And how much was dubbed of the various dubs? It'd be interesting to have it all in the first post of this thread.Tian wrote:No. The Animax dub was recorded by Red Angel Media in Hong Kong and featured Andrea Kwan as Kid Goku.floofychan333 wrote: I'm currently wondering whether this Frontier thing is the same as the rumoured Animax Asia or Animaze dub. Re: Rarest Dragon Ball dubs
I've always found international dubs to be quite interesting. While some completely or only partially dubbed I find majority are only watchable for curiosity reasons. So many of these international dubs are just too poor in acting/production quality to genuinely accept as something one would actually admire on the same level as what is distributed today. However, nonetheless they are still interesting and very fun to discuss. I always liked skimming through and reading about these various dubs.
While not technically the "rarest" the Westwood and Blue Water dubs would still be on this list. Its impossible to find anywhere complete (recaps, episode, preview) for every single episode online thus making it rare. Every episode that was available at some point online in the past has always been of trash quality, or missing parts. I manage to own every single episode of Westwood Z complete in Hi-Fi stereo, along with the Blue Water dub of DB all on VHS. Though GT is particularly more difficult to come by oddly enough, I'm still trying to search if anyone has episodes as I do not really have any myself for this series. However, once you hear these series in it's glorious uncompressed Hi-Fi stereo with a peak frequency of 16khz (studio quality) and not anything below 12khz or lower (especially if its mono) like whats available online the watching experience truly is of a completely different world my god.

If you have any Canadian dubbed recorded material and would like to preserve it, please PM me!

I know we've had our differences but I love that you like the Mexican dub. I will tell if I ever hear of any way of owning it legally.

haha I've had to settle for other ways of watching the show unfortunately...
And yes, our differences are there but we are essentially the same. We are fans.

Did you grew up with the Latin American dub? It's always good to find a fellow fan of the Latin American dub on English speaking forums.Bardo117 wrote:Still no legit way to get the Mexican Spanish Dub....
Although it true that there's practically no way to legally own the Latin American dub, it does have a home release. Or at least Dragon Ball and GT do.
Heres what's available
Dragon Ball:
Mexico: only first 28 episodes available on DVD (On Screen Flims)
Chile: all 153 episodes released on DVD (Editorial Edisur)
Dragon Ball Z:
Mexico: only the first 74 episodes available on DVD (On Screen Flims)
Dragon Ball GT:
Mexico: all 64 episodes availabe on DVD (On Screen Flims)
Movies and specials:
Mexico: dbz Movies 11, 12, and 13 and the GT Special released on DVD (Towers Entertainment)
Battle of Gods available on DVD and Blu-ray (On Screen Films)
Resurrection 'F' available on DVD
Currently all movies and specials are being released on DVD and Blu-ray (Zima Entertainment). There up to dbz movie 11 right now.
All of Dragon Ball was released on DVD in Chile. These are just FUNi's blue bricks synced with the Latin American audio but with no Japanese audio track. This is probably the best home release of the Latin American dub out there. Unfortunately it's only available in Chile. Dbz was only released on DVD up to episode 74 in Mexico. All of GT was released on DVD in Mexico as well, but its quality is not very good. All 64 episodes were released on just 5 DVDs. Apparently it has audio issues where both the Japanese and the Spanish audio play on the same time on some episodes. And all the movies and specials are currently being released on DVD and Blu-ray by Zima Entertainment. They're currently up to movie 11 of dbz. These are just a transfer of FUNi's Blu-rays.
But yeah, it not like the FUNimation dub were the series has had several home releases on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray. Or even the Japanese version were they only have one, but COMPLETE home release of the whole series. All we have are some crappy GT dvds (only available in Mexico), a decent Dragon Ball dvd release (but only available in Chile) and the movies and specials.

Years and years later I'm still wishing they would've finished those Ultimate Cut Editions with the Latin America Dub.... I wonder why FUNImation lost the rights to that Dub, or why they won't at least just include it into their next release...

They also did Dr. Slump.

1) Me too. The release's design looked pretty good.Bardo117 wrote:Years and years later I'm still wishing they would've finished those Ultimate Cut Editions with the Latin America Dub.... 2) I read somewhere it was because of the poor sales of the Spanish DVDs released by FUNimation.

I'm pretty sure there's no dub of Dr. Slump. All there is is a pilot by Harmony Gold that never aired on TV and a sub of a few of the movies.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:As far as I know, they dubbed the entirety of Dragon Ball.sangofe wrote:And how much was dubbed of the various dubs? Re: Rarest Dragon Ball dubs
There is definitely an English dub of Dr. Slump that was recorded in Hong Kong. Michael Pizzuto, who's been in loads of HK productions, has listed himself as an actor on one.floofychan333 wrote:I'm pretty sure there's no dub of Dr. Slump. Polish dub of movie 12 (that gave birth to at lest one legit film star). And I've lost my VHS!

Re: Rarest Dragon Ball dubs
Because there's very little information about it online. Dragon Ball is far more popular than Dr. Slump and this is all we know about the Animax dub. These productions almost never get released on home video, so you'd be reliant on TV rips, which are rare for things that were exclusively released in South East Asia. Just look at Bang Zoom's Dragon Ball Super dub. It premiered this year and footage of it hasn't come easy. Imagine 10+ years ago.floofychan333 wrote:Wait, what? It is now confirmed that those Speedy VCDs you see on eBay with episodes of DBZ on them are, in fact, dubbed by Speedy themselves.
