I'm willing to bet everyone else from Super will be DLC. Even Beerus.

The thing with DLC characters is that they have to be really enticing as they are the meat of that package, so I really don't think it will be characters like Raditz.

I feel the majority of DLC characters will be movie and Super based which I'm fine with. Because of the other stuff offered in that Season Pass I"m more than happy to drop some dollars on it (hopefully no more than $30 AU).

I'm excited about these 11 music tracks though. Where are we getting these from?! Super soundtrack? Kikuchi's score? Faulconer for US release!? Any information on this at all I'd love to know.

EDIT: God damn $35 US! That is pretty pricey as far as Season passes go. That means were looking at $50 AUD that's over half what the game cost.

TLDR:
  • Arc System wanted to create a new character for the story, asked Toei and Shueisha about it. Shueisha suggested an Android. Mr.Toriyama created the character design.
  • Android #21 made and/or handles technology which causes the story events.
  • The game's story is self-aware. Characters know they are being controlled by us.
  • There's two reasons why she's a female, one can't be revealed because it's important to the story, the other is due to the lack of female characters in Dragon Ball.
I can only think that Android #21 is some sort of mother as a in-story reason related to her gender.

I'm quite interested in the story. Mystery appears to be the main appeal, meaning if they are able to write it successfully this story might be worthwhile. I just hope they don't spoil it before release, any more at least.

I admit, with Super and the Reincarnated Case of Yamcha I was half expecting only he would break the 4th Wall because fandom sell but I`m glad all the cast does :D

That could either be hilarious and funny, or super cringy and awful. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Eh, WTF?! The game is months away from being released, and there are already 8 new characters confirmed that we have to pay separately to get?! How greedy!! :evil:
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I have no doubt the Season Pass decision is on Bandai Namco, cause this seems like something Bandai Namco would do based on history. 8 characters is a bit much and I hate how it's all planned from the outset, that's the worst kind of DLC. For me my policy is not to pre-order DLC, but only to buy it once it starts releasing or if I know it's guaranteed good content (Like the Batman Arkham games). I'll decide if I want the DLC after I see the base game roster. DLC I'm not a fan of but I'm not a outright against it, just keep micro-transactions and loot-box systems out of my games please and thank you.

If there's only 7 characters left to be announced for the game I'm thinking:
1.Ultimate Gohan (Base w/out bang would be nice with a Ultimate transforming mech though)
2. Gotenks
3. Beerus
4. Kid Boo
5. Vegito (maybe. he wasn't playable on ex.butoden so hopefully)
6. Videl? (Female rep. purposes. I would approve)
7. I'm thinking Hit. (But if not I'm praying for Teen Uub. Dragon Ball fusions showed me SOMEONE is thinking about him at least.)

DlC? : 1. Black 2. Zamasu 3. SS4 Goku 4. Hit (definitely) 5. Jiren (does he have enough techniques?) 6. Cabba? 7. Bebi (his teenage form or whatever it's officially called would be cool so there'd be no complaints about a Vegeta clone. 8. Omega Shenron

I'm not particularly unhappy with this because 8 characters is a lot, especially with this games standard of quality. I'm now positive this where we'll be getting the Super characters, possibly movies and GT as well, which is a good way to do DLC. So long as they don't tack any extra costs on top of this, I'll be okay.

EDIT: I wonder who the other commentators in the voice pack are. It's hard to top Izuku Midoriya for the base. Kyle Hebert or Doc Morgan's narrator? The World Martial Arts Tournament Announcer? Zeno?

This takes me back to the days of Budokai, which if you think about it were even more money grubby games.

Budokai 1 had 23 characters and ended at the Cell arc. Budokai 2 came out a year later and added the Boo arc characters while removing some old ones bringing the total to 31. Budokai 3 came out a year after that and added GT and Movie and other miscellaneous characters bringing the total to 42. All three games were full price releases, and beyond the new characters what did they offer? Budokai 2 pumped up the graphics and Budokai 3 pumped up the gameplay, and each game had a different story mode.

Now we have a game where the graphics and gameplay are already top notch, and they're offering eight additional characters for roughly half price. What's a more worthwhile purchase, buying Budokai 2 or buying the FighterZ season pass? To me a single character in this game has more value than a dozen Budokai characters because of how well they're thought out. $5 a character is a price I can live with.

Of course that doesn't mean I'll be buying the season pass. No way will I pay for something without knowing what I'm getting, and odds are it'll be mostly Super characters which I have zero interest in. So I reckon I'll scrape by, but if Broly or Bardock or Majin Vegeta pops up you bet I'll be buying them individually.

I doubt that only the DLC will get the Super era characters, it wasn't the case with XV2, and I doubt that they would prioritize the DLC's success, over the much costly base game's.
Besides, there's plenty of other characters in the franchise that people would buy, other then the new ones from Super.

I don't get what the uproar for the season pass is. Nowadays it's standard to pay for additional characters, and considering how polished ArcSys characters are I would say 35 dollars is a good price for 8 new characters. Also, doesn't Xenoverse 2 charge 15 dollars every DLC?
By the way, I'm glad they won't do re-releases like they did with Guilty Gear.

I hope we will get 9 more characters, for a base roster of 24 excluding Blue Goku and Vegeta. These are the ones I would like to see:
- Android 21
- Lord Beerus
- Bardock
- LSSJ Broly
- SSJ3 Gotenks
- Ultimate Gohan
- Kid Buu
- Super Vegetto
- Hit

As for DLC, I would want to see the following:
- Goku Black
- Merged Zamasu
- Omega Shenron
- Janemba
- Toppo
- Caulifla
- Jiren
- Ultra Instinct Goku

Season passes and rereleases aren't mutually exclusive. I expect there'll be a rerelease with the Season Pass content on disc for a cheaper price about a year after release.

I'm interested in learning more about story mode. What I'm reading is it isn't really Gokû Black mode, but more like Babidi Majin mode where you're more semi possessing the character than you are outright body swapping. Like you're the character's conscience. (*hums When you Wish Upon a Star*.)

Is Ultimate Edition digital only?
