Vegeta's "Big Bang" attack?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Vegeta's "Big Bang" attack?

Post by Phenomenol » Sat Sep 29, 2007 12:37 pm

I was wondering does the Daizenshuu give any explanation as to why Vegeta's Big Bang attack is shot and looks like a normal ki blast? It really is nothing speical (besides having the attacked named) and shooting the blast out of one hand which many DBZ characters have done.

Does the Daizenshuu go into detail about how destructive the attack is?

I think it's stated somewhere that it was inspired by the bomb that was dropped over Hiroshima. (hence: "Big Bang"). The Big Bang attack creates similar effects of an A-bomb, not many other canon attacks in Dragon Ball create effects like this, except for Piccolo Daimao's Burikikimaha (???) and that imprisonment ball thing that Freeza used on Goku.

I think the Big Bang is suppose to smash planets? I believe the attack would be stronger than a Hiroshima bomb. :) Unless someone has anything offical describing it.

It's much, much weaker. The Hiroshima bomb would have vaporized everybody there.

I think the closest thing we ever see to destruction on the level of an atomic bomb as when Majin Vegeta blows himself up. Sure, Freeza's blast on Namek managed to cause the planet to rip apart but the actual destruction caused by the attack itself was fairly small. Just a whole in the ground. And the damage caused by Goku's Spirit Bomb wasn't really that massive either. Hmm, makes you wonder what would happen if someone shot Freeza or someone with an atom bomb, if they'd survive or not (barring radiation poisioning, of course).

As for the idea the BBA was based on the Hiroshima bomb it's possible, I suppose. But more than likely that's just a rummor generated by the fact that the BBA created a mushroom cloud when Vegeta used it to destroy Android 19.

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Thanks for the input Xyex.

I wonder how the Daizenshuu's rate the power of Vegeta's Big Bang attack?

Guys, guys...
Why the hell are you even talking about the goddamn Hiroshima bomb?

I mean... That's just fucking stupid.
Why the Big Bang Attack specifically? There are many similar attacks in the series. Why would this one in particular be based on the Hiroshima bombing?
Because of the name? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Don't you think "Big Bang Attack" is a reference to... well... the big bang?! I don't know, I'm just guessing, here!
If it were called "Little Boy Attack", you would have a point, but...

Most probably, some guy saw an explosion in the series, and decided that since it was a Japanese show, it just had to be a reference to the Hiroshima bombing. Because, y'know... "Fujiyama, geisha, ninja, I know Japan!"

'Cause the Daizenshû has graphs about each and every attack, didn't you know?
And there's a whole section about how many Kamehameha you'd need to "destroy a galaxy", too!

Are we still there? Really?

Well stated. I think we're done here.
