So does anyone watch their set anymore?

I haven't watched it for almost a year since I marathoned all the movies last summer. Maybe I'll just pop in one for fun one of these days.

I wouldn't complain over a hand-me-down if you're fed up with it. :P

Was it worth the extremely horrible subtitles too? It would have been a wiser choice just to buy the Funimation DVD's you'll be getting less episodes but in better quality and with wonderful subtitles.

Sorry to turn this into another screencap request thread, but for those with the set, I was wondering if you could take a screencap of these two images from when Trunks and Goten were dodging Hitler's (er "the Dictator's") army in movie 12:

If there really is that much of a difference in picture quality (and based on the comparison shots, there most definitely is), then I'd like to use the DragonBox screencaps to spiffy up my profile banner.

Please, I beg you, take my advice and either throw that bootleg away or give it to a poor kid on the streets. With the exception of original DB movie 1, Curse of the Blood Rubies (which is only available in edited format outside the Dragonboxes), EVERY DB/DBZ movie and special is available thanks to FUNimation. Next to the Dragonboxes, they have the best quality you'll find anywhere (not to mention an uncropped 4:3 format if image loss irks you) with PHENOMINAL subtitles provided by the fantastic professional translator for us fans, Steven J. Daimao Simmons, certainly better than any crap-ass quality fansub you'll find. Please, for the respect of the DragonBall franchise and everyone on this message board, get rid of the bootleg and go for the real thing instead. FUNi have out reasonable prices for all the movies and specials (I believe the GT special was only $6 on a site I saw a while ago), with 4 box-sets out for most of the movies (DB Box for DB movies 2-4 [10th anniversary feature], First Strike for redub movies [w/t Daimao translation] 1-3, DBZ movie box-set for movies 4-6 [kinda iffy to find these days], and the triple Threat Broly set for movies 8 and 10-11). Yes, it'll cost more than your bootleg, but in the end it'll show how much respect you can truly have for the franchise, us, and even Akira Toriyama. Or hell, even find a movies Dragonbox if quality is what you yearn for most and can live without subs.

Well, the Dragonboxes themselves were only printed once, so you can only get those used.

I have a request. Can someone post a comparison shot between the Dragon Box and Funi release for Movie 8? (the Broly transformation scene)

While I was waiting, I made a comparison shot of the pic ECT posted. Jesus, it was frustrating as hell aligning them. Here it is (the wrinkly lines were from having to resize the D-Box pic):

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

You need to use something different to resize. Whatever you're using has the worst resizing algorithm. Download Irfanview (its good, simple and free) and resize using its resize filters. Gets rid of "wavey lines"...

I just watched DBZ movie 9 from my Dragonbox set. My cousin wanted to watch one, and he loved it despite the lack of subtitles (he's 11 years old). Same with me. Everytime I watch one, it's like watching it for the first time again. Almost brings tears to my eyes. Tears of joy, of course. :D

The Dragon Box DVD Sets were a one shot deal out of Japann. That said, they are going back releasing each disc singly, and it appears they will release everything. All DBZ singles are out, and next month all DB singles will be available. Next are the GT singles (already available for pre-order), and we're assuming they will do the same with the movies.

I buy mine on sale from Amazon japan. <click here>

I think there is one other site to buy from, I forget the URL, but I think Amazon JP has more sales and discounts. They are not the cheapest things in the world. So, it should be noted that if price is a huge factor, the new FUNI widescreen releases are a good choice for those unwilling or unable to pay for the imports.

CD Japan is the other site that sells the Dragon Box singles. Not so cheap.

If that isn't lucky I don't know what is. I had to get mine for $250, used, with just the DVDs.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.
