Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
#1 I think many people have the same fear. In my opinion,it's one of those things that Super has been doing a terrible job at. Little to no explanation or back story of how or why someone gets powers "X"....other than reasons! It leaves too much guess work for the fans and then there is so much confusion. Take Vegeta getting SSB for example, there is no concrete evidence as to why he gets this form. We can all assume its because he trained with Whis, or sparred with Goku, but that doesn't pan out either. Why not have everyone else train with Whis if you can obtain the form that way? Why go through all the trouble of the Saiyan ritual in the 1st place. Or how Roshi is as strong as he is, or at least how he appears to be. Krilling being able to push back ANY form of Goku. Gohan going from chump-zillia to seemingly going toe-to-toe with SSJB Goku with only a minimal training because of potential? It's just not very well formulated story telling.TheMikado wrote:We know nothing about the form, what it is and what powers it grants. But I have the same fear if it is based off the move without thinking principles. The only way this could would would be a combination of using momentum based attacks based on he opponents own momentum and precision based attacks allowing Goku to target weak points rather than raw brute strength.GodVegetto91 wrote:It doesn't grant a power boost, it does, however, make him a near impossible to defeat opponent.MagmonKai wrote:I'm really confused, how is having "Mastery over Self-Movement" going to make Goku stronger? Yeah it may make him tougher to beat, but just because you can react faster won't make you the automatic winner. Is the new form stronger or what?
But I don’t think it’s well written enough for something like that and it shouldn’t grant a new form for that.
#2 I think if this form is significantly based off the "fight without thinking", then Whis needs to have a couple minutes of dialogue followed with a flash back. It could be something as simple as him and Goku training and we see Goku learning to adapt to this fighting style. Whis could even say something that Goku is approaching mastering this form, or SOMETHING like that. It doesn't excuse how poorly Goku has been doing against everyone else thus far, but it would make the technique far more believable vs Goku just show casing it with ZERO reference or substance to back it up. Hell, Whis could even say something like " Ohh, I was wondering when Goku was going fight seriously"
" I swear on that faith I can never back down now" - Goku

According to the new translations Herms tweeted, the tournament is nearing its end..
..What? The support characters have barely showcased what they can do, and there are still a bunch of major characters on the field.. I wonder if Jiren eliminates a bunch by simply powering up? Lol.
I definitely support the theory that this tournament isn't the main event of this arc now. Which to me, is a good thing.

I am honestly Not taking that part to seriously, I sounds more like snappy promoting to make the ToP have more Drama but we still have a few episodes to go. It was like a few weeks back in one of the previews it made it sound like many fighters were dropping like flys but we then we got slow eliminations from their.King Jacku wrote:According to the new translations Herms tweeted, the tournament is nearing its end..

I think Toei like any other company likes to spice up their words to make you more hyped then what really happens.

On the contrary for me. It gets easier for me, because at least i get to enjoy something and we have something to talk about until the time comes when it airs.SansrivaaL wrote:They keep putting out screenshots that waiting gets harder and harder, stop it Toei! each screenshot is killing me.

That's in episode 112. After 108, there's 29 minutes left, and if the two-minute pattern holds for a while again, then after episode 109 it's 27 minutes, after 110 it's 25, after 111 it's 23. At the end of episode 111, and thus the beginning of episode 112, less than half of the time would be left, which I guess could mean that by some definitions, the tournament would be nearing its end.King Jacku wrote:According to the new translations Herms tweeted, the tournament is nearing its end..

This pattern would mean that the tournament would run out of time during episode 123. Plenty of time to do stuff with characters. And that's not taking into account the episodes where only one minute passes, which has happened before and probably will again. Of course, if there's gonna be some kind of interruption, that can happen at any time.

We should also remember that original doesn't mean creative.HeroR wrote:It has the original author behind it, so it's canon, especially since Toriyama himself made the form, so that's like questioning if Super Saiyan God or Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan are 'canon'.Dbzfan94 wrote:How is that invalid?? You said it was the first transformation to have the black hair. That's flat out wrong. Whether it's "canon" or not, (not like DBS is definitively canon either) is not the point because it has nothing to do with the point.GodVegetto91 wrote: SSJ4 is non-canon. So that argument is already invalid. And you're wrong, it IS an original design.
Also, how? Base form hair with silver eyes isn't very original.
I do agree that Goku having a black haired form isn't new, we got one before Super Saiyan 4 with False Super Saiyan.

That’s assuming they used the entire 49 minutes instead of having one universe win before time runs out.Alruneia wrote:That's in episode 112. We have less than half of the competitors left and the clock is also nearing the half-way mark. It's possible things might speed up in the special and after so that more than 2 minutes pass in each episode. That happened in the recruitment arc.
I still feel some kind of shenanigans will happen before the end of the tournament and it won't reach a proper conclusion.

Great analysis. But also we have to take a closer look to the wide shot of the arena during the NEP. Look at the tower/watch, it's still pretty high:Alruneia wrote: That's in episode 112.
