Since this game is said to take place after the events of Dragon Ball Z, it better have Uub in it and mainly participating in the battles, being awesome in both alone battle and tag battles.

They did not said it right, I believe. It is after Buu arc, not the End of Z. Uub is too young. And he have nothing aside DBGT.Grimlock wrote:Since this game is said to take place after the events of Dragon Ball Z, it better have Uub in it and mainly participating in the battles, being awesome in both alone battle and tag battles.

So, assuming that the Dragon Balls are indeed a mechanic that will impact gameplay, and imagining it's a wish that you can choose like some people are speculating, here's some ideas for wishes:
Reviving one or both of your teammates
Restoring one character to full health and granting full meter(possibly reenabling Sparking Blast if already used)
Summoning a 4th character into the match for your team
Just in the interest of getting to 5 wishes:
Panty or zeni wish; panties or zeni rain from the sky forcing your opponent to block
Immortality wish for either an instant win, or limited duration before they start breaking up like Merged Zamasu

Ok then I wish for "Immortality!"

I forgot to clarify that the way I'm imagining who gets granted the wish involves a long startup (2~ seconds); the instant win variant of Immortality would be twice as long.

Maybe it`s different kinds of wishes depending your input when the balls gather?

I don't understand how are the Dragon Balls being split between the two players... any ideas?
Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" (PS4/XBO/PC, 2018, Arc System Works) Official Discussion Thread
It's shared, it seems, which you figure means players fight for the wish when it's time. Only other way I could see it be awarded is to give it to the player who collected the most, but that wouldn't be very sensible given the way you earn them.KayDash wrote:I don't understand how are the Dragon Balls being split between the two players... any ideas?

A theory regarding the story: We've seen #21 with one of those emergency stop device thingamajigs. We've also seen Goku & co "collapse" and fall unconscious. Maybe #21 made a stop device for non-robots, hence everyone except herself and #16 are affected? (Unless she is not 100% mechanical in which case my theory goes out the window)
And then, uh, Trunks shows up, and uh, goes back in time to get kid Gohan, the one who defeated Cell, because how else does he get involved in the story, and ... uh ... Nevermind, I'll find out in February.

I freaking love that of all the characters in this game Kuririn, Yamcha and Tenshinhan are the three I'm most excited to play.
To think that a few months ago people were questioning whether they would even be in the game. Now they're here and looking more interesting than they ever have.

Out of three I was only cautious of Yamcha due to Super newfound image of the retired figther at least in the eyes of the rest of the cast. Kuririn is always a sure lock, I wasn`t worried about him one bit.

I don't like how Arc System Works is so worried about power levels though. It's a videogame.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

The impression I got is it's a concern of Bandai's rather than ArcSys.FortuneSSJ wrote:What a great article! This was worth reading.Super Saiyan Turlast x4 wrote:Here's the entire Game Informer article: https://imgur.com/a/c4kjy

That's also what I discerned from the article. Took the time to read the article from Game Informer after coming back from work, and I found it to be quite a great read. It was extremely informative, insightful, and I have even greater admiration for how much effort Arc System Works is putting into FighterZ.
I'm also very fascinated by the mechanic of incorporating gaining Dragon Balls through chaining extended combos. I wonder how this will work into combat, but I hope more than anything, it doesn't disrupt the flow of gameplay.

I don't like putting it that way since it implies ASW is chafing under bad publisher interference; that they want to do other than what they're doing. I see no signs that's the case, unless you're assuming the approach is inherently bad and ASW should know better.LightBing wrote:That's also what I discerned from the article. I don't know what "it's a video game" is supposed to mean—there's more than one way to design and balance a game, and doing it around team composition is a rather common one. Maybe not for fighting games, but as I've argued before, intentionally designing characters to fit roles rather than letting the chips fall where they may would be an interesting approach. Potentially better.
But that's assuming they're sincere in what they're saying. As far as I'm concerned, it's just marketing fluff to play up the appeal of the 3v3 format; time-filling words to repeat over and over in interviews.

I was watching the Goku vs Piccolo Jr. fight and it got me thinking, would you guys mind a 23rd Tournament Goku and Jr. DLC pack? Think about all the references Arcsys could pull out.

I know it's a taboo sentiment for a game like this, but I'd love to see those versions of Goku and Piccolo in the game, and a version of Goku based on the Saiyan arc with Kaio-ken, Genki Dama and all that. I'd be all over it as DLC.budokaifanatic007 wrote:I was watching the Goku vs Piccolo Jr. fight and it got me thinking, would you guys mind a 23rd Tournament Goku and Jr. DLC pack? They are under publisher influence, if it's bad or good it's arguable. I said leash as a common term, I don't know how severe or light that influence is. We've had some indications.Simere wrote: I don't like putting it that way since it implies ASW is chafing under bad publisher interference; that they want to do other than what they're doing. I remember in a previous interview, maybe at Gamescom, it being said that Bandai would and already blocked among other things lines that the characters said.
Marketing stuff I don't buy it, they've named it as Bandai's concern. They've repeated this power-levels stuff before, which was received with confusion including in this forum. You know why? Because most of the people who are reading these early interviews and showing the greatest interest are familiar with fighting games, this concern didn't even crossed their mind.
Who might this concern? The other Dragon Ball fans, who aren't familiar with real fighting games. Bandai is all over this crowd. This game is also for them, that's why we have auto-combos and a simplified game at the surface level.
If we have a tag team game because of Bandai then, thank you. Because I love this aspect, a big percentage of fights in Dragon Ball are team based including the best ones.
Unfortunately I think choices like including the Blue versions of Goku and Vegeta is their negative influence and I expect a few more disappointments until the game is released. I doubt it will hurt the game significantly, because it's Arc System who's developing the game and have the highest impact by far.

They've said it, but do you see it translated to the game? Kuririn was just as able to challenge SS Goku as anybody, and the SSBs aren't overwhelmingly powerful in the new video — they're not even noticeably more powerful. So either it's lip service, or it's as I said awhile ago: a 6-4 matchup at worst. Something that can only be felt at the highest levels of play, which is perhaps what Bandai would be concerned about: the (most) popular characters not being represented on the big stage.LightBing wrote:Marketing stuff I don't buy it, they've named it as Bandai's concern. As I see it, SS Goku's extremely basic moveset puts him more at risk of being weak than Yamcha.
