To be clear, Freeza just announced his intention to help another team, and Beerus could do nothing for fear of angering Zen-Oh.
That's exactly the dynamic Freeza expressed interest in exploiting after talking to Sidra during his recruitment episodes.
This time he was able to use the situation to eliminate Frost and come out looking like a team player, but I think next time he'll use that information for real. He's also expressed interest the wish for the winning fighter, and it's hard to imagine what else his end goal that involves using the gods' current worries could be.
Freeza's betrayal of Universe 7 is beyond stupid
Re: Freeza's betrayal of Universe 7 is beyond stupid
I kind of hope we don't end up with a cheesy ending with Freeza loosing because he jumps ship and then uni 7 winning make him get erased. That would almost be a shame at this point. Unless they really make him dig his heals in and use it so we hate him for it so much it makes up for it! I'm worried they wouldn't take it far enough though. he's gotta go full out ass for that. He'd have to leave no angle un manipulated in a massive way to achieve that though. He's got the setup for that but I wonder if the writing will take it far enough or the time is there. It would certainly shadow the frieza saga. Maybe it will end on some equivalent to frieza needing energy or him wanting back in uni 7 and goku reversing his decision and not helping him this time and leaving him to his fate out of universe. But I hope they make him the biggest asshole in visual media history before doing that!
Off topic but, what are the odds goku will be stupid and get his wish and instead of trying to wish for everyones safety wish for a massive royal rumble for all un-erased unis? Oddly enough it could reverse any of the above frieza nonsense and justify his betrayal completely to anyone and everyone! >< It would end the tournament on a horrifying light side that puts everything back to square one. Almost as comedic in nature as the TFS videos where they redub dragon ball. Even to the point of giving the winner the chance to survive again and reverse his victory! >< I guess that would depend on how strong any new form he gets is though. Or that is just being a giant dick. Not that that might necessarily matter to modern goku.
Edit: Just came to a erueka moment on another thread. Maybe frieza did it to teach gohan to use more than his current strategy by getting the enemy to use his strategy(the bulk form). I think it was intended as a teaching moment for gohan. Gohan was missing obvious weaknesses in frost and losing to easily to maximize the victory. Gohan was only saving stamina personally, not using his enemies up faster! Wink wink, nudge nudge! Gohan was using low form to save energy and frieza said to him no make frost use his.(Without this gohan fought for too long making his stamina saving virtually stupid potentially. Also a lesson in general strategy.) Then the threat was a shape up or I'll kick your butt message or a double sided coin to communicate to others like beerus and those in the stands without giving it away. Unless there is more too it on top of that. That or he was showing his intellectual superiority and scaring them at the same time for fun. Either way it keeps it more on the down low to not make dumber enemies see gohans weakness as frieza himself points it out to him. The way he told frost could easily be seen as codewords to gohan as gohan knows about those specific things. And he said he would defeat gohan if he, "didn't get it!" All keeping a vital lesson hidden from enemies but known to gohan and the audience. Then acting like he's turning diverting more attention away from him helping gohan to maintain an illusion he's betraying them. That would make sense then if it was all an act to finish training during the tournament to get everyone maxed out for the ending(Or just displaying how far behind gohan still is and even make sense out of piccolo helping so much.). I think frieza is just using his lying to help the team at this point. There was something way too clandestine about that scene that didn't sit right with me. I think this explains it.
This would also help make sense out of the whole, "I didn't see my sons potential," statement and the, "partner I'm looking for was here the whole time," thing from before the tournament. This could be continuing it but with a more realistic standpoint on gohans regrowing abilities. A leap in logic possibly, but maybe goku is going to get his son up to par more for the end like some are thinking. I just wonder in which way... if you look at this episode as frieza helping it's interesting as that makes a pretty good theme in the show for getting gohan back up to par. What was the lesson for gohan with piccollo losing his arms? Teamwork? There is even the whole future time thing where gohan died because of his lack of training. They may all know this. Maybe this is goku taking it seriously as opposed to uub being his replacement if that was ever true. Even though I personally wonder if GT won't become legitimized at the end of DBS also. Considering they used roshi to spy on abilities, they've bee hinting at an overall strategy to U7. Maybe it is setup to teach him and us what will happen against jiren. Teamwork and stamina draining. Could be them displaying the u7 team communicating subtly and preparing in the tournament live. we are like a single episode away from the jiren fight. Makes perfect sense when you consider the subjects they were focused on. More than a flatout betrayal. Going back to the original discussion. It does seem a frieza betrayal would be stupid at this point. Or at least with the events occurring at the moment. Maybe he'll pull something at the end where it would make more sense after jiren is gone etc.
It's still almost too stupid for frieza to forshadow this unless he plans a greater U4 betrayal and bring out the mouses plan. Although I could see him using that betrayal again later. he's not dumb enough to be that blunt without layering it in deceit to confuse the enemies and his team. He would not be that straightforward from his character betrayal. It would have to be wildly convoluted. Maybe, again, using the double layer of deceit to cross them after they think he pretended to cross them when it's convenient enough or something more complicated. Middle of the tournament is too stupid unless there is a much greater more complex scheme for later. It would have to be all about timing. He is a supervillian afterall.
I think it's the same thing with vegeta and roshi. They are not bickering. It was codeword and revealing a more elaborate plane for U7. He left because it was the plan all along. He was done he was told to get out of the way in codewords to not give on appearances(Roshi would not take a dive like that. It's subtly out of character.). Even his tactics could be explained by this. He had targets to get rid of and an appearance to maintain. He used a blunt attack to get rid of them and look weakened and appear stupid strategically or like he's fighting alone etc. Roshi's job in the strategy was done! Even their sadness after loosing is a facade if I'm not mistaken. At that point maybe tienshan didn't lose because he couldn't. Maybe it was a ruse. He only needed to get that guy and roshi had gotten them a lot more info and they were using it knowing who to eliminate and getting softies out before an enemy could use them by holding them hostage in essence. I don't think any of the losses are on purposes. Unless krillin was different. I could almost see krillin at the end being surprised as they reveal all of this after the tournament. It's the same with uni 6 being taught. It's all being hidden from others as they disguise a more clever plan. Maybe that is what jiren was seeing and reacting too. Goku and others may be doing things and getting injured to fool the enemies in various ways. He also may be acting pumped up so enemies think he's stupid and headstrong when he's realy still his normal self. But that might make enemies act differently giving him a strategic edge and letting him take down enemies with less stamina use etc. This could be why they acted like they split up and weren't using strategy. It might have either given them an edge or even gotten the enemy to follow in suite and mess up more. I think this whole tournament is one big long elaborate u7 strategy playing out. And this last episode just showed frieza was in on it. Unless that changes later. His scheming gives him either way to go. But I would assume he knows goku would pick up on it pretty quick. So, an actual betrayal is very hidden or non existance. He alreayd has a body in hell. Maybe he really just thinks he can get good credit and get out of his cacoon even if he goes back to the afterworld. What else is he going to do with revival. He can't take over stuff again. But he can find a whole new world in the afterlife or somewhere else.
I think the writers are playing universal connect the dots with us. Notice even the universes are dots. And they were both connected by the writers and we had to connect them.
And this could explain why yamcha wasn't chosen. All of the other fighters have something in common. They can think strategically. Yamcha is the out in that area(potentially). Unless there is some unrevealed greater thing they know of and he's on earth for some reason purposely. He was there and someone could have talked to him offscreen.
You could even take the roshi dive farther and say if goku can remotely use his ,"technique," of telepathy remotely he can have roshi and others watching and communicating silently from the stands. Plus there is a silent loophole to killing and healing item rules if they die off the stage or heal with sensu beans off the stage. Maybe frieza was testing the death after disqaulification thing. That could be strategic as they could hit harder. Of course if their enemies pick up so can they.... but that might not matter as it might allow the to hit at a vital time to get an elimination they couldn't otherwise. Or maybe it was codeword to gohan that he is to do that in his part of something like a jiren battle. don't worry about death just hit him hard enough to get rid of him. We'll use strategy to get his stamina down etc to your level. All the while gohan plays down his power levels. Or has to because the other are needed to keep his power and stamina preoccupied for some reason and gohan is odd man out for a final blow that takes like split second timing while he's distracted or something. Notice, frieza display and says in front of gohan, "Ohohoho, I avoided all his weak points", And, "it doesn't matter because he can die on the stand." They could always be nice and give jiren a sensu bean after he is eliminated. they are also playing up making the U11(toppo etc if I"m using the write uni) think they are up against evil people. this could be part of a strategy or something. It all connects potentially. Or has room to. I'm going to predict goku starts the strategy off by using his mass strength and stamina to help get jiren weakened or drained etc. Then the rest of the strategy commences. Although the order could be drastically different. It would make sense for goku with his extra abilities to do something unique at the start. Then Freeza and vegeta are basically the same strength to continue a fight with him(double team?!). At that point I assume goku knows his kaikenx20 or even new transformation doesn't have enough physically or strategically. But maybe he can make Jiren burn through stamina for the others.
Also, Maybe universe powerlevel is codeword from zeno to mean how dumb they are! I saw a manga chapter on youtube and if it was a correct translation one of the safe universes characters were shocked(Scared) by the power of the universes involved in the tournament. Was this an accurate statement? could mean this is all in response to zamasu. But with everyone trying not repeat a zamasu incedence or zamasu being in zeno. Zeno has a thing about rebellious universes doesn't he? Or is that future zeno?
