- Daizenshuu 7's giant character index has only one entry for Trunks which covers both versions.
- Daizenshuu 2's Human Drama section crams them both into very cramped entries sharing pages.
- In Sparking Neo/Budokai Tenkaichi 2, sometimes they'll have Mirai Trunks act like just a grown-up version of Normal Trunks (eg, bitching about fighting Pan).
- The Japanese Wikipedia has only one article on Trunks, which is required to have two separate in-article links to the English Wikipedia, which has a separate article for each Trunks.
The Japanese and Trunks
The Japanese and Trunks
I just now thought about this. It seems there's a tendency, in Japan, to almost think of the two versions of Trunks as basically one person.

As far as that game goes, Cell saga short-haired Trunks and GT Trunks are the exact same character. Same reason why Goku is able to throw a Genki Dama at Raditz - the designers didn't bother tailoring characters to such extremes. As long as they look like they should, and can transform into what they should, they're fine.Thanos6 wrote: [*]In Sparking Neo/Budokai Tenkaichi 2, sometimes they'll have Mirai Trunks act like just a grown-up version of Normal Trunks (eg, bitching about fighting Pan).

Yes, but that also works with Long-haired Trunks, too.Adamant wrote:As far as that game goes, Cell saga short-haired Trunks and GT Trunks are the exact same character. Not really, as BT2 long-haired Trunks can go USSJ, something the Trunks that eventually ended up in GT never could.
Plus, there's the fact that fighting with your fists and fighting with a sword feels completely different. The distinction between the two characters does actually make a lot of sense.

No, what I mean is, even if you pick Long-haired Trunks, the GAME still acts like its just Normal Trunks Grown-Up in those same situations. Sorry for the confusion.Adamant wrote:Not really, as BT2 long-haired Trunks can go USSJ, something the Trunks that eventually ended up in GT never could.

Well with the Video Games, it's just simple a lack of GT Trunks in the games. They don't bother to add much GT at all except for the main characters (i.e. SSJ4, Super 17, Omega). So I suppose they just figure they'll double up the Trunks. I mean heck, it's the same when Trunks will fight Adult Gohan. He acts like he's his master. I guess you can't really blame them though.

That one should get fixed in Meteor, though, with the addition of a separate Future Gohan character.Lavender Saiyan wrote: I mean heck, it's the same when Trunks will fight Adult Gohan. He acts like he's his master. I guess you can't really blame them though.
Thanos: Yeah, I see what you mean now. That one's somewhat strange, but it's pretty much just a case of the developers being too lazy to give the two Trunks characters separate voice banks.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.
