It's suprising they aren't out yet, it's almost time for members of our team to start dropping out again.. For all that delicious shock factor..

Also, those namekians look real good, digging the dark green..
Yeah, Universe 7 really needs to take some more losses soon. Halfway into the tournament they've lost three, and it's the three you'd expect to go out first.
My bet is that #17 and #18 will be taken out next. I could see Goku, Gohan and Freeza being the final three standing.

I'm really interested in the U6 Namekians, but I don't get why people are mad because they didn't get an introduction or a NEP. They are clearly minor characters, probably even two jabronis like Hermila and Prum from U2 were.

I'm excited for this episode!!

The most minor of characters in the tournament were in a nep or magazine scan but these 2 have had nothing and that is strange.

This is quite true..
They both know each other very well by the life and death matches they somehow keep fighting with each other, freeza is even giving Goku energy this episode while Vegeta didn't even share for spirit bomb for some reason..

And the fact Freeza actually manages to equal Goku..

Freeza is also way cooler than Vegeta..
At this point, do we even need Vegeta's character to exist?
It will be interesting to see how Toriyama goes about this, will he retire Vegeta, will Freeza be taken away by plot, or maybe they both stick around and Goku finds himself in the middle of an awakard love triangle..
I would like that

I think the writers realized there's a sever lack of a morally ambiguous ally since Vegeta is now clearly and firmly on their side. I just wish they would stop trying to rekindle Vegeta's animosity, nobody is buying it anymore and it just makes him look more childish. You can write rivalry without the fake tsun tsun.

The thing is, a dere Vegeta doesn't fit, tsun tsun Vegeta isn't really needed now and a tsundere Vegeta stands no chance against the Yandere goodness freeza brings to the table..

The fact of the matter is, if freeza sticks around vegeta is done for

I hate when fans do this. There are plenty of characters I am less interested in but I don't start saying that character should be retired.

Vegeta is a fan favorite he is not going anywhere because some fans don't find him interesting or cool enough. That is your opinion and clearly not what most fans think. Why does any character need to exist? I don't even get this question?

And Vegeta will always be the better companion for Goku than Freeza

Let's see

* Both Saiyans
* Both with 1/2 Saiyan Children who are also part of the story.
* Married to Bulma who was Goku's first friend
* Has a long history throughout the show

I don't know where the story will take Freeza. He could stay a villain for all we know. Let him be his own character. He doesn't have to replace Vegeta.

Sad thought.....it looks like Universe 6 end is coming. With Hit and the saiyans likely being ringed out in the near future......

Beerus is going to have to say goodbye to his brother all to soon .

I feel bad saying it, but yeah it's true; if Freeza remains a part of the cast going forward Vegeta's current role is done for. The fact that Freeza was created as a replacement villain when Vegeta started to become an unreliable ally in Z means the one who can top and replace him is Freeza.

They've been writing Freeza so well this arc too! And unlike Vegeta he doesn't have a family to pull his attention away from Gokû stuff.

And yet I can't bring myself to cheer this possible move because it sinks my ship I don't want Vegeta to be replaced.

Also I was hoping we'd get a different team up than Piccolo/Gohan but it all comes down to execution.

Worst case scenario, they are get knocked off as collateral damage.
Nowadays, gohan and piccolo team up leaves a bad taste in my mouth.Definitely not excited, hopes they are misleading again. However, I don’t think they will be knocked out in one episode even if they are unimportant.
Yeah they really have made this a boring team up now by overusing it. Just like how I got sick of the Goku and Vegeta team up, despite being excited for it when it wasn't a common thing. Probably why seeing Gohan and Freeza play off each other was far more interesting. I'd take a Piccolo and 17 team up (or Goku since we haven't had a Piccolo/Goku team up in a long time), and a Gohan and Vegeta team up. The former only happened once and the latter haven't really fought together much.

He's not being replaced by Freeza I don't even know why people think this. It's ridiculous. In polls he is the second most popular character after Goku. Why do they need to get rid of him? He might be a good guy now but his personality is still completely different from Goku and even Piccolo (the character he is most often compared with) .

We don't know what the writers are going to do with Freeza? Maybe he will be redeemed maybe he won't. But even if Freeza is redeemed it doesn't mean Vegeta's purpose as a character is done. Unless you think his only purpose as a character is to become good. Which makes no sense.

It won't happen. I doubt either Toei or Toriyama has the guts to replace Vegeta for Freeza, or even yet make him a good, neutral guy after this arc end.

Vegeta is way too popular to be officially replaced. They'd have to be reeeaaaallly sneaky about it. I don't see it happening too brutally. Also, there is no guarantee he is sticking around.
If there is one thing that Vegeta has over Freeza, it's looks. Freeza may have an iconic and interesting design and the most kick-ass voice and demeanor, but Vegeta is more appealing as far as fan-service goes (not my cup of tea, but I know that a lot of people like him for that) Then again, they've been really into Vegeta/Bulma so they might start focusing only on that.

RIP Piccolo. The only reason they kept him around was to fight the two Nameks, but now that that's going to be over soon he'll probably be knocked out immediately after. Piccolo better take out at least one Namek rather than Gohan taking out both.

Honestly this is the same as saying that when we were introduced to Goten he would replace Gohan. It makes
no sense.

Why would they sneakily get rid of one of their most popular characters? lol

Bottom line is some fans aren't interested in Vegeta so they think that means their opinion is somehow universal and Toei will now retire Vegeta for another anti hero.

Just to be clear, since I didn't word it properly in that first post - I meant there is not guarantee Freeza is sticking around.

I have never seen anyone think that Goten would replace Gohan. Like, not once even years ago. The little guy got attached to Trunks' hip way too fast for that.

By sneaky, I mean Vegeta's face would pop up next to Goku's on official posters and in the opening, but the actual screen time and impact of his scenes would be somewhat reduced.

This is just the most hypothetical of speculations, and it's okay for people to speculate. Vegeta's popularity is a heavy anchor and he is not going anywhere any time soon. The only thing that adds some relevance to this theory is that this has always happened before: Tien ->Piccolo -> Vegeta -> ?

People love anti-heroes/ morally ambiguous characters is what I saying, and this was one of the things that made Vegeta so appealing for many. He doesn't have that anymore. I feel like they are sometimes struggling to find a balance with him, not wanting to relent his animosity knowing that he might lose some of his charm. I think that does more harm then good tbh. Ex: not wanting to give his energy? I mean, really????

Piccolo is a bald (ish) guy, he could be the next out by that logic as well..
I wonder how strong these nameks are, Gohan seems to be charging in base, so not that strong I assume for now..
