety of Dragon Ball. Lunch is the only one that he potentially "forgot about". Roshi was done for in Z.

Yes I know that entire group got stronger in a year, but they were also in their prime. Roshi has been around for x amount of years and the strongest he ever got was below King Piccolo at the end of his first death.

No, he ISN'T getting milked, I don't know where you are getting this from. I also don't know why you keep on talking about Roshi's strength when I literally said that he used brain vs. brawn in 105. Just a reminder, this tournament ISN'T just about power. He literally said to Ganos: "You are stronger/But I have more experience." Also, Roshi has only had 1 episode in this tournament that mainly focused around him, so enough of this getting milked nonsense...

I can't speak for anyone else, but when I refer to a character as "fodder" I'm usually referring to that character being a complete mismatch for their opponent. In other words, the difference in power between the two characters is so high that one of them has absolutely no chance of ever winning. For example, Krillin was "fodder" to Perfect Cell, as he couldn't even phase him with how powerful he was in comparison. In the same vein, Universe 9 was "fodder" to Goku and Vegeta because they stood absolutely no chance of ever defeating our two heroes. However, even though Roshi and Darkori are both very weak compared to, say, Jiren, compared to one another they're relatively close in strength, so neither is really treated as "fodder."

I think you and I might have a different definition of what constitutes as "skilled." Frost is quite powerful; in fact, he should be more than capable of one-shotting Roshi. Him making it to at least episode 109 means that Frost doesn't manage to do that, which just doesn't make sense to me. Obviously we'll have to wait and see what happens; maybe Frost will knock him silly and toss him out, only for Goku to grab him at the last second or something. I don't know, I just don't see what Roshi sticking around past episode 107 will really contribute to the rest of the tournament.

I would also like to add that we have no indication as to the power the fighters of the other universes exactly have and we may just be assuming that just because they are in this tournament must mean they hold awesome power. What may be one universes best may be another universes worse. Its clearly said by Goku that Roshi has been training in secret and that line is justified to what Roshi said before firing his kamehameha by saying that Goku and Krillin taught him that he has new heights to reach. I think the issue is that we're trying to apply real world logic on how a old man who has lived longer than he should have and can become buff as all Hell in an instant can be strong.

Yeah, the bolded says it. Can't really say something doesn't make sense when it hasn't been shown yet. Obviously if Frost is beating the shit out of Roshi and he is still in there just fine, then I could see a problem. But were not their yet, and I'm just talking about episodes that have aired already. I didn't see what Roshi could contribute at all, but 105 pretty much told me. So maybe he'll still do something cool. Maybe he won't and will just take up space.

Point I was making was that Roshi isn't fighting people like Toppo or Jiren and coming out unscathed. He is fighting people far below that.

Calling it now, Roshi's winning the tournament via being the last man standing or being set up as a brutal victim of Jiren to give Goku a personal connection to Jiren's defeat.

Jerin is part of a hero group so I don't think he'd go after an old man.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
