Is Dragonball GT entire filler?

First of all, as it's been said, Dragon Ball GT is, by definition, not filler.
Secondly, as far as I'm concerned, there's two different canon storylines. There's Manga Canon and Anime Canon.
Dragon Ball GT is Anime Canon. It is not Manga Canon.
I think a more interesting question would be if you consider Neko Majin Z to be Manga Canon.

The really frightening thing is, in ways the Neko Majin Z manga is more canon and consistent with DBZ than GT is. >>The Lecherous Muten Roshi wrote:I think a more interesting question would be if you consider Neko Majin Z to be Manga Canon.

Oh, I loved that, Vegeta, Super Saiya-jin, working for Freeza!TripleRach wrote:I would, if not for the Vegeta chapter. That just doesn't fit anywhere. The Lecherous Muten Roshi wrote:I think a more interesting question would be if you consider Neko Majin Z to be Manga Canon.
That's so lacking in continuity! It is a brilliant manga though. I loved the way Vegeta was drawn.

I think are answer is right here!Olivier Hague wrote:Yeah, but just try and remember they're both "anime". ^^;Phenomenol wrote:There is a difference between TV series and the movies ya know?
Yeah, Broly, Janenba and... Garlic Jr. Whoops.Toriyama considers the movies (Brolly, Janemba) out of continuity.
So were the movies. The TV series was developed with the author
Quotes from Toriyama:
http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/88/t100 ... iews/1.htmQ: What does the Z in Dragonball Z stand for? (Most of us know that the Z was only used in the anime and it was just an index to separate Goku as a kid and Goku as an adult. But check out the response from Toriyama-san).
A: I was starting to run out of things for Dragonball and I really wanted to finish the series. So I thought that if I put a Z at the end of Dragonball, people would think that it was going to end soon!
Q: How would you position the Dragon Ball Z anime (TV series)?
A:I consider the TV animation to be in "one dimension" with the Manga. I have what I call Canon, which is the TV series and the original, printed comic edition works that are directly tied into continuity.

And that doesn't change the fact that there are references to the movies in the TV series, and contradictions between the manga and the TV series...

The source was from that Dragonball Forum. The poster says it was from a jump interview.Olivier Hague wrote:Source?Phenomenol wrote:Q: How would you position the Dragon Ball Z anime (TV series)?

And your right that there are contradictions between the manga and TV series. I think I always agreed with you on that part. But my point is it is still in continuity.

It doesn't seem Toriyama cared in that quote. It looks like to me Toriyama was asked a question and he just answered it, concerning the TV series of Dragonball. Toriyama does say the Anime is in "one dimension" with the manga.Duo wrote:Does the term "Canon" even exist or mean anything to the Japanese? That quote is so obviously someone putting words in Toriyama-sensei's mouth. If the man cared what people considered "Canon' or not, he would've actually put effort to making it known.

The poster said it was from a bunch of different things, really...Phenomenol wrote:The source was from that Dragonball Forum. The poster says it was from a jump interview.
And if it was from a "Jump interview", whuch Jump would that be? The Japanese one? The US one?
So, again, source?
I wondered about that, too... Maybe something like "seishi"...?Duo wrote:Does the term "Canon" even exist or mean anything to the Japanese?
I'd be curious to see the original quote... If it exists, of course.
Lot's of people make fake interviews with Toriyama-sensei in order to push their own opinions in debates over stupid crap. That kind of immaturity shows a person who both cares too much about details in an Anime/Manga series, but also can't use evidence or intelligent to actually prove a point.
And in this case, it reminds me all too much of those fake interviews, making Mr. Toriyama say "Canon" and quite obviously push the Anime and Manga to be the same universe, in order to be able to throw that in the faces of people who consider them separate.
The sourcing is shoddy enough as is, which Oliver pointed out, to where I don't trust this at all.
Even so...the Author has never been shown to care about this subject anyway, which is why we all just take our own personal opinions and leave one another be for the most part.

I have no idea where the poster got those interviews from, but the poster said that the interview were from jump magazine. I know Jump magazine isn't fake.Olivier Hague wrote:The poster said it was from a bunch of different things, really...And if it was from a "Jump interview", whuch Jump would that be? I did see the poster post the cover for Jump but I don't know if it is the right one.

I find this whole issue so very ironic...You believe this random forum posting stranger over something as important as this when he doesn't even point out the specific Jump issue, provide a scan of said "interview", and whatnot; yet you couldn't believe someone as truly reliable as Duo on the Kid Buu debate we had a while ago, despite him proving the facts not even a month before hand. You seem to very conveniently just 100% believe something that has very little credibility in its evidence, yet question things like Kid Buu's power level and Broly destroying a galaxy into infinity. I personally see you as a hypocrite, Phenomenol. Guys like Olivier Hague, Xyex, Duo, and even Desire back up the most of what they can in debates, yet you just 100% believe this stranger whom doesn't supply any concrete proof, despite making everything else anyone here states into a debate. Oy...Phenomenol wrote:I have no idea where the poster got those interviews from, but the poster said that the interview were from jump magazine.Olivier Hague wrote:The poster said it was from a bunch of different things, really...And if it was from a "Jump interview", whuch Jump would that be? For the love of God...Dude if you actually read what I posted you would see that I thought Duo used the Viz or the Dub lines for his sources. When I found out that he did NOT use those but the ACTUAL japanese anime lines, I accepted them. You can even see Duo being insulted, for me thinking he would even consider using the Viz or Dub lines. All I needed was a line, not a damn pic, not a freakin source, or scan. I accepted DUO's WORDS!! Like Duo said; "why would I lie?" Why would ANY poster lie?Conan the SSJ wrote:I find this whole issue so very ironic...You believe this random forum posting stranger over something as important as this when he doesn't even point out the specific Jump issue, provide a scan of said "interview", and whatnot; yet you couldn't believe someone as truly reliable as Duo on the Kid Buu debate we had a while ago, despite him proving the facts not even a month before hand. I find it ironic for you to just come out and attack me like that (you always do that). I believe and respect EVERYONE here, otherwise I would not come here. I also don't jump to conclusions like you and calling other people's posts fake or madeup.

First off, how the hell am I "attacking" you? All I was doing was being honest and straight with you, with valid reasons. I in no way insulted you, considering I said "I personally see you as a hypocrite", that's how I feel about you and I gave my reasons why I do, I didn't say that's what you for fact are since I don't know you in real life. Secondly, it wasn't just me calling this forum poster's "transcribe" fake, Duo is as well, and that's only because there's no legit issue number or scan of this interview given. At least when Duo brought up the aforementioned subtitle lines for the Kid Buu discs, he pointed out which episodes they were and where they were said. Lastly, I do find it insulting that you'd insinuate that I "Always attack" you, which I know that I don't. I think it's been established that you have a pretty horrible memory as it is.Phenomenol wrote:I find it ironic for you to just come out and attack me like that (you always do that). 1. I already told you that I acknowledged DUO's quotes as fact as soon as he TOLD me they were from the ANIME!
2. You just jumped out of nowhere just to say that I would "believe a poster stranger over Duo" when that is indeed an attack, which is not true. The poster said it was from Jump magazine, I take that as fact, just like Duo's, when he told me that his WORDS/LINES were from the Anime, I took them as fact.
