That Piccolo scene is from the Preview and he was ok in it so I am going to say that Piccolo is lying about being hurt to make Saonel attack him and Piccolo can attack Saonel close up with that blast after Gohan blocks.

Everyone looks good in the close-up shots, particularly Goku and Freeza, so even if it's not the best animated episode I hope it at least looks good.

Piccolo faking an injury to coax an opponent into attacking carelessly seems plausible since he practically did the same thing with Rubalt. Though I'm not against Saonel being stronger than anticipated either. Piccolo blasts him away with the other arm, so he could be legitimately injured.

Maybe readying a surprise attack too while Saonel keeps Piccolo and Gohan busy? I could see the writers taking a different approach for fights involving Piccolo and have his be all about outsmarting the opponent rather than overpowering them. If they're never going to give him a significant power-up, like ever, I'll settle for this reluctantly.
If Pilina and Saonel are mostly about tag-team tactics that would explain why they weren't chosen for the previous U6 tournament.

Still a little miffed about how fast the saiyans are climbing the power-ladder, but I'll learn to deal.

If Frieza knocks out Cabba this episode I won't care about his his stupid SS2 form. What is the point of any tension or any non Saiyan training when the Saiyans can just get angry and be stronger. It is why I can't like the Saiyans or enjoy their fights.

If these Namekians are stronger than Piccolo then we need to know by how much and why. Even if Piccolo was the strongest he would still fight like the way he is currently.

Even though Soanel and Pilina are a pair and so are Caulifla and Kale I still expect Pilina and Caulifla to fall first out of each pair.
