How do you feel about Zeno's "Oooooooh" and "Aaaaaah" during the tournament?

I can't tolerate it anymore. I used to be able to to because it was kept to a minimum but in the latest double episode I can't stand it anymore because how frequently they would do it. It's so repetitive and frankly irritating. I'm at the point where I don't want to hear another word out of them.

It's easily my biggest complaint about episode 110.
"If you notice this and understand that it's flawed and just don't let it bother you, that's perfectly fine. But enjoying a flawed movie and calling a movie flawless are two completely different things."

They're adorable, they're wonderful, they're a delightful change of pace, and I wish they would have even more doubled-up one-liner commentary during the fight.
In the face of swirling animation and glaring empty eyes backed by an Akira Kushida insert song, they're perfect. A++++ would do business again.

I actually like that aspect a lot. It emphasis they child-like approach to certain manners as well as working as the role of audience surrogate so damn well. I mean, who wasn't freaking when Goku was fighting Jiren? Especially in his Ultra Instinct state? I mean, just the concept of 80 different fighters from eight different universes is enough to cause excitement.

i always laugh hard with Zeno [especially when i'm saiying WOW and he appear saying at the same time]. He is like us, the audience, he is always hyped as f**k and i really enjoy this.
also, i think that "funny" characters like Zeno are needed. I miss the Pilaf's gang, they made me almost die of laughing in the Black/Zamasu arc, i hope for their return soon. I like how DBS is mixing very well the action, with commentary/REACTIONS and Zeno's childish excitement.

I dont mind, they are growing on me more and more.
When they thought Goku was erased you could see it in their little faces like "Maybe this isnt so much fun after all =["

Re: How do you feel about Zeno's "Oooooooh" and "Aaaaaah" during the tournament?
It's like they feel the need to have them hype up what's going on, because in reality they know it's nothing special. You are just told how "Exciting" and "Amazing" everything is and that's just how you're supposed to feel. Is it that great though? I guess when I was 8 years old I'd be very much into all these random power ups and transformations, and blasts, but alas those days are gone.
Anyway I find it annoying, but since to me the Zeno's are meant to represent the way the writers of Dragon Ball Super view their audience, I guess I should feel insulted.
I'm still hoping Zeno's mom, the true ultimate god, appears at the end of the tournament and scolds him for destroying random universes.

Re: How do you feel about Zeno's "Oooooooh" and "Aaaaaah" during the tournament?
I showed a friend 109 and 110 last night. Whenever the Zeno's came on screen he would start laughing at their Oooooh's and Aaaah's. Those laughs then turned into sighs by about the 8th time they cut to them in the middle of an important scene doing it again, and again, and again. There was one shot where the Grand Priest's head slowly eclipses the Zeno's and he went "Oh thank fucking god, I don't even want to look at them anymore."
Re: How do you feel about Zeno's "Oooooooh" and "Aaaaaah" during the tournament?
As others have expressed, it comes across as mental conditioning for the audience to interpret the scenes in a certain way. I do think these two episodes were some of the best in Dragon Ball Super, but much of it was clearly bogged down by reactions and banter from the other characters. Zeno offered nothing substantive to the situation. If there some was development concerning the fates of the universes or their structure as a result of these events then it might feel more impactful; something along the lines of debating whether or not this person or that person should be allowed to survive because they provide entertainment to the Zenos.

Sometimes they're cute. I liked when they were freaking out over not being able to see Dyspo in 104.
Having it so often in this special was inexcusable though. Once at the start was enough, but after the insert song kicked in, they needed to sit down and stop squawking.

What they are, to me, in my opinion, is a fun play on the Western ideal of what a God should be. They are the opposite in almost every way.

Re: How do you feel about Zeno's "Oooooooh" and "Aaaaaah" during the tournament?
Adorable, particularly in the latest episodes. They are like a mirror of the child audience reaction that this series is targeted at. Maybe the Zen-o's symbolize, or represent, that the DB universe/franchise exists because of the kids. Its ongoing in-universe existence can be erased at any time if they tune out. Kids are the be-all, end-all.
... Ok, that was sappy.
I also kinda grin whenever we get the close-up shot of their single eye before they proceed to double eachother's respective reaction(s). There's something in DB for people of all ages. As cool as they can be, it can't be non-stop fighting all the time (lots of animation/resources required). Cutaways to other characters reactions has existed since the beginnings.

I fully agree with you. I actually enjoyed the way they kept saying WAKA WAKA! and it was totally hilarious, i wish they do it more. It was adorable.VegettoEX wrote:They're adorable, they're wonderful, they're a delightful change of pace, and I wish they would have even more doubled-up one-liner commentary during the fight.

You want even more of them? Between the sideline chatter, the GoDs, and the Zenos only around 30% of the UI Goku vs Jiren fight was them actually fighting. Why would you want to take up even more time to see the Zenos saying the same thing over and over? It's funny and cute the first or second time they do it, but to constantly cut back to them saying the same thing over and over, especially during important and tense moments is just total blueballing for the main event.GodVegetto91 wrote:I fully agree with you. Yes, I find their reactions more interesting and endearing than essentially all of the actual fighting and most of the little character moments.Asura wrote:You want even more of them? I agree with this. I get that they're an audience stand-in to express excitement, but the show already makes sure you notice its big, badass moments, so it becomes redundant. It's like those signs that tell the audience when to applaud. I much prefer the commentary of the GoDs, where we see different personalities, motives, and dynamics.Scarlet Spider wrote:I used to not be bothered by it. But now I roll my eyes and just want their commentary to end. Unless they're threatening someone.
