Exactly, most people who crap on One Piece have only watched/read a small amount. Just get past it's art style and you'll see how great it is.
It's still shit when you get past the packaging.
That's your own personal opinion. Not a fact.

Yes I don't really mind it either and Sean started doing it more often from Kai Dub since now Nozawa does have an influence on his Gokū voice.
I prefer Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, DB/Z/GT Movies, Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT in Japanese.
For DBZ Kai and two new Movies I like both Dub and Sub. I Prefer Shunsuke Kikuchi Soundtracks over All other Composers.

That's your own personal opinion. Not a fact.

Absolutely agree One Piece is a wonderful series. I am so far behind with it that I don't think I will ever get caught up unfortunately but I will always love One Piece. I hate when people just come in just to insult something.

In fact I can't even say what I like more One Piece or Dragon Ball. Watching Kai & Super now and rewatching some of Z has definitely rekindled my love for Dragon Ball so at the moment its probably ahead of One Piece. But when I was following One Piece that series was top in my heart. They both offer great characters and great worlds.

One Piece I love the chemistry of the cast and with Dragon Ball I love that its a generational show that the main character started as a child and now is a grandfather (and of course there are other changes like that throughout the series). With One Piece I feel this deep connection between the characters. With Dragon Ball I love seeing how far these characters have come. That looking back from the beginning of Dragon Ball is very rewarding.

There was a difference between the two dubs: 4Kids had people who had experience, while Funimation got people from the street.
For all the hate it gets the 4kids dub had some good actors and a lot of it's faults are in it's bad direction. Nami and chopper where pretty good voice wise, Luffy's actress matched Tanaka's pitch for better or worse, and Diraison's Zoro was awesome.
Actually, wasn't Sanji's VA literally just a guy thy got off the street? Hell, doesn't he also own a restaurant now? Talk about getting into character!

I think people would get over the voices themselves if it wasn't for all the shitty changes that completely fuck over the story, ESPECIALLY in the Arlong arc. It would be years before the Western fanbase could fully appreciate the awesomeness of the actual Ussop...

I believe he actually owns a bar, not a restaurant.

Even though his voice didn't really fit Sanji, I always had a soft spot for it. Despite all the hatred he gets for Sanji, he actually did fine in other roles.

I always felt so bad for the 4Kids VA's. Just because they worked for 4Kids, people suddenly believe they suck as voice actors. They actually have more vocal ranges than most of Funimation's actors, even though their talent pool is smaller. I'll always love their work on TMNT 2003.

Basically, like movies, even your best actor can't make up for bad directing and a bad script

Indeed. While I prefer subs, I just wish people could understand that dub voice actors are not the reason why a dub sucks. If you're going to blame someone for a bad dub, blame the director and the script.

From what I've seen of the dub, Silverstein's Hisoka is the best thing about it. He'd be an amazing voice for Frieza.

Another dub that is an example of good voices but bad direction is the Gundam Wing dub.

I just think he only captured the Horny guy thing of Hisoka but not all round Like Japanese Seiyū , was he the one who did freeza in Episode 26 ? That was good voice acting.

With the exception of a few voices, the performances in Gundam Wing were fine. Hell, the DBZ Ocean dub performances, for the most part, it's simply the scripts that were lacking.

I think there were like two really bad voices, the voices of Miss Une and General Septum.

Silverstein's Hisoka is perfect IMO, what else is he missing besides sounding like a creepy horny pedo. Gon and KIllua's actors have also improved greatly from the start. I agree with you that the biggest problem with the dub is not the acting, It just sounds a bit wooden because the translation is to literal.

While I love the 4kids voice actors personally, I literally interacted with Erica Shroeder and she's a delightful person, I think the availability of the Funimation dub and or nostalgia, or both has caused people to look back fondly on the 4kids one piece dub with fondness, which isnt wrong at all. However, people are giving the 4kids voice acting in the One Piece dub WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much credit. I REALLY dont like the Voice acting on it and people keep claiming its actually better than the Funi dub. Marc Diraison was awesome same with Lisa Ortiz and Erica Schroeder could have been better with better directing and writing but the voice acting on the 4kids dub is TERRIBLE.

But they shouldn't try to improvise the scripts too much or we will get another Ghost Stories type of dub :D

The difference is Ghost stories and Funi's Shin Chan dub where made as gag dubs on purpose and are basically officially dubbed abridged series.
As far as translation sounding natural I think Funi's post 2009 Dragon Ball and One Piece dubs find a good balance between accuracy and smooth translation.
