Dragon Ball currently is no different than Pokemón and its adding new transformations and forms to sell toys and add new Rosters in Video Games.
I prefer Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, DB/Z/GT Movies, Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT in Japanese.
For DBZ Kai and two new Movies I like both Dub and Sub. I Prefer Shunsuke Kikuchi Soundtracks over All other Composers.

The difference is that Pokemon started that way. DB's main source (the manga) is a story with merchandise revolving around it. Now however, the stories revolve around the merchandise which is a shame cause I think DB still has the potential to still be a story first with the right people behind it.

Mostly that BNHA doesn't do as good in its time slot compared to other shows in that same spot. That is compared to the massive success BNHA is oversees with it being one of the higher viewed shows on Crunchyroll. I am not saying BNHA isn't popular in Japan, just that it is kind of like Naruto.

Both One Piece and Dragon Ball Super have been selling well still One Piece was mentioned in Top 100 anime list but Dragon Ball Super hasn't even mentioned in it and neither of Dragon Ball Series made it in top 100 this shows that they have moved on to Better things and it's mostly the kids who are watching Super not really the Anime fans.

In terms of the ratings, they mean nothing for a merchandise show like DB. Also keep in mind that with over 100 episodes, any show no matter how popular will have episodes that don't do great in the ratings.
IF the ratings continue to drop or remain as they are then all it means is that there's a number of people who are simply tired of it (very understandable) and most likely moved on to something else. also, as far as I know this isn't the first time this happened before things went back to normal so it'll most likely happen again.

Unfortunately the problem is the Sentai shows. I hope it doesn’t continue to be this low but it might if that is going to steal ratings from Dragonball

Regardless of what's the reason, it'll show that people prefer other things over DB which is the point he was making. What I'm worried about is that this'll push them to do some major fan favorite thing to bring people back which will only make things worse.

Well no because the Sentai shows still have lower ratings than DB. Obviously when another show is competing against it in the same exact demographic it’s going to steal some ratings that’s common sense.

I would assume the top 100 they're referring to is the NHK poll that was done earlier this year, which I made a thread about: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=38523
I don’t really think this supports his theory though. I expect if this poll was done at a different time the results would be different. And I wonder if this poll actually was just Japanese fans or was it a web poll?
Though I am surprised Tiger and Bunny got No 1. Tiger & Bunny was a very big seller in Japan but not necessarily a top tier seller.
I don’t really think these results say anything about Dragon Ball’s popularity in Japan or about anime popularity in general. There are so many factors to look at it and it’s definitely not so clear cut.

This poll is a joke and anyone who has taken a statistics class or knows anything at all about polling can tell you that. How many people were polled? What was the age range of the people polled? Are they casual viewers, or hardcore anime viewers? How was the polling done? Did they walk around and ask people on the street? Was it a mail-in form? Online form? What's the margin error? How was this poll spread and made available for people to know about? Were there multiple commercials airing for months? What is literally ANY information other than Male/Female results?
I have a hard time believing any poll that doesn't even have a single one of those elements, let alone most of them (which it should have).
Eventually Dragonball will have to be rebooted with a new younger cast or a reimaginng.
At this point I think they'll just go ahead and make Trunks, Goten, Pan, Uub, and maybe Bra or Maron the next major characters. It will be called, "Dragonball: The Next Generation" and focus on all the kid characters.
