I wonder if we'll have any GT content...
I doubt there's much demand for any fighters from that series, it would also be risky. Add Super 17 and you have a bunch of people getting angry when a character like him get's in while other's don't(we already saw small examples of these reactions).
Even adding SSJ4 Goku and Vegeta currently would make people upset(me included) too many versions of them for such a limited roster.
Currently it seems the focus is on the core of the franchise and secondarily on Super, proven by Golden Freeza and the Blue Saiyans. I expect at least one Super villain/rival and Beerus to make it in.
This way the game can keep feeding itself from the latest hot stuff from Super, complementing that with the many, many characters from the manga and movies who won't make it to the first iteration.
This seems like the successful formula and what the game is doing.
I'll predict not a single DBGT character will make it to Dragon Ball FighterZ and that would be great news, personally.

Personally I don't want any DBGT charactes in at this point, neither Dr.Slump characters or Z movie/filler characters, and especially not another versions of Goku or Vegeta, or multiple fusion variations of the two, or Guilty Gear guest characters.
I'm fine with DB Manga characters + Super characters. Okay, maybe with the exepction of Brolly, but still I'd rather see Recoom, or Magetta taking the big & slow character's role.

Yeah, pretty likely. Most major players in GT already have versions in the game like Goku, Vegeta (+Baby), Trunks, #17, Buu (yes, Uub is a human and somewhat different, but still...). What's left are the Shadow Dragons and Pan. And maybe Golden Ape Baby as a MvsC style giant boss, which is unlikely. I'm not seeing characters like Ledgic appearing in the game... Though, I'd main him for sure!ShadowBardock89 wrote:If any character from GT appears, it would be Omega Shenron.

I doubt any Guilty Gear character, because they don't fit for DBFZ movelist-wise.

If there's a way for this game to flop; invited characters is one way to start that unlikely task.

I'd rather take the GT people over anything Super. The only thing from that disaster worth the time and effort to implement is Beerus, I would add Black in but he'd essentially just be another Goku who's hair turns pink instead of blue gold or red.LightBing wrote:I'll predict not a single DBGT character will make it to Dragon Ball FighterZ and that would be great news, personally.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

For a fighting game quality of the show doesn't matter. Only if the character is liked and potentially compatibly for a fighting game. Hit is a good example, bland personality wise and potentially interesting in a fighting game. From observation, he's overall liked there would be a positive reaction for his inclusion.ekrolo2 wrote:I'd rather take the GT people over anything Super. I watched GT once as a kid probably more than 10 years ago, I actively avoid discussions on it because my memory is hazy. From what I do remember, the concept of the warriors paying from abusing the Dragon Balls and how each Evil Dragon was a "boss" was pretty cool. I liked Oob also. Oh and the Portuguese opening is legendary, start singing on a street with enough people under 30 and you''l get a chorus started.
The show was meh or straight up bad. Super is in my opinion better and has been improving(although it should be much better).
Better stop before I'm warned for off-topic.

That all being said, it's a valid discussion point. As we discussed on the most recent episode of our podcast: yes, I'm all about visually-striking characters that could have cool, unique move sets. If this means it's a filler character or movie villain over someone else, so be it. That's why I think (Super) Janenba is a great choice. The purple and red color scheme is nice and bold on-screen. His blood sword would look great in combos. His teleportation would be unique to him among other characters (barring Goku's Teleportation Kamehameha), and the scattering pixel/voxel look to it would also look amazing. He could incorporate some of the giant-form Janenba techniques like punching through portals for some great long-range fighting.

Why? He has tons of unique moves in the manga/anime that the current cast doesn't have.ekrolo2 wrote:I'd rather take the GT people over anything Super. I wonder how the game is going to position itself alongside other post-Cell Saga storylines; I wonder if it'll be like a Dragon Ball movie, where it doesn't fit linearly into the timeline. It seems as a game to have a Super awareness, but is making itself post-GT in the sense of disregarding the latter series... I like that.
Seeing the world as neutral is a gift; then you see the most beauty.

I`m not against GT characters showing up as long as VegettoEX says, they add something unique, a flavor that is lacking to spice up the diversity.
I personally just have no interest in flooding a roster with versions of the same character or Saiyan clones that fight alike. They`re popular we all get it, but there`s a line in the sand or should be. I recall there being an alien in GT`s first arc with interesting design and abilities (swordlike?) whose name escapes me and of course, there`s Ubb.

I doubt we will have GT characters, since the roster will be small.
GT is not relevant to the new generation and the older generation overall only cares about DBZ with a big part caring about Super.
As for DB, it was always overshadowed by DBZ and now that Super is the new thing it will just make it worse.
Expect mainly DBZ and some DBS characters/transformations. Keep your expectations as low as possible for anything of DB and GT.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro

A bit redunctant if Trunks and Yamcha are allowed to use swords, which is the case with Trunks, thought I recall him using other weapons as well.

About a month ago, in this interview, they said:
It sounded like marketing fluff at the time, and still does; it doesn't make too much sense to not implement/publicly test system mechanics mere months before release. But it's still something I'm hoping to be true. It'll add more to the game than whatever wacky characters can be dreamt up.This sort of feature, and a number of features that we haven't been able to reveal at this point in time, will help the hardcore fighting game users enjoy the game as a fighting game.

Then why does it STILL get several appearances in all Dragon Ball video game media anyways? Not to mention the latter I ain't so sure about. It's plenty relevant enough or they would have dropped it years ago. Yet from Xenoverse to Fusions to Dokkan Battle they they never stop bringing in representation from GT. Whether they bring it here I dunno? At best I'd say Beerus I think may very well be in for sure ala Battle of Gods more than anything else. Outside of him, I wouldn't be too sure about anyone else. Super will definitely get treatment over GT for being the current show, but that doesn't make the other not relevant, just less relevant.FortuneSSJ wrote:I doubt we will have GT characters, since the roster will be small.

Not relevant would mean literally dropping the IP ENTIRELY, and never mentioning it again. Which is what happens to a lot of spin offs, comics, tie ins, etc when they don't want it to be remembered or used for anything.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I heard people saying that this game is one of the most faithful DB games regarding its characters moveset. Is that right or just an exaggeration?

The answer is simple. Character development for DBFZ is harder than any other game mentioned by you. Just look on Guilty Gear Xrd. GGXrd -SIGN- was published on arcades in February 2014 with 17 characters at launch. Current GG Xrd Rev2 has 25 characters. And still people want Bridget, Testament, Holy Order Sol, Zappa, Robo-Ky, Anji Mito, A.B.A… A lot of classic characters are not in the game yet.dbzfan7 wrote:Then why does it STILL get syeveral appearances in all Dragon Ball video game media anyways? Btw, as I understand, it is that GDC talk about graphics of Guilty Gear (and DBFZ): https://youtu.be/CWf-2JQMSyY
